This one hit home ALOT. I've been in a position so many times I bite my tongue where people are doing the same things and complaining every year about this exact subject, or not getting the types of clients they want, etc. And I just want to say OMG ACCOUNTABILITY AND SELF AWARENESS IS POWER. 🙃 I feel almost like, HOW did I get so lucky that I wake up happy, healthy, and get paid 5-6 days a week exactly what I charge to do what I love with clients who want to go on my artistic journey with me. The opportunity is always there and I'm so glad yall are sharing that with people. 🤘
    MUCH love ❤️

This is the best information. I would never even imagine to ask a question to lead to these great answers. Props to the person who sent the email asking about the slow season because it got the most thoughtful answer I've ever heard.

This is so motivating and empowering. I have a full time job working for the town I live in, a lovely wife, and we have two kids 3 and under. I got started with an Amazon machine kit a year ago and every night I get I am practicing on fake skin and practicing designs. This makes me feel like my art and dedication to this is real and worth it. I live about 1.5 hrs away from the closest shop. Thank you for the positivity and the push to keep trying. This really got in my head today and Matt has a way of speaking for the soul. Thank you so much.

Sometimes reflection and introspection feeds to us the answers we seek. Looking back may not tell us where we are going, but it sure tells us where we've been so we can keep building forward. The print is an epic reminder of that, even if by accident. Fitting that not only does it face opposite, but also that it has been marked as "test". It takes courage to try new things and to also see ourselves as what we were, to become what we need to be for ourselves, those around us, and those who have yet to step into our lives. Happy holidays all, thank you as always for being so open, honest, and willing to share your most vulnerable selves. Every Monday I paint or create something personal while listening to the newest episode of the podcast, it helps get my brain rolling before the week ahead. Lots to think on as always. Cheers!

I feel like there could be a thousand episodes on this. I’m only three weeks into tbm and my entire life has changed. Even though, I still need to hear this again and again. It’s so powerful to hear you all talk about it because it’s easy at first to have a splinter of disbelief that I could be deserving but your words reinforce it like a steal beam. I truly feel blessed in life and to hear your words weekly.
    THIS SHIT WORKS!!!!!!❤️

We all come from somewhere, the past isn't what defines us, but it's what we dwell on. I can see myself implementing the changes I need. From my floor to my ceiling, in growth itself. Thank you all for being who you are. Inspirational? Or awakening the conscience, the world itself needs to listen. Can't wait to take the mastery course. Saving everyday towards that goal.

Tattoo artists LOVE to say,”People get the tattoo they deserve.” I like to turn that around and say,”Artists get the clients they deserve.”
If you don’t value your work and your time, no one else will. It’s up to you to know and asset your worth.
When I run up against someone saying,”Aaaaw, so and so shop will do it for a half that.” I have a few replies (said when a shrug, NO snark, and WITH a snails):
~well, I guess they think that’s what their work is worth, but this is what it’s worth to me, and this is what it costs for me to stay in business.
~no problem. I’ll be here when you need a cover up. Lol!
~yup. And McDonald’s is cheaper than Ruth’s Chris steak house, but they are NOT the same.
The truth is, if you lower your rate out of fear, they’ll never pay full price again, and they’ll NEVER respect your process because you don’t respect yourself.

Thank you! I definitely struggle with the self-worth, this talk was really helpful.. And to hear specific, such as thinking along the lines of 'who am i to earn this much money/charge more than x amount'.. but, it's not about that.
And the different frequencies people are on/hitting.
Aaand the slap up the side of the face that was, people-pleasing is equal to lying manipulator.
    A good slap though, haha!

WOW, there's a lot this episode could mean to me! Firstly, It reminds me of the episode Matt did awhile back talking about self worth with Winnie... I think this is a great expansion on that episode, I definitely wanted to Hip and Joshs povs on these kinds of topics. Couldn't have been more insightful... and I love this flipped image Josh showed at the end! I did not expect that lol Merry Christmas guys!!!

A lot of the time, I feel like I'm the monkey with his clenched fist holding on to the banana too long because I'm holding out. Hope that these miracles will come to me if I'm trying hard at what I'm doing. but what I'm doing is clinching. The mandatory art which isn't getting me those miracles. Also where you guys are talking about at the end about manifesting a $1000 a day. I feel like it's nice, but maybe that's where I'm going wrong. I'm looking for practice and more experiences to hold my craft. And that's what I've been thinking about. Which led me to you guys at this beautiful podcast. But maybe I should be thinking more about money?

Hey! Thanks for listening.:) what I mean is don't be afraid to go
out and strike up a conversation with potential clients. When I
am out and about I always see half finished poorly done tattoos.
If I were a starving artist, I would use that as a conversation
starter and an opportunity to share my work with them. This could lead to potential clients. Don’t be afraid to approach people, if you can tell they are not into it or feel bothered. Simply be polite and move on.:)
