Thanks for covering this mod! It was really hard to find a tutorial for it and your video is perfect! I think that this mod is pretty underrated compared to IE or Mekanism but it is still very cool!
oh i thought the mod was discontinued! i remember this one from reddit, it's inspired by Fate series. The mod feels super unique, lots of Magic mods are just re-skinned tech mods - like Thaum or Botania, of both i am really big fan, but this one is just pure magic also, it's pronounced as "maho", japanese for magic, specifically the "magic method", typically the bewitching andwitch-esque magic
I remember the brief time I used this mod, there was a really cool weapon that took a ton of mahou to summon and since it was so overpowered you were only allowed a certain number of attacks, so I would cast it, then strengthen it, and then use it until the strengthening wore off, strengthen it again, and would basically be allowed to use it until it timed completely out and by that point, I would’ve regenerated enough mahou to cast it again
The two best ways to restore your Mahou is the Boundary of Life Drain, since its Mahou cost is per boundary, not per mob hit, so every mob in its large range will take equal damage, restore the same amount of health, hunger, and Mahou, all for the same cost, and the durability exchange, since you can also just use a mob farm to fill it, either with Skeletons or Strays dropping bows, Wither Skeletons dropping Stone Swords, Zombified Piglins dropping Gold Swords, Pillagers dropping Crossbows, Vindicators dropping Iron Axes, Piglins potentially dropping Gold armour, or more rarely, Zombies and Skeletons dropping assorted armour. Combine the two and a single mob farm will almost certainly keep you full on health, hunger, and Mahou at all times. Even better with mods like Apotheosis to let spawners work without you being there, Roguelike Dungeons (I think that's the right name) having spawners that are guaranteed to give mobs with armour and weapons, etc.
Thanks for the vídeo! I really like magical-themed mods in Minecraft and this one seens really fun. Hope you make more videos about it, but only if you want, of course.
In japanese, "ou" means "long oh", so mahou would be pronounced "mahoh", with the o sounding like a long version of the o in "mother". If you know german, the vowels in japanese sound really close to that ;)
I’ve been watching a lot of Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus Bride, for those unfamiliar with the Japanese name) and in the anime’s Japanese version “mahou” is used to mean, literally, “magic”. Mahoustukai no Yome does have an English dub, but the subtitling of the Japanese dub has the word magic in place of “mahou,” so my assumption is that “mahou” means “magic” as a general translation.
Thank you for all of the mod coverage that you do and especially the bit-by-bit videos. I have an unrelated question, what mod are you using that highlights the dropped items. I think that is awesome and would love to play around with that. Please and thank you! :D Keep up what you do.
The nice thing is that minecraft makes wolves and tamed wolf seperate, so you can gease tamed wolves, and not harm your doggoes, without having to worry about agressive ones.
Or you can geas the untamed ones as well. They stay neutral unless attacked, so if you can't attack them, you can't accidentally aggro them. Same with Zombified Piglins, Bees (though breaking their hives or taking their honey also aggros them), Iron Golems (though hurting Villagers also aggros them), Villagers (unless you have that special sword, but it would stop Iron Golems aggroing), and several mobs from other mods too.
The boundary of drain life is in my opinion probably the best way to generate mahou, especially if you have a few chunkloaded spawners near it, that are boosted by some kind of spawner mod. If i remember correctly, you get more mahou if more entities are damaged. So if you have a spawner Set up that spawns 20 Mobs in a second, or something like that, and put 10 - 20 of those things under that, you'll have a stupid amount of mahou generation whilst the Limit will go up pretty fast too, as each of those Rituals draws around 20 mahou per interaction. At least that was what i did in atm6 if i remember correctly.
Life Drain is definitely the best if you can get a good enough spawner. Mahou cost is per boundary, and it can hit as many mobs as can fit in its range all at once, and the range is massive, larger than a spawner's range even. And it also restores health and hunger. Plus its a constant Mahour drain, letting it double as easy passive max Mahou boosting. Set it up right and you're practically immortal. Though recently in ATM6 I've been having mine stop working when I get too far from my base, despite having my mob grinder chunkloaded with the upgrade to not require me there, which sucks.
@@Kahadi do you only have the upgrade or do you also have the chunk claimed and force-loaded with ftb? Maybe the spawnermod chunkloading makes some weird stuff that results in the circles not beeing actually loaded.
