Below is some info..

SIR CLOUGH WILLIAMS-ELLIS
Clough's lifelong concern was with Architecture, Landscape Design, the protection of Rural Wales and Conservation. At Portmeirion, Clough gave his ideas physical and practical expression.
HISTORY OF PORTMEIRION CLOUGH WILLIAMS-ELLIS SUSAN WILLIAMS-ELLIS THE PRISONER THE ARCHIVES PORTMEIRION POTTERY
""I think that Beauty, The Strange Necessity - as Rebecca West once called it - is something that matters profoundly to humanity, and that unless the race of man perishes from the earth, it will increasingly value that Grace, will seek it, and will ultimately attain it." - Sir Clough Williams-Ellis"
Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis, Kt. CBE. MC. LLD. FRIBA. FRTPI. FILA etc. (1883-1978). Born at Gayton, Northamptonshire on 28 May the second son of the Rev. John Clough Williams-Ellis and Ellen Mabel Greaves. Educated at Oundle School; Trinity College, Cambridge; the Architectural Association School, London (for three months, 1902-03).
Best known as the genius behind the creation of Portmeirion Village (1925 to 1975), Clough was a tireless campaigner for the environment and a founding member of both CPRE (Council for the Protection of Rural England) established in 1926 and CPRW (now Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales) in 1928. He was an advocate of rural preservation, amenity planning, industrial design and colourful architecture. "I think that Beauty, The Strange Necessity - as Rebecca West once called it - is something that matters profoundly to humanity, and that unless the race of man perishes from the earth, it will increasingly value that Grace, will seek it, and will ultimately attain it."
He was an influential advocate of the establishment of National Parks in England and Wales and was responsible for the demarcation of Snowdonia National Park's boundary which he presented to King George and Queen Elizabeth in 1951. He built for clients in Wales, England and Ireland and even once in Shanghai. His contribution to architecture has been considerable.
In 1915 he married Amabel Strachey (1894 -1984). They met at a meeting at which he took up a challenge set by her father St. Loe Strachey, editor-proprietor of The Spectator to design affordable rural housing.
Clough and Amabel were married at St. Martha's Church on the Pilgrims' Way on 31st July 1915. Clough was a volunteer Lieutenant in the Welsh Guards and later served in the Royal Tank Corps till 1918 (awarded the Military Cross). They had two daughters, Susan, an Artist (married Euan Cooper-Willis 1945, four children), and Charlotte, a Scientist (married Lindsay Wallace 1945, five children) and one son Christopher (1923-1944), who fell in action before Monte Cassino as an ensign in the Welsh Guards.
Clough's masterpiece, Portmeirion Village, has been an inspiration to fellow architects, most notably to Frank Lloyd Wright who came in 1956 during his one and only visit to his ancestral country - Wales. Clough wanted to demonstrate that architectural good manners were good for business. Portmeirion stands as a testament to his vision and his genius.
"Now Portmeirion, having celebrated its fiftieth birthday in 1976 with suitable gaiety and ebullience, has in a curious and most gratifying way, taken over from me to stand in my place as I myself recede into the friendly shade of the middle nineties." - Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, 1977
Portmeirion Village provided the backdrop for the 1960's cult classic series, The Prisoner, starring Patrick McGoohan.
Patrick McGoohan not only starred as Number Six, the leading role in The Prisoner, he was also the creator and driving force behind the 17 episode series.
It was probably one of the most influential pieces of television of the 1960's not only in the UK and USA, but also in France, Australia, and many other countries. Even The Beatles were fans! Its cult status was confirmed with the establishment in the 1970's of the official Prisoner Appreciation Society, Six of One.
The series is rich in imagery and visual impact. The surreal architecture of the village with its Mediterranean atmosphere coupled with the high-tech interiors, tannoys, surveillance cameras and piped music create a bizarre combination.
Each year, fans of the series hold The Prisoner Convention here at Portmeirion with public events including the Election Parade, Tally-Ho Theatre, and Human Chess. Portmeirion Village is also home to The Prisoner Shop, featuring official clothing, merchandise and more. - Розваги

Breath taking beauty! Thank you.
You would think you were in Italy 👌 ( on a sunny day )
Love a drone with a mind of its own!
What a fabulous place - pure eccentric Britishness!
That drone was a 'very naughty boy ' 😆...yep absolutely...I can see why it went hand in hand with the Prisoner 😵💫
Been to Portmeirion a couple of times and what a beautiful serene place to go. Bless you Lee, for sharing this wonderful experience with us. Also reminds me of watching the Prisoner. Thank you again 🙏💎🙏💎🙏
Thank you 🙏 yes I loved it....came home and watched the Prisoner 😆 was great to see all the same places I was shouting at the tele " I was standing there" 😆...what a weird programme though😵💫
@@LHLgardenservices Certainly was Lee. Portmeirion was the perfect place to film it and it’s just wonderful that nothing has changed over the years 👍👍👍
@andreashaynes3346 yes absolutely 👍👍
@@LHLgardenservices Oh dear, you’re already talking to the telly! Stage 2 is talking to the wall. Stage 3 is when the wall answers back 😂
@@lindamccann3880 😂😂
Hi Lee, I had to google this town. It's beautiful. Lovely buildings and pretty gardens also coastal views even sunshine 🌞
Thanks for sharing this lovely video.
I love flowers in lawns but I would need to have some type of boarder around them.
❤ from Japan ATM
Konnichiwa 👋 😊......yes like a little Italy 😎
@@LHLgardenservicesArigato.
I thought you were in Italy. Maybe next time ❤
Honestly if you told me you made the gardens yourself I'd believe you. Your eye for detail (And I feel, aesthetic preference) matches.
😊😊🙏
'We want, Information, Information, Information!' I watched The Prisoner as a kid and those bouncing balls were more scary than anything on Doctor Who! Lots of nicely framed shots and views there Lee. The sun was shining and ice cream weather! That was the summer of '24!
Yes mate a very scary weird programme 😳 think that's why I avoided it when u was young 😂...think ill give it a go now though after watching an episode ( it does look good) especially after going to Portmeirion it's still exactly the same.... yeah hope that wasn't our summer 😬
@@LHLgardenservices Perhaps now you've been there and seen it without the threat of bouncing balls it should not give you nightmares! It looks a lovely day out, Er, but a bit far from me, so I'll just stick with the memories of the Daleks and Cybermen!
@@tonycritcher3419 😂😂😛
Beautiful! Love to visit one day. Fun fact : XTC shot 2 music videos there
Wow didn't know that....I like xtc too 🤔
Beautiful place, top video Lee
Cheers mate...thought you'd like a bit of Wales 😉
Great video! Was there a big white bouncing ball following you? 🤣
😅😅...no thank god....it was scary enough watching that on TV....( what the hell was that all about? 😆😆)
@@LHLgardenservices I don’t think I understood anything that went on in that series, other than the constant feelings of threat and foreboding! 😂
@@audreyfforbes-hamilton it was crazy that's for sure 😆😆
I am not A number I am A free man
NO....you are 5.5....not quite 6 😆
Beautiful place and I like your talk about the daisies and buttercups in lawns. The background music was sad to my ears .
😛 two out of three ain't bad
Enjoyed this Lee. Thanks for sharing x
Cheers the Lains ...have you been?... and also have you watched the Prisoner? Christ it's weird 😐 x
@@LHLgardenservices yes I've been a few times love, on holiday with Mum n Dad as a 6 year old, we were staying in a cottage near Barmouth. On the beach one day I was sat playing with me bucket and spade about 100ft from them, next thing I saw Dad diving into deep water in front of me, a riptide. He got me ok and I was clinging into his neck tightly, we got back to shore with a crowd around us all cheering my Dad, he saved my life that day I was a non swimmer, still can't swim now despite my floaters lol xx
@LiverLainey19 wow.. lucky 🤗....don't worry you'd be able to float to hawii now 😉 😆😆x
been there a few times, the last time it was a bit run down, looks beautiful now, what drone are you using now? love how it hovers when it looses you, then you go back saying, come on!!! lol, daisies and dandelions in the right place can look really nice
It was £20 bloody quid to get in...so it should be nice 🙈😆😆 I feel like I've refurbished a room 💰
@@LHLgardenservices that purchased one of them lovely tulips
Thanks for sharing Lee . I have never been there but did watch the prisoner way back then, as a tv series it was well before it's time. The gardens were beautiful then and still are today. Did you see a giant white ball ? lol
You're welcome 😊...it was weird to see it exactly the same on the Prisoner ( which was also weird 😅)....except ...no white balls 🤷♂️😆
Does Wisteria grow on that tunnel? Such a lovely place. 😊
Yes mate 😊 I shall have to return when in flower 👌
Busman's holiday?
Yep 😆😆
Wikipedia say: "Portmeirion is a FOLLY tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales" and "In architecture, a FOLLY is a building constructed primarily for decoration, but suggesting through its appearance some other purpose, or of such extravagant appearance that it transcends the range of usual garden buildings".
Not quite a folly!! The hotel was built as a hotel ...have you read the video description 👀
@@LHLgardenservices Now I have. Wow! A lot of interesting info!
