Thank you for your wonderful cultural channel mr Kathleen. Iam Arabic lady subscriber to several British and American UA-cam channels. We are as foreigners subscribers as overseas students want to increase our cultural level improve our English as well . I applied to work as English teacher in academy improving plan for weak students but , unfortunately nobody register. I hope I will work soon . I am very happy to be subscriber in your channel as I read about profile you’re author , educator specialist in teacher preparation. You wrote books praix 11 elementary. Definition of praix is reading language arts , mathematics, science, social studies. In teaching means student centered critical thinking, which includes ethical perspective and with future aim of improving students outcomes. The difference between phonological awareness is ability to recognize and manipulate spoken parts of words including syllables, onset time , phonemic awareness is ability to identify and manipulate individual sounds ( phonemes) in spoken words . My name is khatoon it’s Turkish origin means Nobel lady as princess. I wish I can learn a lot from your knowledge. Happy thanksgiving and Christmas in advance. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .
Hi there, I have an understanding of each term, but when I’m asked: “what’s the role of phonological and phonemic awareness in reading development?” I can’t come up with a well written response 🤦🏻♀️😬😢
You can always say that they are the foundational skills of reading. They are the first skills. Students must acquire before moving onto phonics and fluency. Understanding the sounds in words is essential in being able to develop letter-sound correspondence, which comes after understanding phonemic and phonological awareness.
Great video ! Thank you very much.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.😊
