Hi Janick, 1) Thanks dude, appreciate that :) 2) Great question! You actually have to do some reinventing of certain chords when you move past say fret 14. The frets are at such an angle there, that you have to play things differently. Good example would be any Minor 7th chord. If you'd take Em7 (fret 12 on E, D, G) I would play the root with my index, and use my ring finger and pinky for D and G. If I move that shape up the neck to say fret 17 (Am7), my pinky and ring finger would be in big trouble because of the steep angle. Instead of using those, I just twist my hand, play the root with my middle finger and bar G and C with my index finger. It's the same chord, but played differently and as you can imagine I had to do some reinventing of how to play certain stuff because of this problem. Once you get the new shapes down, it becomes very easy and natural to play chords on a fanned bass, but there's just that initial hump you need to get over. I hope this helps! Regards, Werner.
