This ending is absolutely insane. It goes from a light-hearted goodbye scene, to an absolutely spine-chilling 2 seconds, and then the happy credits role as if nothing just happened.

That's the point, Kirby (And his friends) thought that everything is OK, went to his (their) planet, the Pop Stat, and they celebrate, but they don't know what happened and, since they are in another galaxy, there is no way to the fairy to return to Pop Star. Remember that she found the Pop Star accidently, that wasn't planned, only big luck to fall in a planet full of heroes! (and enemies)

The fact that she looks directly at the camera is the scariest part like not only is she evil because of 02, she is also knows that you know, almost flaunting that fact in front of you face and thats terrifying

To be honest, I haven't seen this ending OR the other ending as a kid, mainly because I just kept renting it and never even owned it. Then again, even if I had seen this ending back in the N64 days, chances are I probably would have just assumed they were hinting at a sequel or something considering it never even crossed my mind to hunt down all the shards anyway.

Before I re-watched it I thought there would be some obvious tell that the girl in glasses was still possessed by Dark Matter like she'd have some sort of black aura, but it actually doesn't lol. Wow. I just finished replaying Kirby and the Forgotten Land and it's wild to think on how far graphics have come for games. The fight in there genuinely made me think it was something akin to a flash game from way back in the day. But I know like, at the time, this would've been amazing stuff.
