Ok here it is. Tidal Gardens is probably the best source of coral care information, but a lot of this stuff can be found elsewhere online (not as detailed or from a veteran POV, but it’s out there) However when you combine the amazing information with the killer cinematography this channel stands heads above the others. Truly the best reef aquarium channel on the Internet
I love you and most importantly love your coral spot lights. Your voice is perfect for such videos and they are crazy jam packed with information and you personally are to thank for most of the knowledge in corals like different types in at least for the most part being able to identify at lfs as well as knowing a pretty good bit about them. Thank you so much for your videos. They have really sped up my growth over the past year of being in the salt hobby. ❤️✌🏼
Got a hole bunch under a kessil tuna blue 160 in 40 breeder ,mixed reef, and looks amazing, I have the low light corals in the lower light areas and inside caves and whatnot, great video
I am still saving up to upgrade my tank to a 210 gallon. I am using these videos to build my shopping list. I want my dream tank totally charted out (coral, fish, inverts, hardscape, etc.) before I even buy the tank.
Great video! For the few lords I have in my LPS dominated tank, feeding them every other day makes them very happy. If I miss a feeding or two they stop putting out their tentacles and don't open up as much. For feeding I smash up some pellet LPS food and melt in a cube of mysis shrimp, and give a little bit per head, (One to two shrimp). The pellet 'dust' from smashing up the pellets is just to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need. They gobble it all up in a hurry, the crazy part is they will attempt to eat EVERYTING put on them, and if they eat to much they will spit everything back into the water column.. Remember a little bit of food every other day goes a long ways for these guys.
I have a little two head blasto I got a month or two ago. One head is shaded much more than the other. Take a guess which head looks best haha. Waiting for my monti to keep growing out and shade the other too and I expect both will look great in time.
Hi Than, I always appreciate the detail into species I.D. that you provide on this channel. I'm sure you get reliable information but I was able to find the publication (Arrigoni et al. 2016) that you mention. If you have not read it I would be happy to send it to you. Jacob
I always enjoy the information and videography in your videos. I was wondering in a mixed reef tank if these would be candidates for the “shaded “ areas in my tank from the rock scapes. I gave many areas like this that could use some interest. With a Maxspect powerhead even the lower portion has a bit of flow but not too much.
Very interesting video I always thought there was acans I think the one I have got is your homophily thank you for the information have a maze brain coral had it about a week now never seen a single polyp come out on it just needed some tips and advice on it if you have any would be much appreciated thank you
Than, 4 years ago you did a video on your friend Will's mixed reef tank and you shared some really fascinating stuff about his carbon dosing system, and how his corals are probably getting an important food source by the bacterial blooms added carbon creates, before those bacteria get skimmed out. Did you ever do your own experimentation with carbon dosing, and do you have anything new to report on what you've learned? Very interested in this topic and would love your take on it.
Can you tell us about your video photography here? What lighting is being used for the corals? What camera/lens? And what type of setup are the corals placed in to provide such a background as well as polyp extension? Thank you.
getting my first acan this saturday. I've read a bunch about them and believe I have the proper water chem and spot picked out for them. I am nervous about their aggression though. I have read some mixed things :/
I couldn't figure out what happened to my Acan, since all my other corals are thriving. Makes sense that my peppermint shrimp ate it.. Seeing as he did such a great job with all the aptaisia. Really sucks :(
My god, how do you get such good shots? I shot corporate videos so nothing to do but I'm absolutely amazed with the quality of your shots, I would love for a quick tutorial on how you do it. Big fan!
Do you have tips on how to setup a mother colony for continue fragging? They grow better on a flag surface, right? But when fragging, I will have to cut the base rock too, then the rest of the colony won't be flag anymore, and they don't seem to like to grow down the edge. Any good tip around this?
Love these corals probably my favorite lps. Yes is still an Acan even though micros might catch on in time. I think the hard change to accept is the new name for Scolymia
Very fantastic corals... Hey sir I have problems inside my tank now it's called ich my fish have white spots all over body... can you help me out sir Thanks........
What’s the best way to differentiate the two micromussa you’re talking about?? Jus got a colony a few days ago and the polyps seem small for a lordhowensis but could jus be me
All my acans did a polyp bailout what can be the cause of this? Only my acans hammers and scolys have died everything else is fine, and my parameters have been stable just a high level of antimony has been reported.
In the name of science. I have made a conscious effort to call acans, micromussa. But it's going to be extremely difficult to call scolys....homophyllia. Would they even know what I was referring to? Excellent coral showcase!
Tell me the truth, are you still going to call this coral an Acan?
Yep
Id still call it an acan lol
I've been trying to just call them lords. I do still call them Acans sometimes though.
yep. they're acans to me.
Acan in my book
Ok here it is.

By far, this is one of my favorite LPS corals. Great video.

Wow beautiful and so interesting
Thanks for watching
Will definitely be on my shopping list when I setup my new tank by end of this year

Great as always Than.
Thank you for these videos!
My coral crush as well as Blastomusa welsi
These are favorite corals as well nice video
Great video! I love these corals!
great video as always. I keep a ton of them in my mixed reef. I don’t do anything special for them and they are always puffy and happy
Omg its like a brand new video. Thanks for letting me know this was here.
I am still saving up to upgrade my tank to a 210 gallon. I am using these videos to build my shopping list. I want my dream tank totally charted out (coral, fish, inverts, hardscape, etc.) before I even buy the tank.
Great video. Very informative as always.
I have my Acan Lords under 200 to 300 par and moderate flow and they love it.
Great video!

Love these videos
Awesome video👊👍
Now I know why I've never been able to keep acans or blastos. I was always under the assumption that low light was in the 100-150 par range.

Acan time baby👍👍 I'll always call it an acan😄
Same!!!

I like the actual par
number
Love your videos and would love to be able to visit your facility if you ever offer that.

Stay tuned, I plan on doing a video on my video setup.
Great information and video quality Than i still call them acan's

true, but I believe in science and draw the line
When people use the word like fast growing with corals. I WISH they would hive some references of time to growth. Any.
what camera/Lense are you using for such amazing shots?
Can't wait to get rid of my flame angel and keep these again
When will you be able to ship to the uk. I want a frag of your meltdown Favia!
I'm still confusing between favia and micromussa differentiation, sometime they have similar colors
Do you have a tool you use to test actual light for different locations in the tank?
i Like

wild lords have very small polyps, but grow over time in an aquarium if fed well.
@@tidalgardens awesome thanks makes sense I figured out they were lords jus bc they aren’t quite small enough to not be
All my acans did a polyp bailout what can be the cause of this? Only my acans hammers and scolys have died everything else is fine, and my parameters have been stable just a high level of antimony has been reported.
I always wondered what my coral is, at first its too fluffy to be favia or favities, and its not that fluffy for it to be an acan.
What is your T5 combination used on the Miromussa?
Can I keep these in 150-200 par? They seem to do great in 120 par
get the honey bear!
acans in dis bih
You forgot micromussa pacifica or the miny scoly
One pellet per coral, or per polyp?
Per polyp, though mine get 3-4 one mm pellets each every third day.
per coral IMO
Wait so lord acans aren’t photosynthetic??????!?
I can remember when you were supposed to blast them with light the more the better. :(
Tomato/Tamahto who cares. I love them regardless 😁😜
I know what I’m looking at 😂😂
Wait a minute..... Copper band and these corals in one tank??
Please se
