      But he's not done with the doomed commercial and apartment buildings yet. And there's the harbor area he can go to meet the union boss or follow the drug trafficking leads. :P I get the feeling it'll soon be the morning of day 3 in game and he'll go for another lap around the newly opened map before eventually jogging to the corpse by the episode 15.

    1:05:43 The subjects this game treads are intentionally abstract, it plays on how people fetishize all-consuming extremist approaches to reality. You understand these subjects as much as the 41st does - don't be *afraid* to pick a side. The "none of the above" options are moralist, as you've figured out.

    You indeed need to spend a skill point to open more thought slots. Also don't worry about the politics and terminology, it will come together if you listen enough.
    Edit: Good to see it came together in the episode actually with the thoughts 👏

    We've had (publicly known) digital computers since the 1930's and analogue computers much, much longer than that. Disco Elysium's level of technology parallels our own, but instead of largely abandoning analogue computing research like our economic world and leaders did, they continued it. :)
    Good question whether the computer filament is based on any real tech we know or are allowed to know of, so I guess that's not something you're supposed to wonder. :P Maybe it is, having seen some of the ancient spherical and cubic instruments of varying origin and materials. Perhaps such things were used in combination with impossible structures such as pyramids and star forts.

    how thoughts work: if you haven't gotten this info yet, the "temporary research bonus" only applies during the timeframe its being "researched"(when you're internalizing). Once that's done it unlocks a DIFFERENT bonus, and usually its actually a bonus not a negative, but you don't know what the bonus will be until you research it fully. So even if something seems bad because of the temporary research bonus, keep in mind that it IS actually temporary.

    A different build would have had one of your inner voices say “Goracy Kubek is _not_ his name. Whatever you do, do _not_ address this man as Goracy Kubek!” - and then still give you the option, of course. Was kinda hoping you’d just take Logic’s word for it

    Honestly I've never seen someone convince Plaisance to bring Annette inside. You said it seems easy but I think it was because you got the nail biting bit about Annette that it was possible. Usually Plaisance just tells you off for telling her how to parent her daughter and then holds a grudge in later conversations.

    15:13 This game throws a *lot* of information at you, so no judgement here. Like you said, the text is very dense. Just to clarify (no spoilers, just stuff that's already been said), the RCM is the Revachol Citizens Militia. From my understanding, as a militia it's not actually a government organization. It's a group of citizens who organized to keep peace in the area, so they're effectively police, but not actually. Legally, the Coalition runs Revachol, but they don't actively govern. Revachol doesn't have its own government.

    • @LukaelPlays
      @LukaelPlays  Місяць тому +1

      It's all quite a bit strange.... you would think the police is put in place by the government, but because they don't really seem to have an acting government, like you said it's more just a citizens initiative. But then if nobody is giving you the authority, what authority do you really have? I would think none?? Like if the RCM arrests you or fines you, and you don't comply, what can they really do lol

    • @Silent_Depths
      @Silent_Depths Місяць тому +1

      @@LukaelPlays Could ask any Belgian about that. They've been breaking their own records of having no government whatsoever since the large protests in the 90's. I lived, studied and worked around the area on one occasion when the government idea was on hiatus. Things were just fine from an outsider perspective, quite self-governing folk they are.

    • @SarahMaeBea
      @SarahMaeBea Місяць тому

      @@LukaelPlays Yeah that's the union lawyer's argument too. They don't acknowledge the RCM's authority. It's a very interesting and tense backdrop the writers have created.

      @pomamoba Місяць тому +2

      @@LukaelPlaysRevachol was a colonial empire, like say, British empire, then communists overthrew the king, establishing a USSR-like state. Then Coalition which is like NATO, an alliance of capitalist democracies, invaded Revachol, put an end to the communists. That was 43 years ago. Since then Revachol has been like Western Berlin: temporarily occupied by the allies, without any elections or government of their own. People don’t get to decide their laws or what would government do, because there isn’t one, so nobody can make laws. You’re basically in international waters as far as laws go. No government-no public schools, no pensions, no public healthcare. And no taxes, which is what people from Coalition love, they get to register their companies there and save money.
      RCM is technically a volunteer force, and the only reason they are considered police is because occupying countries allow them to. The courts are theirs.
      That’s why some people consider you vigilantes-nobody elected you, you don’t really represent the local population, they didn’t pick the laws, the government and they can’t really hold you accountable, it’s all up to the occupation forces. And if you look at Martinesse-place is a dump, it’s been 43 years and people are living in bombed houses and playing games in craters. That’s why Union people say you’re enforcing a violent privatization, from their point of view you’re just another soldier of the occupation forces, put there to make sure no riots happen, while foreign businesses use the lack of taxes or regulations to make some cash.

    You're correct, you need to spend one skill point to unlock another Thought slot (and then a second skill point to internalize the thought)
    As for "what's going on in this game", it might help to remember that all the thoughts and such are just inside the protagonist's head. There's no cop-god declaring you a Sorry Cop. That's the protagonist beating himself up. The ideology thoughts (such as the Kingdom of Conscience) are the protagonist trying to use ideology as a way out of his post-breakup mid-life crisis. "What if I became a centrist? What if I became a communist? What if I became a fascist?")

    • @Meta_Mage
