I know this is kinda messed up but I was so glad when you said you question your skills when doing the eyes 😂 I’m still a beginner but I swear eyelids and ears are the bane of my sculpting life. Just nice to hear even pros find them a little tricky sometimes 😅
That Matt Damon was a pretty awesome likeness, I feel like he nailed it. I think the only way to get good at likeness, is to do them. I had done a couple of 1 hour likeness sculpts, mine are usually hit or miss but no where as good as y'alls sculpts.
Yeah, I disagree with their view that beginners should avoid likeness sculpts. I think everyone should do likeness sculpts because they really give you a solid benchmark to judge against, whereas if you do a "generic face" it's difficult to tell what's off.
from what I understood they never did rigging in the industry, they probably learned it at school but I'm suspecting that they haven't really touched on the subject since then
It's hard to be an expert at modeling but also rigging, animating, texturing, drawing, VFX, SFX, etc. I think eventually it would turn into general ideas and basic lessons on many topics.
thought of matt damon immediately when I saw this. Just saw first 30 sec and think the sculpture is very impressive. wonder what i'll think after the critique. Sick skills tho
I've heard you guys say many times that you use 3 brushes 99% of the time. Do you think that Zbrush Core would be enough? Are there any features missing in Core that just make the full product that much better/worth it?
I fucking love this channel :-D i am not using zbrush my self, but i am learning soo much... I Love the fact that you guys are learning me how to approach, rather then how to do. there is a big difference in probable learning when you get tought how to approach rather then when someone teaches you how to do.. because they teach you THAT thing and you are gonna be lost on 6 others... How ever if you learn how to approach something, you can most likely handle all 7 situations. And that i love :)
i feel that you took the piss out of the sculp abit to much there when it was very well done and only needed minor changes like desimate the polygons for lower res and a small amount of time shaping with a ffew more ref photos !
Any chance you can make a video about the surface parts of the face? Say like the fat pads that accumulates and how the skin wraps around the muscles to give that realistic look
I would maybe adjust the 'angle of view' if you were freaked out by the perspective distortion - you don't want a completely ortho view when sculpting because that's completely unrealistic and makes features in the back of your sculpt look bigger - try a setting of 28 for the angle of view. Also, ZBrush either now or soon will have realistic camera focal lengths, so you'll be able to match photographs where you know what the focal length of the camera is.
i feel you two think your the best when your not everyone has something to learn critisize less congratulate more ! it was a very good sculpt! and you made it look less like him than when it began!
It was so validating to hear you guys mention the difficulty of finding reference that is consistent or as consistent as possible. I didnt even realize focal lengths were a thing until I started my first portrait sculpt. I highly advise spending the time and having the patience to hunt down the proper photos from as many sides as possible before jumping in. Its seriously so easy to get excited and dive into the sculpt before prepping REALLY good reference into a measured out photoshop document and using that to do your initial blocking out. Also I agree that ive found that lining your sculpt up with photos can only take you so far before it actually starts working against you. I find once ive blocked it out, i turn off the guide planes and just work by eye from 100s of reference photos. Your eye will get stronger the more you use it. Measuring against the photos will only frustrate you. Or at least, it frustrates me lol
You're not sculpting the eye bag that's why u keep trying to keep sculpting, plus cheekbones and propetions of the head in side vew are just not there,... Bonely landmarks first and u guys are not following that

You improved him from being matt demon to being just some random guy lul

@@pixphi Exactly. I think likeness sculpts are absolutely essential for learning.
@@pixphi how is it hard to tell what's off? "Generic faces" still can be compared to anatomically accurate references, you can tell what's off easily
Please teach rigging
^ This
Do they know *THAT* much about rigging though?
from what I understood they never did rigging in the industry, they probably learned it at school but I'm suspecting that they haven't really touched on the subject since then
Katherine T thanks

idk guys, if you compare the before and after I like the before more. Had a lot more expression in his Face. But overall I get the critique
thought of matt damon immediately when I saw this. Just saw first 30 sec and think the sculpture is very impressive. wonder what i'll think after the critique. Sick skills tho
"he's a construction worker...works with all of his Polish buddies..." oh wow, too real
as I said, they did copy of my Dad. Even his job, friends and mood. EVEN FUCKING BELARUS WEATHER. WHAT DE FUCK
what just happened?!! where did Matt Demon go?
I've heard you guys say many times that you use 3 brushes 99% of the time. Do you think that Zbrush Core would be enough? Are there any features missing in Core that just make the full product that much better/worth it?
In the first picture he looked more Matt Daemon
Interesting video, are you guys planning to do the female face too?
I fucking love this channel :-D i am not using zbrush my self, but i am learning soo much... I Love the fact that you guys are learning me how to approach, rather then how to do.

You guys keep saying that Matt Damon has a “alien skull”
So...you could almost say his skull could be...a Martian skull? ;)
get out of here
oh I get it. youre referencing the movie "The Martian" where Matt Damon plays as the guy who was trapped on Mars
Which camera for are you using , I was guessing around 50mm ?
How would one go about submitting something on your discord for you to look at?
Is the flip normal discord still available? The last link I found didn’t work.
thank you guys!

Matt damon, josh brollin, randy orton and press ctrl + n to end up with john cena
I feel like the ears are too high and it's kind of bugging me
14:12 Would you guys just model eyelashes in Maya or 3ds Max and import them?
You would make planes and use an alpha for the hair like you would for grass
Any chance you can make a video about the surface parts of the face? Say like the fat pads that accumulates and how the skin wraps around the muscles to give that realistic look
How long have you been sculpting?
Do you use Zbrush default angle of view? What is the natural angle of view to work with?
Improve your face
sculpting fundamentals
lmao
this shit was really fucking funny to me I have to tell you
Thanks for all the tips! I'm trying to do a likeness sculpt just for fun since I'm on break, idk how many of your videos I've watched lol
Keep up the good work guys!
Are you using perspective? I hit perspective on my current sculpt and was completely freaked out by the difference.

50 million!? What kind of computer do you need to have for that?
got me thinking
taking ur face sculpt to the next level completely gets rid of the face sculpt its supposed to be
From Matt Damon to Russell Crowe/Kevin Spacey
should rename this video to "howto convert a likeness sculpt to stylized"
i feel you two think your the best when your not everyone has something to learn critisize less congratulate more ! it was a very good sculpt! and you made it look less like him than when it began!
We're definitely not the best. We try our best however to bring the knowledge that we have to as many people as possible.

Yes...
Can we do that moving ear 0:50 in Blender
Grab brush...or snake hook brush...you might have to mask it also...
What software do you use for this image manipulation - I love it!
This channel have everything i need
Thank you very much!
Where be your discord? :P
you guys making great stuff..keep going expecting more Z stuff
Thank you for this awesome tutorial.
4 million points
HE WENT FROM A 0.50 CENT MATT DAMON TO A 0.75 CENT JOSH BROLIN AND SETTLED ON A 2 DOLLAR JOHN CENA WITHOUT THE CAULIFLOWER EARS
why do i see Will Ferrell in him?
Taking your Face Sculpt likeness to the toilet and tech you what ever we want (Plot Twist: They actually don't know how to do likeness...)
11:49...so it's not just me..
You did my Father, wtf
You are a great example of someone who achieved amazing technical proficiency and lacks talent.
He could always say he was sculpting Jocko willink
Do you guys know when I wake up?
I am thanos (with less chin)
Pappa bless
That is really some voodoo
You should critisize real human heads and say what's wrong with them
Can I join your discord? :)

You completely lost the little likeness it had when you started. How do you have so many subscribers?
you guys are so arrogant, always laughing and making fun of people's work. can you try to not mock people's work when you do these types of videos?
Tutorial is worthless - sound of the rain is too loud, couldn't concentrate.
What rain?
No big deal, just wait until it stops raining. Or go inside. :D
