This dude works missing person cases, can save you from a mountain top, rescue your sunken boat or car and now fix your leaky pond. I know there’s a ton more I missed. Homie is versatile.
Did you see the video where he free climbed this ridiculously loose shale rocky cliff most effortlessly ? The guy is part mountain goat.
@@kristopherdetar4346Hell yeah, that impressed the shit out of me. No planning, just glancing at it and saying, "Let's go!"
While dave is very versatile and a true inspiration anyone can do anything they set their mind to with a little bit of determination and hard work.
Overrated, dbag in real life, very charitable on camera but catch him outside and it’s over, plus he voted for Biden
Has a CDL.
Here's a tip for sealing plastic "PVC" pipe/fitting leaks.
Approximately 20 + years ago I had a glue joint fail in my PVC plastic air line in my shop.
It was in a difficult area to access and I really did not want to cut the fitting out and replace it.
In a "Hail Mary" move I used my shop vacuum to introduce a vacuum in the pipe.
I then put some PVC glue around the fitting and let it suck into the fitting.
I then used a regular old hose clamp to clamp around the leaking fitting.
After letting it sit overnight to cure the glue I turned on the air system and it has been holding 160 PSI ever since then.
Genius move
@@Bman5695, Thanks, sometimes the crazy stuff you think up "under pressure" actually works, lol!
Could have just used Flex Seal.
@@kevinjohnston1957, That won't hold 160 psi. Low to no pressure it would work great, but at higher pressure it just blows out and leaks.
Welcome to the Water industry gentlemen. This is basically what every water distribution operator does every day. I know ultimately y'all will fix it or have it already fixed cause that's how y'all roll. For me seeing this is just another normal day at work. Rock on and get er done.
I help out at a small camp in the mountains of Colorado. The water system was designed by a bunch of Ranchers 60 years ago, and over the years dozens of different volunteers have worked on it. The camp is about 1:30 round trip to get to a hardware store so, frequently, creative connections were cobbled together to "fix" a problem with a "promise" to bring the right parts up next time he came 😂.
Use pvc for hot water and he won't have a problem, in his lifetime.
@@hubertfruzia1803 ya lemme know how that rubber O ring holds up after a couple years.
I have been to those hot springs many many times. all prior to current ownership, but still one of my favorite places. happy to see the improvements it is getting.

Wow 😳 180 degree water. That's pretty warm. Thanks 👍 for sharing guys.
doubt it
Thats about what the antifreeze in your cars engine runs at...
180 degrees at the thermal vent. Maybe 120 in the pond.
@@allshoulders9624 basically boiling there bodies.nah thanks
There’s a mixing valve for the pools.
I’d be less worried about the water and more worried about the dirty hippies 😂
I love the way you help out these guys like him and Serro Gordo.
Putting your knowledge, experience and resources to good use!
Looking forward to part 2. You guys are like real life McGyvers!!!
" Nothing is impossible, until its done ! " Mandela's words. Yes ,Heavy D's team is always eager to conquer- amazing ,interesting adventures we're taken with !
There was something about the beginning of this video that told me in the first 5 seconds that it was going to be a failure. It's great that you guys will try anything and jump at the chance to help someone. I think you guys just didn't have enough info to truly be ready. It looks like the line needs to be re-piped because everything is too old. Good luck next time. Keep the great videos coming
Thanks for saving me from wasting 20 minutes watching that hippie drone on.
Mr Sparks to the rescue again helping old friends from way back I salute you sir may you keep on growing
I would recommend a gate valve at the intake, make filling the line easier. Or alternatively leave the end open and fit a side channel air compressor/ vacuum at the highest point in the syphon. Make a water seperator chamber to not suck water into the air pump. Then the water can be sucked into the pipe removing all the air. No risk of gate valves rusting in the pool with a vacuum system.
This is the best idea I’ve seen in the comments. You’d probably need a valve at the bottom and run water in to the top to fill most of the line. Then turn on the vacuum.
We have used a Y pipe at the bottom of the hill and a leaf blower to create a venturi . Works super slick
So much love for restoration, thank you guys for your knowledge 💜
you should get a couple trailer loads of powdered CLAY and spread it on the bottom of the settling ponds where you think the ground is absorbing your water,
10:45 awe how sweet almost like holding the door open for you 😂😂😂😂
I love how you alls minds work! This is working together personified!
My wife and I stayed there last December and it was one of the most amazing and magical places!!! I am so happy you are helping them!!! The owner is an absolute amazing and down to earth dude!!! Thanks for helping them!!!
Can you tell me the name and location of this place? How as your stay?
I'd love to see an animation or at least a drawing of how this system is supposed to work.
That would honestly be a really good place to start for everyone involved. I can't believe they don't have a nice painted board diagram or anything.
It’s a lot of guess work and trouble shooting. Always easier to start with a drawing then fixing someone else’s work lol
And he has a blackhawk
They need to have their own animated series
just imagine it quite easy
You should be so proud of your team, helping the community and bringing people together. Great content
Let’s respect the energy these videos require it’s crazy! 💪
Most diverse channel on YT! Yous do it ALL! I love the crew and every video, you never know what you’ll get. Quality content.
The knowledge these guys have on any subject on earth is truly amazing... Even they are unaware of certain things, they learn it on the job and become pros...
Ive learnt alot of stuff about machines, vehicles and even rescue works from you.. Now this... 😍😍😍
You guys are a mind of information, you all have so much energy to sort these problems out. You must be worth every penny paid to fix these problems x
You need a one way foot valve in the spring to keep the pipe charged, you’ll lose head pressure and the pipe will empty every time without it
Check valve is for a pressurized main, not a siphoned main. Every time the check would close you will lose siphon
@natehale1982 a foot valve is for suction systems. They're used on the bottom of shallow wells with jet pumps or hand pumps all the time.
@@natehale1982check valve is to prevent back flow due to gravity, thus maintaining prime.
That.
HeavyD McGyver is at it again! Amazing!
WOW!!! Can't believe just how fast the leaves have changed colors on the trees. Man Dave the things that you do for people is so amazing and awesome keep being that caring person Thank You.
You are a fucking legend at what you and your buddies do. from fixing small leaks to hauling big ass equipment to using for rescues to helping out the unfortunate families. you're a saint man.
This is sick! Love these projects
HeavyD is one of a kind for sure. His people's dedication is hard to believe.
Maybe add a gate valve to the charge pipe to eliminate air and some type of check valve at the inlet.
Hans has the right idea. Pizza sandwich is amazing. Clean face and clean hands afterwards. 😂
At some point the owner of the Hot Springs may want to install a all new CPVC ChlorFIT pipe line. It is rated for chemicals and 200 degrees at all times, it is expensive but it is not going to break down due to the temperature or the chemicals in the water. Just a thought.
In practice I've found PPH pipe is much more durable than cpvc.
Also add a Teflon ball valve to minimize the corrosion.
but PPH is only rated to 90 degrees Celsius or about 180 degrees Faireniheit that extra 20 degrees make a big difference.
@@secretarts All the pph I've used is rated at 100 degrees Celsius. Which is higher than cpvc. Also 90 C is 194 F. CPVC is 200 F so only 6 degrees.
What's the pressure rating?
These random problem solving episodes are great!
Thumbs this up so he see this…
Pond needs to be dug
out with a long reach excavator, all the water lines needs to be re-placed and installed with gate valves. Everything should be HDPE plastic pipe for rust resistance with brass valves. The system should at least have 3 clean outs 1 near at each end and 1 in the middle. So cleaning out the pipe with ease. 8” pipe will have to much pressure and volume of water… maximum I would use is a 6” HDPE pipe. IF & When the pond starts to leak threw the ground you will need bentonite chips. The chips looks like wood chips and will swell up and clog leaks. That’s what we do for pond leaks.
Great series. I'm glad you guys are able to get them going again.
To be continued ! Thanks for sharing !
Pokin the bear and getting a can of whoop arse with a side of F around and find out 😂

Would love to find a way to go help the hot spring and move back.
Love the T-Shirt Diesel Dave! One and only Mr. The Duke! John Wayne Rocks!'
Hats off to your amazing film and editing crew !! They add excitement to every episode!
Looks like that guy from “ Flex -seal “ needs to get his ass up there with a couple cases of cans to help Dave & crew 😏😆😉. Old PVC pipes are a pain in the butt. I had to help a guy replace a “ Pond pump “ on his property last year , and it was a real bitch to remove from the intake pipe, swap it out for new one , and get everything back in place , clamped properly & then make all electrical connections ( his electrical box looked like a snake pit full of old crusty wiring ) and get it all working again just so he could impress his family & guests for a weekend showing off his “ Waterfall “ in his backyard pond for some family function . Hopefully You guys have the same great success here in future video. 😎👍. Thanks Dave Sparks & crew for ALL YOU DO .
Just quick couple things. The PVC O ring fittings are designed to seal under pressure and can leak when under vacuum especially when the seals are old and cracked. I’ve never seen anyone put glue inside them so I don’t know how well that will work but supposes it might. I would also be good to put a tap in the highest point of the line to let the air out.
Vary awesome indeed. Nice job you guys for helping him out. Keep up the great work you guys.
A siphoning pump works really well. Regular PV c, piping and hot water only lasts for so long. Especiallyit the water is 180 degrees, I'm surprised it hasn't failed sooner. The good news is, there's only so much pipe there. The bad news is most of it's underground. So good luck, love the videos.
Dave: “…aw FRICK! There it goes again…”

Imagine owning a hot spring, such a good purchase
I got to give it to Dave and his crew nothing they can't do makes for great content too always something different going on can't wait for part 2 I'm surprised if they just don't run a brand new line but only time will tell
Way to go sparks and team
I’m always impressed with the amount of people that you have helped
Do t listen to the bad reviews.
Piping underground is different.
Get some die for the water to help with direction and leaks but.
Really hope you guys see the post and get a lining crew to assist they can 100% help in a few hrs
Love seeing Hard Working people like yall
You have to take time when HeavyDSparks upload!!! 💪🏻
Owning an entire hot spring is a flex & a half.
I met Jordan a decade ago in a different life, awesome to see what he's accomplished with the place.
I personally enjoy enjoy Hans’ comments
Dave nice video.Another video helping someone who can’t help themselves. Excellent
You don't use glue with a gasket. Either glue fittings or gasket fittings. It'll work for a while. Would have been best to use a couple of sturdy compression fittings with pipe between the gap. Sleeve in a fix.
Yesss and don’t use glue with out primer lol but I’ve never used glue with gasket pipe maybe each states different on codes I don’t know lol
@@austinsmith1815a gasket is the seal. If no gasket glue is the seal or threads
@@austinsmith1815blue glue can be used without primer

Amazing work guys. Keep up the great work
This is going to be epic. Lots of love to all my true American friends from the 🇬🇧

Interesting! Can not wait to see how it goes tomarrow!
* after getting all the leaks fixed and install new 8 inch back up line if you put a tank 350 gallon or more on a platform and a tee with cutoffs so you could isolate either line you could then use the water in the tank ( and you could even pressureize the tank ) but leave the valve to tank closed , and if he ever has another problem , he could pressurize the tank open valves and use water in tank on 6-10 foot platform to reprime the system after fixing problem or when switching to new 8 inch back up line you mentioned
If theres a rubber seal for a bell and spigot you will never need glue. You need pipe lube to slip the pipe through the rubber. You need to bevel the end of the “spigot” end of the pipe with a grinder or chop saw to easily get the pipe started passed the rubber. Typically you would use a digging bar to stab the two pipes together when you’re dealing with rubber gasket joints
Yeah they’ve never messed with that type of pipe before, glad to see someone else caught that besides me👍👍, the whole pipe system needs to be replaced, with C-900
I was sitting here going.. hmm. I've never glued slip joint pipe before. - service technician at a small rural water utility.
The end of the pipe was beveled. They just glued it because they didn't know any better. Should have had a pipe fitter out to advise them on this project.

You guys are freaking awesome n helpful.
Million year old PVC holds up pretty well. Who knew?
The hippy knew 😉🤣
At 18:55 there is an alien spaceship parked behind you! LoL 👽👾👽👾
Its expenseive but an epoxy liner could be inserted at a double sweep cleanout. Easy to install on land. Perhaps use foam blocks over the water end to let it cure or replace the section.
I used to work for a company that did that. We did it in storm drains up to 84 inches. I was the diver setting pugs for the lining and also for cutting out the liner when it was cooked.
Do not forget water in lines are 180° could either cure it faster or damage epoxy
awesome job my friend
Dave when doing over 3" pipe you should be using primer with your blue glue.
I use primer when working with any sized pvc pipe. I guess I just like a little overkill. Better to be safe than sorry.

I met Sparks a few weeks ago, down to earth, humble, and a good guy.
Could you not use a butterfly valve on the inlet pipe to stop the water from flowing? Then you could remotely activate the valve, like a "blowout preventer" on an oil wellhead.
Oh nice, I love maple Grove! Such a treasure, good on ya helping them our!

No pvc is rated for hot water, bad idea all around. You need a plumber.. wish I lived closer
You sure you're a plumber?. PVC is rated for 140°. CPVC, however, is rated for 200°.
This was interesting, please continue to show how it turns out.
