At the D-Day ceremony in France, President Zalenski of Ukraine was shaking hands with American WW-2 Veterans thanking them for saving Europe from Germany.
To his surprise, the D-day veterans response was to thank Zalenski for saving Europe from Russia now.

The forces weren't over-exaggerated, they were annihilated. In the first 2 weeks of fighting 1/3rd of the forces that crossed the border were killed or wounded and reinforcements had to be send from Donetsk and Zaporizhia to bail them out. When they arrived they were obliterated by HIMARS as the US just gave Ukraine permission to strike. At the start of the operation Russia outnumbered Ukraine close to 8 to 1, now they only outnumber Ukraine barely 1.5 to 1. Considering Ukraine normally is 3x better at fighting per soldier, that's very bad news for Russia to put it mildly.

Who believes these reports anymore? Remember in 2022 when the Russians were almost out of missiles, running out of men, running out of artillery, soldiers had no ammo, they had no more tanks, Ukraine would liberate Crimea by summer 2023.. and on and on. Rather believe the "experts" and "unnamed sources" look at what is actually happening.
Not to mention look at Russian military history going back to Borodino...heavy casualties are not something new to the Russians, and despite the propaganda, they are lighter than what Russians endured in previous wars. Ukrainians should know this, having been part of the USSR/Russian Empire for a very very long time.

That incursion was a diversionary tactic to draw forces away from, and weaken the main front. AFU's overwhelming response and unnecessary offensive, rather than defensive blocking action, has cost them and resulted in AFRF expanding positions all across the front line. Hardly a blunder and a tactic right out of Attritional Warfare Doctrine. Read it, it will give great insight on what has, and is likely to, happen in this war.

Take it from a pro. Those lines over the refinery will not save anything. You might not be able to directory hit the Cracker. But hit the instrument cable racks going along the piperacks closed enough to the Controller building and it will take months to reconnect the cables. Hit the hydrogen production unit and the whole Diesel production is down. Tanks make a nice fire but will not interrupt anything. Control buildings are manned 25/7 so I would not want to hit them directly. Normal Operatoren in Russia are not Trainer for restarting after such heavy destructions. Normally the vendors of the specific equipment would have to be called in. According to EU sanctions manufacturers of sanctioned equipment are not even allowed to share any handbook if it is lost in the fire.

So some Ukrainian may well get special ops training from the SBS marines.

My Grandparents on my Father’s side immigrated to Canada around 1930 and I don’t have much information about my Grandparents on my Mother’s side as no one wanted to talk about what happened there. I’m guessing that it was because it was very traumatic.
So I have very little information about my ancestors in Ukraine. I am 64 and I hope that one day I will find out about my family there. My children and Grandchildren ask me about my family in Ukraine and sadly I have no past information to share with them about my Grandparents lives in Ukraine. Ukraine WANTS to be able to consume 10 times that amount. Current US production is (I believe) somewhere around 120,000/month with the new capacity from that plant, but don't quote me on that. Maybe 100 combat ready.

I was sure Russia would fail as they as was pointed out attacked early. My calculations with the predictable way Russian fight is they literally need twice the men. All their men have little training and zero operational training past working in a group of 5. So in such a case they were literally herded and told what roads to take and to never go in any direction but forward. If one group made a bad choice to charge every man coming up would just follow it until they were picked off one by one 24/7 until they were too few to do anything meaningful. It is exactly what happened. In the last few days the Russian men and equipment that were meant to be in the initial attack arrived and they and their gear were smashed by over the border fire from the tech that finally arrived from the West.
I expect that Russia still have about 40,000 men left but supplies and transportation of them are worse than ever. Nothing but the very worse of the pre-war near scrap artillery, tanks and vehicles but mostly civilian vehicles with no more than a military paint job. By September anything strategically important will be back under Ukraine control and Russia will not be able to move forward at all. They will be back to digging in.

My guess is the water landing will be just the other side of the bottleneck leading into Crimea. If Ukraine can reach Crimea by land, then Russia will make a defensive line. At that point, Ukraine pulls a Gen MacArthur and lands behind the line, causing the Russians all sorts of issues.
