I have been living here in the US for the last 20 years Nupur. I totally get the emotional and social aspects of your reasoning. I grew up in India and lived there for 30 years before moving here. I just beg to differ with one specific point you mentioned at the very beginning. Doing chores, doing laundry, and cleaning dishes is something only people from the subcontinent get maids or household help. For many countries doing these chores is very normal... ultimately self-help is the best help
With the current lifestyle and habits, its very difficult to do the household chores as well. In the olden days it was manageable where the females were mostly confined to the house and were used ti doing it daily and maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. House-help now is a must for us all.
Very rightly put together. Living abroad is more of a social status more than anything theses days. I can completely relate since I also took the same decision of coming back to India after spending some time in Canada and it was a great decision
Nupur, had you already found the right partner in the US and not had a job at big tech your experience would have been different. Now with AI and ultra-competitiveness in India, it's difficult to find a job for returnees since Indian cos prefer non-NRIs. Also, doing daily household chores is not a complete negative. E.g. cooking own food is a plus. India is very different than 10 years ago and I see people adopting large parts of US culture in Tier 1 cities. Of course, being close to family is invaluable, but it depends on family dynamics as well. Ultimately, there is no right or wrong answer, pros and cons both sides. To each their own.
Excellent articulation, Nupur! Genuineness comes across in your narration and that brings authenticity. Anyone in your position can easily relate to this!
As Mountain Height Increases the Depth of Valley do Increases ... As Positivity increases simultaneously Negativity also increases ... life is just a Balance ... but Humans tends to have only positive part and discards negative side ... but truth is they both come together ...thats how life is ...
Everything you said is bang on my experience! Especially coming home alone after a half marathon and no one to make food or tea for you and no one to share and celebrate your feat in person!!! Thank you for this video and sharing your journey ✨
i am so glad i found someone who also felt that way after a run. perhaps running teams can provide more post run support. Thanks Niveditha for sharing!
You came to this life alone and you go alone. None of the people who welcomed us with tea or coffee were able to change our lives, provide a career or give good jobs or taught us how to be independent. I wish I was born in USA.
I've run 3 full marathons and many halves. I finish a run, have a protein shake and get on with life... Nothing much to miss about someone not being there to make tea or not... just a part of the routine. I get my "kicks" my strava app giving me my stats.. that's it. I will never consult with a Nupur type who has a huge bias based on her own experiences... she probably will not have any clue on alternate POVs (Ps OVs).
Bang on about loneliness. It’s very very true for singles in US. It’s fine when you are young and your friends are single as well. But once they go on to have families , one can get very lonely and job/hobbies can still leave you with a void. And this is true for the local population as well , not just Indians. Social fabric is very difficult to form unless you are a hard core extrovert.
Nicely put together. Few of my acquaintances who attempted to move back to India after living in US for 10+ years have all failed. I also failed with this attempt. However, I do not regret trying. Your video has nicely summarized the differences in US and India lifestyle.
Nupur, You are an achiever no matter where you live. You are creating an impact by helping NRI families, that just adds up to your list of achievements. All the best!
I can very well relate to emotional suppoort part and waiting late hours for my parents to wake so that I can speak to them. Despite making money and having a comfortable life, the void is unavoidable, Especially since Indians are used be having uncles, aunts ,cousins, parents around them. Its not easy to let go of all the relatives and live a solo life. Its seemed like a big compromise. I do miss the dollars, but I am more happy in India will relatively less money.
Its Great Decision 🎉. Also I wish everyone should not take it seriously. It's absolutely based on your own Situation. If you are someone in a position to Move your self and your family up in the financial and Social Ladder and if you get this kind of opportunity , never miss it !!! It's a great country where you can Earn more , change your life and come back to India and contribute to your Mother India which has supported you from the beginning!!!
I've run 3 full marathons and many halves. I finish a run, have a protein shake and get on with life... I feel something missing in her statement. Working in Google with 10ths experience only earning 100k usd is not at all a good pay. Min it should be 200k plus. Also as explained by some one having maids for everything is only an Indian culture and it is more of a colonial or slavery attitude. In Europe or developed countries even top executives can not afford or have servants. So your argument on points made by you is totally misleading.
I totally agree and I’m shocked to hear that she could get 8 hours of sleep only once she was in India.. what are those weekends for? Even if the weekdays were busy with work.. I’m surprised to see these 1000s of NRIs getting consultation from someone having no kids and not seeing full picture of life in US but can suggest you to move to India
100k on hand after taxes, social security, 401k, etc means the person makes around 200k . Also there are RSUs (restricted stock options). Also people working in HR do not make that much even in big companies till they reach a higher level. So 100k seems about right
I see people all around me in Washington DC & New York have house help who come in to clean & do the laundry. Some have them in once a week, some every day except weekends, some hire firms. These aren’t people of just Indian origin. Try and look at all social classes & you maybe surprised.
This is a new channel-- you can sub to this one. The older one was 10 years old and we (zero 1 netowork and me) intend to take this new channel forward for better quality and denser content :)
I am an nri living in the USA for 38 years. Yes, I understand missing family and friends and emotional support. I love the spiritual and religious atmosphere that you can find only in India. Why won't I move back? The rampant corruption, casteism, social injustice, and a broken down legal system that is destroying India. As i belong to the so-called foward caste, my children would never have gotten the same educational and professional opportunities that they could aim for as Americans. They were able to do this while attending public schools and colleges. Cost of food, rent, transportation school fees, etc. is unbelievable in India. Nupur must remember that once you start living in India, you pay your bills in rupees. You are no longer that rich American flaunting dollars. Moving to India so that you can have fast food and domestic help is kind of flimsy. No, America is not Utopia, but one cannot and should not take on the role of an expert to advise others who are contemplating such a drastic move. She, in my opinion, doesn't have the necessary experience or contemplation. I still maintain my familial, cultural, and religious ties to India while leading a socially and environmentally conscientious lifestyle in the US.😊
It is all about being aware and managing one's expectations. One's own mindset, attitude, lifestyle, people, language, culture, etc.. has to align to the local wherever you are. This applies to even those who move from one state to another state within India. One has to change and adapt to the system you move into. Do not expect the other way around, which many people tend to do and feel frustrated and blame the system.
As the first immigrant to the U.S., it's a place where you lay down the foundation, and it's a sacrifice that everyone experiences. Cooking and cleaning are part of everyday life, and I believe people in India still do the same. If you're proactive and make the right decisions, you'll never feel lonely. The quality of life in the U.S. is much better, especially if you know where you belong and where you'll fit in.
It is always a WISE decision to move to his/ her motherland after accumulating enough wealth there because the cost of living here has shot up tremendously in the last few years. But if you have a family, the siblings won't allow you that to happen.
It’s all about being low in love , feeling lonely and it’s felt more in US , it’s not about cleaning or cleaning dishes as there’s so much more money for doing the same thing than India .
Trust me on this one, all your friends who are making $500k feel bad for you from the inside and some even pity you. They are just too nice to tell it to your face.
What are your thoughts on pollution and population, the political system, taxation, purchasing power, the justice system, and especially the education system that the next generation has to navigate? Young people in India often end up working for pennies due to the high corporate greed prevalent there. I am an NRI staying in the US, and while people are welcomed to pinch me on this comment, just for saying facts.
Excellent views of living in US and India. Great work on video short and all key features. Please post more videos that interest you and other as you have amazing skill as youtuber. I kind of feel like my separated wife has similar interests, believe and likes as you. Overall Amazing video
US is not the same.. in some places you can afford a helper for dishes on a 2 person income.. get good Indian food from restaurants as well as cloud kitchens even on a daily basis.. with many food and grocery delivery apps available now life has become even simple.. but I align on timely emotional support from parents and family in India.. in my opinion make home at the place you live and be content as every place and country has its own merits and demerits.. I think people working especially in corporate culture with a 2 day weekend should stop complaining of no work life balance and not being able to even sleep for 8 hours.. what about doctors or any public service related employees who don’t get the high salaries but still they work for minimum 6 days a week. I think inspiration and motivation should be taken comparing to those whose life is even harder and feel gratitude for having a blessed life.
Nice decision we are not machines.....bharat is bharat..the next big story of life time.. Our loved ones are here...... Spending time with family is so imp try as much as possible and enjoy every little moment.
You were single and you weren't making enough money are the reasons to move to India? As a good looking female yourself, I am sure you could have found a successful person of your choice and triple your cash flow as a couple and continue to live in the US. Probably you were yearning for the social fabric of India that's def not in the US. Being in the US for 24 years, I can say, there are no CLOSE friends!. The system here wont allow people to show cards open and always maintain certain intrinsic distance. The life is super mechanical. I lived in mid town Manhattan, worked there for a decade+ and lived all over US. It was all fine in 20s, 30s and 40s. In all these years, it was clear to me that I want to move back to India someday. I am telling you why I would be moving to India in 2025 - for social fabric. I did 3 month pilot in 2023 being in India and convinced that social fabric I grew up with is still intact albeit some changes like more nuclear families. Loved those 3 months being with school and college friends who are globe trotters but base rooted in very well in Bangalore!. Also India has changed a lot in last 10+ years!, from entertainment, infrastructure and hospitality perspective. Guess I have made enough money, there is only time value left in life and packing bags to India soon before US rat race locks me in here!. Lots of respect for the US and it's a great place to work hard to achieve anything if one is career driven. Lots of love for India. Glad you were able to develop a successful consulting business and pick people's brain on RTI with your content! Good luck!. If I end up seeing you anywhere in India, will be sure to say hello to you! :) Enjoy good life!
India will become like the U.S. in 20 years, many tier 1 cities it’s the same lifestyle . it’s only due to the low cost of labor for unskilled workers in India . The family support makes sense why someone may want to move back.
In terms of the cost of labor genius , the ultra low cost of labor is what allows so called Middle class to have a lazy lifestyle. I doubt the underclass is happy with working for low wages.
No such "coming back to India" youtuber tells about Why He/She has to leave India at first place? Also, they must be thankful first for being abroad to experience the difference!!
इनकी अँग्रेज़ी सुनकर वीडियो बंद कर दिया भारत में हैं आम लोगों से dave हैं तो हिंदी या गुजराती में बोलतीं होंगी I also talk in English I am 80 years old and managing alone, with my support system. कोई अकेलापन नहीं क्योंकि ये Indiia है मैडम😊
Bang on target! Maybe one day someone will make a movie about your life story. Reasons I clicked and liked this video- 1. It was recommended by none other than Google 😅 2. Your reasoning seems relatable! though I think I was looking for more in-depth analysis - maybe your book has it 3. Just to see who else is in the same shoes.. lol😅 Q: Do you think you would have been able to make this decision if you were not single? Good luck! Cheers!!
America is actually a place you can fully enjoy being single. Totally disagree with the opposite. In India you must be married to avoid prying eyes. This video is such an incorrect description of the US. Like girl clearly you didn’t have any friends
Who stopped you from hiring someone to do the cleaning or for that matter doing the cooking? Most people in the US I know who can afford to do so in fact do have someone come in to do the cleaning & laundry. I’m guessing you didn’t actually earn enough. Who stopped you from pursuing a relationship? Did no one want to go out with you? Are you hoping your parents find you an arranged marriage? $2100 is not that high a rent & if that is a huge part of your salary you weren’t earning much. Of course you can exploit poor people in India unlike in the US.
Thank you for sharing your experience-it's clear you're very action-oriented! Just to clarify, did you end up getting your green card after 13 years or before you made it up your mind? I am asking because, as a green card holder myself, I sometimes feel drawn to go back for my own reasons, which seem to overlap with yours. I think the US lifestyle and culture do not let you retire completely.
99% of Indians love to settle in the USA because they are happy.Washing dishes in the dishwasher is not a big deal since modern dishwasher can wash dishes without washing them.Washer and dryer are easy to use. They say different strokes for different folks and how true it is.All she had to do is to hire maid once a week to clean the house
@balkbor The main reason many Indians settle here is the access to modern infrastructure and a lifestyle that offers more than just basic amenities. Back in India, my friends and family often express frustration about paying high taxes while receiving minimal government support. When I mentioned not retiring, I meant that you're always managing everything on your own, from small tasks to major responsibilities. However, nothing compares to the care and support you can receive in India. It's all trade off!
There are definitely good reasons to move back however if you have done so in the last two years one may think you my have lost your job, and may have found it tough to land a new one on a visa.
What about communal reservation inIndia? If you belong to the forward caste can you get a seat inMBBS???2) the wretched reserv system is a reason for a NRI not to return 3) But then in Bharat we don't have gun culture, datingchildren sending their parents to jail for not permitting to loaf around,havingBF,marry_today-divo-tomorrow,concept of unwed mother's,....etc. etc..UncleSam can never be equated with Bharat Mata.,,,,jaiRadhe!
Thanks for sharing! San Francisco and New York are good tourist places, but they are worst places to live. They can be a lively place if somebody wants to live a promiscuous life.
Wealthy Indians are living droves each year for better shores due to high taxes, poor infra, rigged elections, pollution. And here we have ppl cmg back 😂
Out of your 10 minutes of video 9 minutes are pictures and videos filed abroad, just shows how bad india's cleanliness, infrastructure etc is... you couldn't even take a 10 sec video of any common areas in India, that just shows how bad a country is India.
When 99.99% people just wake up every day in the hope of getting a chance to move abroad.. you are like that 00.01% that Dettol shows in advertisements 😂😂😂😂.. having maids is nothing..US life is stable and everyone manages that differently..
This is all BS..everyone journey is unique. There are some places in US where you get best of both worlds....decide for yourself. The lamest reason I hear is I can't do dishes that's why I moved to India....wth! If you make more money you can get a maid in any country lol. The only logical point is the emotional support in case parents are back hom
you did not mention the most important fact that you are probably 30 and will miss out on marriage and motherhood. that is a huge price to pay for sucess. u are not willing to pay this price and this is the real reason you have come back. Welcome back.
Hello Nupur 👋 Your story is very interesting....I would like to invite you on our platform to share your talk 😊 Looking forward to hearing from you Thank you 😊
Your home is your home
Your people are your people
Your country is your country.
Good you realised.
The reason for domestic help is laziness and rich of people of india are spoiled. They call it comfort but in reality it is lazy.
She is papa ki pari 😂😂
No. Some form of domestic help must be there
With the current lifestyle and habits, its very difficult to do the household chores as well. In the olden days it was manageable where the females were mostly confined to the house and were used ti doing it daily and maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. House-help now is a must for us all.
Very nicely brought out experiences of a successful NRI.
I recently went to India to see my family. The best days of my life I never felt more calm and peaceful and happiness happiness happiness.
Excellent articulation, Nupur! Genuineness comes across in your narration and that brings authenticity. Anyone in your position can easily relate to this!

Very good choice 👍 I can totally understand and support you. Its very difficult to do what you have done, really brave move. 🌻
and "trap of social success" you hit the nail on its head!!!
😊Good Decision Be Happy whereever you stay INDIA is Great

In terms of the cost of labor genius , the ultra low cost of labor is what allows so called Middle class to have a lazy lifestyle. I doubt the underclass is happy with working for low wages.
No such "coming back to India" youtuber tells about Why He/She has to leave India at first place? Also, they must be thankful first for being abroad to experience the difference!!
what does your parents think about you being you not married?
😂😂😂
@@rohanutep81 ??
U took right decision
Here in India people are craving to relocate to US and she wasted the opportunity
@rohanutep81 when you experience personally in USA than you can realise actual MAZA is where
Thanks for sharing your story so eloquently!
Thanks Sherin!
India is very expensive these days especially Bangalore, some of the prices are as comparable to US
Did you get green card citizenship?
You can't stay outside usa more than 1 year even if you have green card...
thats means
u came to india for swiggy and zomato 😂😂😂😂
इनकी अँग्रेज़ी सुनकर वीडियो बंद कर दिया भारत में हैं आम लोगों से dave हैं तो हिंदी या गुजराती में बोलतीं होंगी
I also talk in English I am 80 years old and managing alone, with my support system.
कोई अकेलापन नहीं क्योंकि ये Indiia है मैडम😊
Bang on target! Maybe one day someone will make a movie about your life story.
Reasons I clicked and liked this video-
1. It was recommended by none other than Google 😅
2. Your reasoning seems relatable! though I think I was looking for more in-depth analysis - maybe your book has it
3. Just to see who else is in the same shoes.. lol😅
Q: Do you think you would have been able to make this decision if you were not single?
Good luck!
Reality:travel in India every 3 years to extend H1B
Thank you for sharing your experience-it's clear you're very action-oriented! Just to clarify, did you end up getting your green card after 13 years or before you made it up your mind? I am asking because, as a green card holder myself, I sometimes feel drawn to go back for my own reasons, which seem to overlap with yours. I think the US lifestyle and culture do not let you retire completely.
Love your point about not retiring!
Guys move abroad if you get a chance, dont believe these youtubers
Yup. Do it and feel the pain first hand. The other option is learn from others experience.
Wow Nupur. 🎉
There are definitely good reasons to move back however if you have done so in the last two years one may think you my have lost your job, and may have found it tough to land a new one on a visa.
Yes the real reason is not revealed no one is so crazy to take a such a decision
That reminds me to Ring up my Daughter in Europe😮 thanks
Many are moving out of India due to corruption, taxes and poor life quality.
@thyagarajant.r.3256 there are many problems that need attention.
In India healthcare is good
This editing looks like Aevy TV one
Living alone is a fuckin ghoul and USA is lonely. need someone emotionally invested in one friends don’t cut it
Your Visa / permit must have expired... hence the move
Not necessarily, people have reason to move back to India. And you can hold judgement to your self. People have life and choices
@ajitoct24 visas and permits do get expired.. what is "being judgemental" about it? Why are you so triggered?
Reality: You got fired from Google
Lucky!
So beautifully put ❤
If one has 300 cr INR net worth then living in India is fine otherwise, settle for less. 🎉❤
Thank you..😊
Wow best video
Thanks for sharing! San Francisco and New York are good tourist places, but they are worst places to live. They can be a lively place if somebody wants to live a promiscuous life.
Wealthy Indians are living droves each year for better shores due to high taxes, poor infra, rigged elections, pollution. And here we have ppl cmg back 😂
Living or leaving?
Madam aap ki life aapki choice …… plz don’t demotivate other young aspirants
Out of your 10 minutes of video 9 minutes are pictures and videos filed abroad, just shows how bad india's cleanliness, infrastructure etc is... you couldn't even take a 10 sec video of any common areas in India, that just shows how bad a country is India.
Their is no place like home !
When 99.99% people just wake up every day in the hope of getting a chance to move abroad.. you are like that 00.01% that Dettol shows in advertisements 😂😂😂😂.. having maids is nothing..US life is stable and everyone manages that differently..
U can only feel after many years in abroad and achieve your goals
How can you say 99.99%. Why everyone is having that opinion that USA is everything and everyone wants to live there only. It is not entirely True.
If india is so good, then why indian want to go to the USA desperately . Even they use donkey rout. I'm just curious.
Life's purpose is to prepare for afterlife.
Bas kar Nupur rulayegi kya?
Must have made tonnes of money ..in India how many people do that !!!!!
100k in google....hmmmm....something aint right
you did not mention the most important fact that you are probably 30 and will miss out on marriage and motherhood. that is a huge price to pay for sucess. u are not willing to pay this price and this is the real reason you have come back. Welcome back.
This is a very sexist comment.
Very sensible
