Interesting, I was unaware this was even necessary. I've been using my Sony TV remote to control my RPi 4 in the Argon 1 one case and if I remember correctly it was all "automagic" in KODI.
V1 of the Argon One didn't have an IR receiver built-in. At least mine didn't, but it was silk-screened onto the PCB so maybe it could be added later or a separate purchase option I wasn't aware of. Perhaps you are using a different receiver connected to the USB port?
@@WagnersTechTalk I guess the Rpi 4 in the Argon 1 case I'm running KODI with is probably using the TV's IR port. After all, I'm using the TV's remote control to control it. I seriously never gave it much thought.
@@OmegaTI You are able to control LibreELEC (Kodi) with your TV remote because both your TV and your Rpi4 support HDMI CEC (not all TVs support it). In LibreELEC go to Options > System > Input > Peripherals > CEC Adapter to change HDMi CEC settings like "switch source to this device on startup", "devices to power on during startup", "when the TV is switched off do ..." So your TV and Rpi4 running LibreELEC are communicating through the HDMI cable to better integrate with each other. Otherwise you would have to use one remote for your TV, one for Kodi, one for your TV Set top box, one for your AV Receiver ...
I have the argon one v2 case that I put into my arcade cabinet to run RetroPie. Do you know if the remote will be able to power off the RetroPie? Looking for an easy power off solution for my nephew.
The IR Receiver would need to be visible from the cabinet. Depending on how you mount it, I would think it would work fine for that. Keep in mind, last I checked it didn't do a safe shutdown (see here): wagnerstechtalk.com/argonone/#Notes_about_the_IR_Remote . Not sure if things have changed since.
For some reason I cannot get this to work with my RPi4. The remote works for powering on but won't work for anything else. Any idea that might fix that issue? I didn't install into PiOS initially, could that be the issue?
Please let me know what OS you're using and what you're trying to do. In this video, I do mention that aside from Power On/Off and volume control in PiOS that's about all you get. However, where this remote is useful is in LibreElec+Kodi. Outside of that, quite limited. More here: wagnerstechtalk.com/argonone/#Argon_ONE_V2_Infrared_ReceiverRemote
Thank you J LS, I have not made a video on a music player under RetroPie. What are you wanting to do in RetroPie, use it as a Jukebox type of thing playing music in the background during a game? That might be kind of distracting to the game. I know in Recalbox you can add background music, but that would only play while in the menu and not during the gameplay.
@@WagnersTechTalk That's what I'm talking about, during a break or searching for games, where you can control the order, crossfade, etc. But for retropie not recalbox, have you heard of Naprosnia? Can make a video, on how to install Naprosnia, for the retropie? Thanks for responding. Be well and stay safe.
Das Addon läuft leider unter Libreelec 10.0 Beta wegen Python 3 nicht. Kommt da noch ein Update? Unfortunately, the add-on does not run under Libreelec 10.0 Beta due to Python 3. Is there another update coming?

Great Tutorial, and the USB Stick Decal is sweet
Thank you Jaz808! That USB stick was a stocking stuffer, love it 👍
Is really cool to have remote controll your home media streamer or anythink on pi. Nice
Hi unfortunately this addon does not work on libreelec 19 (Matrix) since it doesn't support python 2 anymore. Is there any solution?

hi, I did all the steps for LibreElec... but the arrow buttons on my remote don't work... the power button does... what am I missing?
