Wireless Remote Throttle and Gearbox Steering for Trolling Motor - Part 2

After posting the original video for this project (see narrative for link), I was contacted by subscriber "Wali" with a solution to improve the steering. He stated that if I changed 2 programming items on the ESC controlling the gearbox motor, the force would be decreased from 100% to 25%. This would result in much smoother (and easier to control) steering. I made the programming changes and his information was correct. Thank you Wali!

Thats a lot better would be nice to see it on the water.Also does the motor lift up out the water ok with the gearbox steering.Great job thanks

Thanks Tony. The design could still lift vertically but not tilt unless it was mounted higher on the shaft.

Is there anything in the programming to make the steering return to center when released?

There might be but I have not gotten that deep into the remote programming.
