re: "he cut his own eyelids off to stay awake"- I've seen this movie probably a hundred times and only realize maybe the last time I watched it that that was probably actually Freddy slicing off the kid's eyelids, similar to how he makes it appear that kids are attempting to unalive themselves. Somehow makes it even darker.

13:27 The older lady was in Carrie, she played the last surviving girl's mother - she was the one on the phone at the end. Part 2 was why I found it easy to watch Freddy movies as a kid, the silly level was maxed out fr. This one is definitely the best one. The girl that plays Kristen here is Dewey from Scream's real life sister. Freddy movies are definitely campy, but Freddy gets grosser w the kills as the franchise proceeds. All better than Halloween 3,4 and 5 imo though. So you can gauge from there lol.
This movie's awesome!! Also, unpopular opinion, but part 4 is my fav lol. The plot is not as tight as in parts 1&3, but it's fun as shit and it looks amazing, soundtrack kicks ass too. It also has imo the best kills and practical effects. Hopefully you'll watch it!
You have a nice room homie. Yeah, Nightmare part 2 is hit or miss for some people. Its a favorite in the LGBT community and has a cult following. DREAM WARRIOR is a fan favorite. In my opinion, the original 1984 version is my favorite
