In the garden!
This completely elevated Arrival
And Arrival elevated this song.
Yea, they kinda elevated each other. They gave completely new meanings to each other. The story of Arrival made this song even more heartbreaking but still calming, and the song made the scene so damn intense.
It was written for shutter island
@@apersiannihilist5632 I know. It worked better in the movie Arrival IMO.
Togo master-race
Can't hear this without remembering the ending of Arrival (2016). The perfect aching accompaniment to that heartbreaking, life-affirming film.
They really couldn't have picked a more fitting piece for such a moving film.
This masterpiece makes me cry everytime, without fail.
Me too, extremely emotional piece of music.
@Simon Simon as a graduate of the English Royal College of Music, having specialised in performance science and composition, I know enough to know what I find to be good music, Simon.
@Simon Simon
Very true, however I think it is you that needs to look up the definition/meaning of the word masterpiece.
@@sashal1493 *mic drop* 👏
Yes
This composition by Ricther has all the elements that humans seek in life: beauty, peace, serenity, and stillness.
What a beautiful comment. Totally agree. All the best❤
and sorrow
In many words there, you hav3 described Divinity.
So beautifully depicted. Thank you
@@nb.7148 You're welcome,Nb
Music is the closest thing we got to a time machine.

Not I
Used to think time by hans was the best this takes that spot
That's like saying 'Pizza..... Who likes it"?
To be honest i think this is the most beautiful piece of music ever written and im not sure why but whenever i listen to this i get a huge lump in my throat and tears from my eyes and i feel the pure beauty of this music but also i feel a pain in my soul i can't explain.
For me no other piece of music has this affect on me.
Timeless peace of art.

This score can make any adult cry like a baby first, and then fills you up with so much strength at the end. What a powerful music.
The bow control by the first violins is outstanding, practically every inch of the bow is used
The last of us episode 3 could literally be a stand alone movie of a beautiful romantic tale with the most perfect ending! It’s one of the best episodes I’ve ever watched and this music was the cherry on the top
This has always been my favorite piece of music-it literally draws tears from my eyes the second I hear the violin enter. When I watched that Last of Us episode I was already on the verge of crying…then I hear this song start and it immediately came flooding out of me 😭 I’m not a big cryer during movies and my gf had never seen anything bring me to tears so quickly lol I had to explain that this song just gets me for some reason.
In a similar way to Arrival being paired with this, Ep3 changed me. Never been so broken by something so beautiful.
In my opinion Richter is the best postclassical composer in the world
Dolores: you have to let me go
Teddy: i can't
This makes me think of two people who love each other deeply but know it isn't meant to be and the fact that they both realize this and must acknowledge it, is tearing them apart inside.
Yes I agree Damein . In fact it's happening with me and a dear friend I've loved from afar , for over 25 years . I've written a poem about it ________ to this song . If you would please have a listen and read my words while you play the video I would be most grateful . It sets the pace and the tone . (I hope you agree but it's not important that you do ) Thank You
My dear , my dear 'tis for naught which you fear
Your grace , your elegance , your style and your charm ,
are all I shall ever have need
Be it day , be it night , 'tis a beautiful sight
each time I look upon thee
If nothing I say reaches into your heart ,
nor changes the thoughts there conceived
Believe that the angels in heaven give me life ,
but you are the air that I breathe .

Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt from castaway sprang to mind.
@@garyschraa7947 beautiful.
If this isn't played at my funeral, I'm not going
Brilliant! I feel the same way about the last movement of Gustav Mahler’s symphony no. 2, “The Resurrection”.
@@paulhefley5216 not heard it mate, but I'll check it out 👌
This destroys & hugs me all at once.
This piece never fails to make me cry, not even once.
There are no words. Mere words will not describe it. Words fall short of grasping this feeling. Words are so inadequate in comparison to this. And yet I am here writing what? Words.
This is the masterpiece that always gives me shivers every time I listen to it. This is attributed to the fact that it is the one piece that introduced me to Max Richter, one who I now regard as my favourite artist!
This makes me think about my mother and how she loves me! 💗
It’s amazing seeing everyone’s comments ,its like negative energy doesn’t exist ,its also amazing how inspiring everyone’s comments are ,life is very precious and full of wonderful beautiful people its honor to be alive with everyone right now
this song never fails to give me goosebumps every single time T.T
This song can take you through any emotion journey... music is the key! One love.... im a death metal guitarist and i fkn love this piece... 💚👽
It’s one of the most amazing masterpieces of all time
This reaches into my very soul and connects directly with the Creator of all.
To be at one with both God and man.
Thank you Max.
A masterpiece that takes you to another beautiful place.
I love this piece so much. One of my favorite pieces of all time.
Masterpiece !!!!
This piece just cuts to the soul, especially in Shutter Island.
Yes, cuts the soul, one of my favorite movies, and this song feels like it has every meaning to life
This piece is one the most beautiful and one of the deepest pieces I've ever listened...
This Song Is a reason to live
At best, the people in the comments should one day see Max live. To fully connect with this music. It’s everything.
Stunning... Literally pure emotion in musical form. I can't get enough of Max's music especially Sleep
What a boring and heartless place the world would be without music like this hmm 🥰🎼
I know it was on Stranger than Fiction. But for me, the best use of this masterpiece is in Shutter Island. That scene is beautiful 👏
Have you seen Arrival?
I agree with you. But I need to also disagree with you. I knew about this piece when watching "Arrival". It's so beautiful and so suited to the movie I couldn't forget it even after the movie ended.
Yes for Shutter Island. For me this music shows pain like nothing else
It's like there's a kind of emotional thing that triggers as soon as I start listening to this masterpiece.
Watching this with the current situation the world is living, makes think and reflect.... Will it be possible at some point to recover our lives before the pandemic? It's sad to think that even the music got affected with the orchestras being unable to play on a stage.
PURE ART...
PURE ART...
PERFECT...
MASTERPIECE...
PERFECT...
This is absolutely fabulous I love it so much thank you Max Richter !!!! 💙💙💙💙💙
I' ve been listening to this for years now, it is full of emotion....
Totally transported me in time. Like I was watching this wonderful movie all over again, with all the emotions I experienced then.
This is my favourite composition by Max Richter. Sublime. 👏
I first heard this the day our sweet dog McLane had to leave us. Always reminds me of him.
Reminds me of the Togo movie
Quelle émotion!....Si la musique pouvait réconcilier les peuples!...la paix en découlerait...
I would cry my eys off if i was there live
Who are those people disliking this beautiful music?
They're terrorists ! 😅
This is, and will forever be my favorite piece sinds ive watched the arrival, its amazing
Live muss das unfassbar schön und bewegend sein...so habe ich schon oft Tränen in den Augen, genial gemacht von Max Richter
Im crying right now
mr Richter ❤
it's strange how this piece sounds better as a humble string quintet, than it does on full orchestra. Still a masterpiece, but man, did Max hit bullseye with this one.
Arrival ❤️😭😭
BBC Radio3, this week, 12.00 tiis 13.00 composer of the week. Max, i cannt stop listening to his music
Certainly the most beautiful track of Max Richter accompanied by the sublime Mari Samuelsen.
She is a goddes
This piece is the‘ basso continuo’ of my life.
In my adolescence, I had fewer words to express my thoughts, pains, feelings, and even myself. This masterpiece was an mediation between me and the real world in front of me.
I cant stop listening , its very calming and uplifting at the same time ,i imagine my soul connecting with God's infinite love ,the most beautiful i ever heard ,wow!!!!!
I see all my little life here, all my downs and falls, happiness and childhood, mothers eyes and hands of my father that i never touch again. I am crying
Sublime.
I was genuinely moved today watching Queen Elizabeth II funeral and this music matches mood felt in England as she was such an inspirational person to many. Rest in peace.
Absolutely stunning. Perhaps the perfect piece of music.
The Leftovers
Words can not describe the beauty of this masterpiece and the masterpiece that is "The Leftovers" ✌️ & ❤️
This performance take me breath away!!
How do you listen to this without breaking?
This piece makes me introspective about the hardships and greatness of life and it’s many nuances.
You don't. You break, every time
Be dead inside emotionally.
Undeniable opening! Stand up my Violists 🥰
ايه الروعة دي 🌹
It's pure bliss listening to this
Stunning and reaches my heart.
It's incredibly touching
What a stunningly beautiful piece of music!! ❤️❤️❤️
The most beautiful piece I've ever heard.
I'd have loved to have been there to hear this truly incredible beautiful masterpiece.......absolutely mesmerising .
Thank you for this beautiful gift
ok but why whoever filmed this didn't show the first violins coming in? what a missed opportunity
I was surprised as well... and disapointed.
Violists 😍 Violas are a beautiful but rare opening. I love us 💜 Violins are exquisite but we compliment to the sensuality and depth of a piece
So perfect.
Oh waaww......... The power of music never ceases to amaze me.
This music shows how beautiful and tragic life can be. And in sorrow you find love and beauty. And in darkness you find light.
Beautiful.
Beautiful player of classic music
This piece on Arrival made me cry
Absolutely beautiful
When I heard that tonight, I was so freshly reminded, how Roots Manuva used that beginning string arrangements as a sample in his "I know your face"
goosebumps
Incredible.
Beautiful!
Man, I m near 40 years, and I ignore how someone can wrote this. I know i will never can do it or understand how someone can did it. This is fucking Harmonic, i live for harmony and you just wrote it
Is this the concert in 2018? I was right there. A magnificent performance indeed.
So Long for live Performances ....
Heard this beautiful piece in the film Arrival and the show The Last of Us. I'm a hard man - have taken a lot of knocks - but this one makes me blubber like a little kid.
Amazing
What a masterpiece!
Totally amazing 🤩 thanks
Music is a meditation, treatment
😍😍 very beautiful peace😍😍
it's so beautiful...
TLOU - Bill and Frank
This is one of the most beautiful and one of the saddest pieces of music I have ever heard. I get chills whenever I hear it. If you want to take the experience of Richter's music to another level I encourage you to watch David Dawson's choreography set to his music. It is a breathtaking collaboration and a profound expression of the human condition.
Wonderful.
This is my favourite and also "Dream 3".
Have you watched Hans Zimmer play Time, live? its Glorious, songs like this touch the soul in a very different way...
It's reflect and feel music for me. A wild, beautiful, real life effect for my human being.
Here I am. Crying. Again.
Penetrates deep into my heart, every bit of my body is soaked.....
Mesmerizing ❤
