Thank you President Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary Blinken, Jake Sullivan and his staff for getting the deal with Israel and Hamas done. Lord Let it move quickly.
I very much doubt it will hold for long. Perhaps... Just perhaps... Trump's promise that if the hostages were not released by his Inauguration Ceremony "all hell will break out" may have had something to do with it but, I am also skeptical about that.
Steve Witkoff, as the Trump administration’s designated Middle East envoy, played a central role in directly engaging with the parties involved in Doha, advancing negotiations, and achieving the breakthrough that led to the final agreement. His active presence in Qatar and hands-on approach seem to have been instrumental in securing the deal. In contrast, Antony Blinken and the Biden administration contributed primarily by passing along their earlier efforts and facilitating a smooth transition of ongoing diplomatic efforts. While their initial groundwork (such as the three-phase proposal from May 2024) may have set a foundation, they were unable to achieve significant progress during their tenure. This dynamic underscores that Witkoff and the incoming Trump administration were the key drivers in achieving the final results, while the Biden administration’s role was more about transferring existing efforts rather than directly shaping the outcome.
