    New 2018 pro owner, at the beginning i was a little bit nervous cause there are no serious la Pavoni technician in my country, but looks like very simple, i will do everything by myself

    Hi. Thanks for the video. I seem to have watched a lot on Pavoni’s the last two days:) Yours was the easiest to follow by far.
    A few days ago I unpacked a few boxes that I actually packed twenty years ago & found my old pavoni.
    I’d bought it second hand & had had no idea really how it worked. I only managed weak horrible coffee, this was before UA-cam and I had no manual. I didn’t pay a lot for it and it looked so beautiful that I just had it on display.
    I then moved to Spain from the UK & never unpacked it, three years ago I moved to the Philippines & have finally unpacked it.
    First thing I noticed was that the cup with the handle which you put the coffee in wasn’t attached & that the thing I thought was the coffee basket was separate, it had a big rubber washer/gasket around it. Since watching all these videos I’ve since realised that it’s not the basket, it’s the shower head. Can’t find the basket yet.
    The thing is after watching your video I refitted shower head & the washer as you said, flat side down but I simply cannot get the coffee basket holder into the machine. It fits without the washer.
    Do you have any idea what could have happened? It’s as if the washer is too fat.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated as there isn’t going to be a service center in this country & to have it shipped to Europe would cost a fortune.
    It’s so beautiful but I don’t want to have it out on display again as I have a new modern espresso machine. I’d much rather use this even though I always think it’s going to explode & I burnt myself twice yesterday ha ha.
    Thank you

      I think you have the wrong portafilter gasket. LP made several different versions of these. Do you know what year machine you have? There are some great resources in your area, especially Bplus.biz in Taiwan. Also, some places ship worldwide.
      I suggest you join our LP Lever Facebook group. I'm a mod there. There are many people in our group (almost 5K) who can help, too. Link is in the description above.

    Hi Bruce, thanks for sharing. I purchased the Koyo NK6/12TN on Amazon and new lever pins on Etsy, it’s amazing how big a difference it makes on the lever, plus the new stainless steel pins look great. It was a very small price for a big change.

    I just got a La Pavoni this year. Thanks for all your videos on how to take things apart!
    I was flushing the group head without the portafilter in and I noticed that the water is coming out at an angle to the right. I took the group head apart to see if there was any obvious reason why it might be doing so. The group head parts seemed to be aligned. When I put it back together and tried flushing again, the water is still coming out at a angle but towards the left now.
    Just wondering if you have any suggestions. Is there any way to test if it is the shower cap itself?

      You're welcome for the videos. I like seeing how things work. 😄
      Can you be specific about the year/model you have? Mine's a 2007 Professional, which means it's a Millennium (Gen3) machine with a large boiler.
      When you took off the GH, did you also take off the shower screen? It could be coffee residue accumulation above the shower screen.
      Or if it's a Gen 2 (PreMillennium), water from the boiler gets inserted directly into the brew chamber, so it's a known problem with these machines. You can overcome this problem by using a puck screen on top of the grounds in your basket.
      You can also bring the lever all the way up and then lower it a bit, so the water enters the brew chamber more slowly.
      Let me know the year/model of your machine, so we can discuss further.

    Hey Bruce! At 2:50 you talk quite a bit about your pins that you´ve replaced alongside the bearings from the handle section. I tried to find these on eBay but im just not able to find it. Would you mind, looking into your orders and send a link? I would love to have those on mine as well!

      Here is the bearing. They aren't cheap now. I bought mine for about half this price. You can probably find a cheaper source. Search NK6/12TN Needle Roller Bearing. But here's where I bought mine:

    Hi Bruce i have installed the ims shower screen on my Ep few days ago and now get a dent in my coffee pucks each time i brew. It is always in the same place like if the flow got distributed unevenly. Any idea why ?

    • @BrucePappas
      @BrucePappas  3 роки тому

      This is common. You didn't see it before because the stock screen does not let water through as easily. You are getting this from the entry hole behind the piston as the lever approached the top. Raise the lever quickly when water starts entering to the brew chamber, so it doesn't squirt straight down. Personally, I use a CSS (contact show screen) available from Bplus.biz to prevent this and channeling.

      The IMS precision shower screen is made to precise specs and includes more holes. It allows for a more consistent puck saturation and the likelihood of disturbing the grounds is less.

    Fantastic video thank you! I have recently purchased my fist La Pavoni Pro. I am having a problem to lock in the PF with any basket (with or without coffee) into the group head. It is doable to lock it in but it's extremely tight. With no basket, the PF locks in very smooth. Would it be the wrong basket or loose piston screw under the shower gasket?

    • @BrucePappas
      @BrucePappas  6 років тому

      It could be the wrong size portafilter. LP made a 49mm version for PreMillenniums. Yours should be a 51mm. It could be that some used the wrong size PF gasket, as Millenniums used 2 different versions. It could also be, as you stated, the wrong basket. Or the piston could have come loose. Pull the lever all the way up and see if the PF is still hard to install. I'd put my money on the wrong PF gasket. We have a Facebook support page; come over there and post some pictures. facebook.com/groups/LaPavoniLeverOwners/

      Once again many thanks for your help. I have tested as per suggestion. The portafilter behaves in the exact same way as with the lever being fully lowered. It is very smooth when no basket attached, and with the basket it gives the identical resistance to attach it.

      I'd take a look at the gasket. You might need a hook tool to remove it. Here are the 2 different gaskets:

      Were you referring to the LP grouphead? The grouphead is often called the group. It's the bell-shaped part attached to the boiler that houses the piston and holds the portafilter. The lever attaches to it.
