  • Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point is considered by many to be the world's largest roller coaster. Built by Rocky Mountain Construction and designed by Alan Schilke, this monstrous hybrid coaster has the record for the most airtime of any coaster. And I believe it! You spend more time out of your seat than you're in it. And RMC did this while reusing Mean Streak's old structure. Is this the world's best coaster? Find out in this review!

    I rode this at the end of my only day at cedar point without knowing anything about it. Longest wait in line I've ever waited, was hoping it would be worth it. Most fun I've ever had on a coaster. This ride and top thrill dragster (and x at magic mtn) are the only rides I can recall just smiling and laughing the entire time. Just pure fun. This ride has no slow spots, just go go go on your toes the whole time. Loved it.

    This has been consistently great every visit, every ride, any weather condition, and any row. I got trimless rides on both my cold October 2018 visit and with half-full trains in 2020. When trimless, I noticed the 2nd half is even stronger. My 2021 rides seemed to have the 2nd half as strong as those trimless rides, even though the trims hit. I currently have it as my overall # 2, but it's very close. I think that Twisted Timbers & Storm Chaser have the strongest airtime of any coasters I've ridden, but Steel Vengeance is in that sweet spot that's strong enough for me, but not too much to scare away others.
    I think the phone incident that brought about the phone policy happened on Twisted Timbers, and they just applied the same policy to both. My arrival to Cedar Point on an evening in 2018 was the exact day of the hot sauce incident on Steel Vengeance, so all the staff were on high alert for what we had in our hands. Several people with phones out in line got caught and were sent away.

    • @CanobieCoaster

    Every coaster youtubers favorite ride to review, all time Steel Vengeance. Ever since 2018, this is what had been widely considered the world's best coaster and still holds thst title for most. I'm not going to get into this ride cause there I just to many good things to say about it. The number of airtime moments is way to many for anyone to count if you don't know it already. The outer banks are fantastic. From the big elements in the beginning to the even better small elements in the second half, there is so much to love about it. And the pacing is something that is hard to beat by even other RMCs. Nobody could possibly ever forget about hot sauce the ride.

    This is such a fantastic ride. It was a walk-on the day we were there. We rode it back-to-back 3 times, and I was fine with it. For some bizarre reason, this ride beat me the hell up. I've ridden Twisted Colossus on a monthly basis back when I was living in So Cal (moved to the PNW about a year and a half ago) and I did pretty well on that. However on Steel Vengeance my thighs were in massive pain throughout the ride. I got a break during the inversions (which were really enjoyable). But overall it was just so painful for me. I'll be going again next year because I absolutely love the other coasters at Cedar Point. I'm also looking to lose a lot of weight before my next trip so I'm hoping that also helps with my comfort on the ride. I really want to love this ride!!!!

    This ride definitely holds the record for loudest lift hill. It's straight up a power drill through the ears! Jokes aside, the ride is relentless and that's what I love about it. I honestly have a hard time thinking of anything negative about it (besides the long waits and ear-shattering lift hill). CP is my home park and this is easily my favorite ride there and anywhere. My first ride on this was before opening day during the passholder preview day and I rode it at night. Due to problems with the restraints all day long, they kept delaying our ride window. We waited just over three hours for it. I got on, tired and hungry, but I got off thinking "What the hell just happened??"

    You Cannot Talk About Cedar Point Without Mentioning How Insane Steel Vengance Is. I Love Steel Vengance ( Or Steeve As A Nickname ). I Marathon It Whenever I Visit Cedar Point. My Most Rides I Had In One Day Was About 23 Rides In A Row ( Waiting In Clueline And Station Exluded ). The Airtime Begins To Hurt After A Number Of Rides But That Doesn't Take Away From The Breathtaking Experience Steel Vengance Has To Offer. It's RMC's Best Creation PERIOD! I Don't Think Any Other RMC Can Get As Close As Steel Vengance Itself ( Except Maybe ArieForce One At Funspot But We'll See Once It Opened. )
    Thanks RMC!

    If you're looking for some extra airtime, use the shinguards to your advantage! If you sit forward or push your legs out a bit, the restraint hits your shins and gives you some extra airtime. I had an absolutely phenomenal night ride doing that.

    Since I managed to write most of my impressions of SteVE in my last comment, this one will be shorter. The subsequent turn after the last 0G roll is what piles on the confusion for not only the GP but also coaster enthusiasts like me, and quintessentially encapsulates the craziness of the ride that is Steal Vengeance, which has a prime ride time of 80 seconds (give or take 2 seconds depending on the weather and how much the MCBR uses the trim breaks). I think Steel Vengeance is the best coaster I've ridden, but it doesn't do that by delivering ONLY my favourite elements; that award goes to Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland which I prefer better than Leviathan (and even slightly more than Millennium Force,) but overall neither Behemoth nor Millennium Force beats Steal Vengeance OVERALL, which still holds my #1 spot of any and every coaster I've ridden since my one and so far only visit to Cedar Point in late May 2018. Thanks for this great video!

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  2 роки тому

      You're welcome. That final transition out of the zero-G roll really is weird and it's a testament to RMC's smoothness it doesn't kill you.

    • @Paolo8772
      @Paolo8772 2 роки тому

      @@CanobieCoaster Yes, It's both smooth and confusing to everyone! It could quintessentially be the crux of Steel Vengeance's effect on all its guests, due to SteVe's relentlessness, duration and where that element is in the ride, when guests are impressed with all that they've experienced from the ride up to that moment.
      Even if the outward banked turn is better, nobody is feeling the ride has lasted longer than expected at that point yet. The only part I find slightly "rough" is the double up to the MCBR and the final bunny hops. But that moment after the last inversion is the biggest single tear jerker from awe moment (if it could be attributed to one moment alone which I do NOT personally think I can) but is sufficient for being the quintessential moment to create awe in the riders, considering the vast context within which it exists and causing every awe struck and teary eyed enthusiastic guest to ask themselves or anyone that will listen "WTF just happened?!" Once an enthusiast has experienced the back car of that ride, tears of awe cannot be stopped.
      Thanks for this review of what I consider myself lucky enough to have ridden and is also considered to be the world's best roller coaster and what is so far the best coaster I've ridden.

    It is my personal number one. My credit count is decent but not insane (221) to give you an idea. I do prefer it to the likes of i305, Lightning Rod, Fury, Skyrush, and more. I don't think it's insurmountable, I actually think if Skyrush was more comfortable it might be my number 1. But for now, it tops my list by a considerable margin. Haven't been to Cedar Point yet, but I definitely want to get there and ride this. I think the best thing about Steel Vengeance from looking at POVs and reviews is the pacing. Most hypers of this height and length lose a lot of speed by the end, but Steel Vengeance seems to never let up. The only RMC hybrid I've been on is Wicked Cyclone and when that is running slow, it crawls through the last third of the layout, so it's not something RMC got perfect on every project.

    If you have the disability pass I highly recommend a at Cedar point. They do give return times but it is based on a grace period depending on how crowded the day is and not based on the current wait time meaning if they circle and advertised 45 minute weight then the weight would be 45 minutes but if you make steel vengeance the first ride of your day regardless of the wait time you will actually get right on within 5 to 10 minutes and you can choose any row you want to ask the ride operators will grant that for you. In a fantasy scenario I'd love to see the entire thing surrounded by theming like the coasters at Phantasialand but that isn't necessary and isn't realistic. And I would pick a different restraint system if I could wave a magic wand and change whatever I wanted.
    If I could only change one thing about this coaster it would be the queue line. If a coaster usually has a 90 minute wait (and even a 30 minute wait in the fast lane) then they should come up with a way to entertain the people in line. I think there ought to be something to keep people's attention while they wait. It could be fun placards to read. It could be theming. It could be videos of old Peanuts cartoons. But you've got to give people something to make the wait less boring. This is actually my biggest complaint about Cedar Point in general.
    But again, I have nothing bad to nitpick about the coaster itself so I guess that would make it perfect.

I do like their hand rest/grab bars though. And they also need to work on quieting their lift hills too. Really dislike how they haven't seemed to address any of these issues. @@CanobieCoaster I kind of say the same thing, that I don't have a problem with them. And I guess I don't. But then I think, lap bars are far too heavy and hard to push up on which slows down operations and is a pain, they often times will lock further on you as you get into positive G's, the seats sometimes lack padding right near your tailbone, the shin guards, the lack of space in the trains (barely enough room for your foot to sit straight) etc. I can't help but feel I'm giving them a bit of slack. I mean imagine an RMC coaster with raised up auditorium seating, that's wide open/no sides, with one of those over the shoulder like lapbar systems new Intamin's and Mack's use that lock in place, with tons of room, good padding etc.

B&M lists Fury 325, Leviathan, Orion, and Goliath at La Ronde as hyper coasters, although none of those are between 200 and 300 feet. Your definition of hyper can be different, as Intamin’s “hyper” coasters are labeled as mega coasters, even though most are between 200 and 300 feet. For simplicity, I consider any ride between 200 and 300 feet and hyper coaster, even Steel Vengeance and Xcelerator. I would also consider Red Force a giga, even though it does not have a lift hill.

    Before watching: Steel Vengeance is NOT a perfect coaster, even by my standards and preferences; I prefer more sustained elements taken at any speed, but generally faster. But if this was a perfect coaster, there'd be no reason to build other thrill coasters after this one. Having said that: it is my favourite coaster of the coasters I've ridden due to the bigger picture; all the elements thrown at you in 78 seconds; 28.2 seconds of airtime as measured in car 3 (not including the pre lift hill bunny hills), which means airtime is even more in cars that are further from the middle, especially the front and back cars.
    I rode it a total of only 10 times in the 4 days I was there in late May 2018 (due to one train ops from a minor collision in the station). The 1st time I rode it was in the back row and my impression was stunned shock resulting in tears of appreciation of a coaster one has yet to digest after one's 1st ride. I rode it 8 times in either rows 11 or 12 (the back car) and once in row 9 (the 2nd back car) and once in row 7 (the third back car), so I never got to ride it in the front half of the train, but I did love my row 9 ride almost as much as I did rows 11 and 12.
    Other than SteVe being guilty for not focusing on my favourite elements; my only criticism is that I'd prefer the last bunny hills to be larger and less numerous. I'm also afraid of the airtime of the double up to the MCBR in the front because it hurt my penis even in the back car; during a portion of the ride where where any ups (singe, double triple etc,) are the weakest in the back car for airtime, yet I found to be the strongest airtime on Steel Vengeance, even in the back seat, because no other part of the ride hurt any part of my body as much as the double ups to the MCBR hurt my... (I said it before. Am I allowed to say it hurt a part of my body that it hurt and use the correct name for that part of my body?)
    My favourite part of the ride was the outward banked turn. I'd've loved the "top hat" that preceded it but I found the drop off it to interrupt the blissful sensation of airtime with a jerk to the right; a disappointing sensation which the outward banked turn managed to avoid.

    Millennium Force is better - but Vengeance will eat you alive. Loved Mean Streak - especially towards the end because the lines didn't exist. You could ride for hours on it with no wait.

      The lack of lines for Mean Streak was the ride's biggest pro.
