2006 Suzuki Boulevard Replace Rear Tire

  • Had a bald rear tire on a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50 (805) that needed to be replaced. Removed the rear tire, took the rim and the tire to the shop to get replaced, and then put it back on the bike. This is the first time I've ever done this and it was all new to me. Not having a chain made it a little easier I think. Needed a 22mm socket for the nut and a 17mm socket for the bolt side of the axle.

I know you did this over 6 years ago, but I had to change the tire on mine this weekend. This video was incredibly helpful.

couple of notes to make this easier: 1. no need to remove pipes to access axle bolt. use a 22mm box wrench and remove it.
    2. Dont hammer a threaded nut onto a bolt. thats a really quick way to potentially strip it.
    3. to remove the axle easier, add support under the rear tire before you pull it out. providing enough support will free the axle and it slides right in and out.
all the rest looks good thanks now onto mine!

moto man How would I hammer the threaded nut onto the bolt without stripping it if I don't do it the way he did it in the video? Thanks.

I have a 2002 and I have taken the wheel off many times with the brake and muffler still in place. Maybe I should make a video. I would have removed the brake adjusting nut and pushed the brake peddle to disconnect the brake. Removing the pipes does make for lots of room to work though. The spacer on the brake side and lifting the bike high in the air is the key to getting the wheel off. All in all a good video.

This was very good. Very helpful. I was worried that it was going to be harder on this bike than it was on my S40, but it has almost the same difficulty level. I like the part of taking the pipes because that helped me see how easy it could be to replace the stock ones with something with a nicer sound (although I love the stock sound, who knows, in the future I might want to make some easy and cheap mods) Thank you

I'm putting the wheel & tire back on and can't remember the spot where the washer was for the axle. It looks like at 3:19 that the axle spacer is between the drum brake assembly and the bike frame, while the metal washer is on the opposite side of the frame - is that correct?

Do you need to loosen the axle bolt before you can adjust the brake shoe/case?
My rear brake linkage arm snapped - so I need to replace/adjust it.

Would've been nice to see the actual changing of the tire. Showing how to replac the wheel was helpful. But I thought this was a changing the tire video.

Hey Bryce, thank you for taking the time to put this video out, very helpful. What kind of lift did you use to get bike in the air (since it only had a 5.5" clearance) Be well and stay safe out there. JB

This was helpful inasmuch as I now know my mechanic will have to remove my exhaust (and therefore charge me more). However how did you transfer over the brakes to the new tire? My mechanic is telling me this is an all day, 7 hour job. I know you fast forwarded this but..it didnt seem like 7 hours ha.
