I hate peoples who are like “I HATE DANCE IT SUCKS! IM QUITTING!” But then they come back the next day, week, year, etc... like gurl just quit if you “hate” it so much lol 😂
honestly dancing for me was never going to become my future.. only something i wanted to do to keep fit i guess. my parents won’t let me quit now because they think i’ll stay at home and be lazy, but dancing is really clashing with my studies and i’m not doing that well in school
Kaidi Liu or that too. I knew a girl who was 10 and her mom forced her to take dance class. She was in my beginner class and she would stand with her arms crossed the entire time and she would barely move. Literally. We would sometimes have to shove her so she would move to the center. (Not hardly shove her just lightly because she wouldn’t walk. She could but she wouldn’t.) She was so scared and frightened because she was forced to take ballet and she didn’t want too.
And then there's the girl who thinks she's a prima ballerina but she's 13 and not that good and use to be really nice but now doesn't talk to u cause u got the lead in that dance and she was in the core
I’m the underdog- started at age 12 (6 months ago) and now my teacher has cleared me for pointe all bc everyday I stretch and do class and strengthen and work harder than everyone else to catch up
I feel like people who start in like late tween or early teens either have a really tough time catching up or advance really quickly luckily you caught up great!!
OMG the Balanchine one cracked me up HAHA I'm actually trained using RAD syllabus my whole life and idk why my hands are always doing that weird looking claw shape, like it's basically my bad habit! But when I came to the States for college a few years back, I once joined an open class and the instructor is a former principal of NYCB, she was trained directly under mr. B. She said "wow, you're such a natural! Your hands are exactly like how Balanchine used to taught us back in the days. I didn't even teach you that and you just somehow did it perfectly" .... I was like whaaaaattttt *surprised pikachu face*

I had been doing ballet for 6 years when I was 12 I earned my first pair of point shoes, but I gave up right after. Now I'm 16 and I regret so much quitting, I completely feel in love with ballet again and I am using quarentine to get back my wasted time. I think it would be really hard, but not impossible, because when I did ballet classes I only had 1 hour class per week and didn't did shit during the other days, I just thought that 1h would be enough to be a professional and then I got depressed because I wasn't evolving and stopped. Any advice? I need all the help in the world
It’s never too late to take classes again! I took ballet from 4 - 14 and then stopped when I moved to a Rural town. But like you I feel back in love with dance! But now I’m a college student and am talking classes with dance majors (while being a theater and English major). It’s never too late to do something you enjoy!
One of my teachers at SAB gave me great advice on hands. It was to remember the first time you held your girl(or boy) friend’s hand. Don’t think about making it look the same, just the way it made you feel.
since i'm not a dancer, i was the underdog when i was a theater kid no one liked me and all the other girls thought our teacher didn't like me either, but then she started giving me all the lead roles, and the others liked me even less but then i quit and i got friends and the teachers always had me participate in school "shows(?)"

Bonus points if they are "only here because my parents got me in and then told me like yesterday i have to go but i'd rather be watching my boyfriend in his Louis Vuitton fashion show rn" . like i'm sorry, if you don't wanna be there don't take that place away from someone else who does and don't ruin the experience for the other people there by acting like you're better than them because you somehow got in without even wanting/trying to.

If you have nice long legs, great feet, good extension, long arms, and if you can dance and have some strength on pointe, you should have a good chance at SAB. See the comments I left here...I got really annoyed abt this video.
I’m not exactly the underdog, but I was quite good at a fairly young age, so I was put into a more advanced class with one of my other friends that was moving up fast. A lot of girls who were a year older that me got really pissy and complained that they should be in the older class instead of me, and straight to me face asked why I was put in to an advanced class instead of them. This was 3-4 years ago, and I just had one of them ask me for a duo this year... I’m not one that likes bragging, but I know that I’m good/average, and that’s the only reason she want to dance with me. I said no, obviously. But sometimes, it’s really tough being an underdog or being young and good. Love you all and hope you don’t listen to what others say about you and push through. You’ll get there

theres this girl in my ballet class, and shes the best in the class, but shes only good because her mom forced her to do ballet one she was 2 and she keeps saying she wants to quit but she never does
This is my first year of pointe ballet and I’m 13. All of the girls in my class are in 4th and 5th grade. So naturally because I’m older I pick up stuff faster so I’m more advanced and don’t need as much attention than the little girls. So I guess I would say I’m the quiet girl who doesn’t ask questions, I just do what I’m taught, but at the same time I get attention from the girls and teachers because I’m just more advanced
im always the under dog im really good and I have one ballet friend and the teachers are always just like oh good job and im still dancing in level 2 and im not in company

To me I see it as kinda breaking your arm lines but I mean their dances are cool
I love pretty much all of the Balanchine style, except the hands. I think they kinda break your arm lines, and that regular hands look better.
ITZDEELISHOUS in my class, we literally do all of Balanchine except the claw, LOL
I really only like the raised arms in Balanchine. The choreo Isn’t my favorite. I prefer the Russian/vagnova style for most things.

Lololol my studio does balanchine, but we do NOT do that hand lmaooo
This is my first year of pointe ballet and I’m 13. All of the girls in my class are in 4th and 5th grade. So naturally because I’m older I pick up stuff faster so I’m more advanced and don’t need as much attention than the little girls. So I guess I would say I’m the quiet girl who doesn’t ask questions, I just do what I’m taught, but at the same time I get attention from the girls and teachers because I’m just more advanced

Balanchine hands look similar to hands we do in gymnastics like without bending your fingers to make the claw shape.
