Home sweet Hamtramck 💕 Coney dogs are chili dogs. The call to prayer was what they heard when they pulled into the Hamtramck Stadium (baseball) area which is undergoing major renovations. The flags on Campau are sponsored by community members and coordinated thought our Human Relations Commission. Thanks for visiting!

In the 99 years since its incorporation, every mayor of Hamtramck has been Polish American. That will end January 2, 2022 in Hamtramck's centenary year, when Amer Ghailib will be inaugurated, along with an entirely Muslim city council.
With every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The videos are beautiful. However, I thought that taking road trips was about stopping into communities, getting out of your car and actually meeting some of the people who live there and discovering things about neighborhoods. What are you learning on this trip if you are just googling a few facts that it doesn’t even seem like you are reading and just speeding through neighborhoods with a narrative based on your preconceived ideas? Travel can really be amazing and expanding if you keep yourself open to the possibilities of learning and experiencing new things!

Hamtramck is a Muslim majority town. That’s why you heard the call to prayer and why you saw two women in full covering. Would be interesting to know what conflicts there are as Sharia isn’t compatible with Western cultural values.

Guys, please be very careful driving through Detroit! You actually need to speed through, and not drive around like a tourist! Hamtramck is pronounced Ham tram ick, all together. That town used to be a heavily Polish Catholic town. Pope John Paul 2 visited Hamtramck in 1987, that’s how significantly Catholic it was. Unfortunately, the Muslims took over with their Mosques, and those were the prayers you were hearing overhead.
