Newport Carnival Celebrating 100 Years - Isle of Wight Main Procession - 23 July 2022

- Newport Carnival celebrated its 100-year carnival celebrations by putting on the biggest carnival Newport has seen in around 40 years.
The main procession followed a vehicle parade at 7pm leaving Church Litten, South Street and Town Lane for the most extensive form up in recent decades.
Organisers have worked tirelessly over the past 2 years to make this year one to remember.
The 25-minute-long parade cascaded its way around Newport and finished at The Quay around 2 hours after it set off.
The next carnival for Newport is their Illuminated procession which is to be held on Thursday 25th August at 9pm.

Swifty that was a great carnival, lots of fun had by all, that comment "don't tell your wife" showed just how much fun everyone was having.
@@grays257 Many years ago it seemed every town had a carnival but alas those times are gone so when you see one again and all those people having fun it brings back memories of years gone by 😥
@@swifty2202 I can remember as a kid we went to the IoW many times, we always stayed in Ryde and they had a carnival there, but we always seemed to miss it, it was either the week before or the week after our holiday. In those days there was no internet and there was no way of checking the date of the carnival like you can today🥲
