Cultures talking with each other...fascinating.....arabic melodies on a cello.....swinging rhythm on a pipa...and so on..excellent musicians of course! Non profit approach. How can you not love this! Lovely!
Each of them are magnificent, the melody, the instruments.. but the most breathtaking part is when all play together in harmony. I surrender to the melody surrounds me and feels good to be citizen of the World.
For me personally, I get hope and courage from listening and watching this incredible group, the talent and the cultural crossover lets me believe we can do this, we can live like this. People, listen and learn. Sheila SPAIIN
PLEASE COME TO SPAIN. SOON..WE AND EUROPE NEED HEALING, NOT JUST THINKING COVID, THERE'S A NEED FOR CROSS CULTURAL LOVE AND SHARING OF JOY AND TALENT LIKE THIS. I FEEL LIKE YO YO MA IS THE PIED PIPER WITH ALL HIS MUSICIAN FRIENDS AND THE WORLD NEEDS TO LISTEN AND FOLLOW, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. SHEILA COSTA BLANCA
whatnot is exactly rightl To me as a lifelong musician it didn't work well, playing with a variety of instruments that were never meant for each other. Original yes, and that's all.
Those of us who were alive then will not forget the day Yo Yo Ma left that cello in the trunk of a New York cab. The entire police department and the Mayor's office were hunting for one yellow cab among 30,000 (years ago - no central dispatch). They found the driver when he ended his shift, and the cello was peaceful and comfortable still in his trunk. Treasure that cello - it gave half the world a minor heart attack once. Treasure the cellist too - world's best of his time.
Thank you Silk Road Ensemble , Yo Yo Ma & Rabih Abu Khalil! Simply beautiful!!! I discovered Lebanon ( Rabih Abu Khalil's country fourteen years ago and what a country ! A true revelation of East meeting West... You manage to do it Rabih with you Arabian Waltz. Brilliant! Bravo!
brilliant....connecting us all on a soul level...BRAVO! Thank you! Going to see you "again" in Toronto! @ the AKM on 29/6/2017, so much looking forward to!
@piros97 Köszönöm kedves barátom, hogy tudassa velem erről a csodálatos zenét. Ez nagyszerű, hogy tapasztalatokat, látni és hallgatni ezt a videót. Nagyon szép zene és a vibrafon! @silkroadproject ~ It is great to experience, see and listen to this video. Very nice music and vibes! ~ Iskandar 'The Thoughts of Music'
Wonderful!!! Thank you Watched and listened over and over. Is this correct Japanese instrument - shakuhachi; hand drums -Tabla; stringed lute - a pipa? goblet-shaped drum on man's knee is a dumbek, a North African instrument; The multi-pipe mouth organ is a Sheng, Chinese instrument; large drum around the neck is the Janggu, a Korean instrument. Is this the correct name for these instruments? I wish the instrument name would be included in the description above. Difficult to find when I don’t know them. Took a lot of time to fined the names.
No, 7/8 means you count 7 eighth notes. Which basically means you'd count 7 times for one measure. The number of measures, or the number of times you count 7, depends of the composer and what he chooses to write. Plus it's possible the composer might decide to make one measure 7/8, the next 4/4, and the next 5/8, which would mean you'd have to count differently for each measure.
that was Persian traditional music with Persian music instrument like tombak and ney and also iranians were operating silk road businesses for centuries . long live all of the people of the world. peace on the earth.
of course the whole thing isn't. but there are sections within the first two minutes that can be counted with some multiple of seven more comfortably than could be done with a multiple of six
Daniel Laurita throughout, and especially toward the end, the piece is very clearly in three, of course it's not a trad waltz it's a fusion of Jazz, Middle Eastern, and classical techniques to create a true fusion piece).
I agree with you, if I may say so. Bcause they seem to make an, hm, "exotic" music, using Fusion and New Age. Unfortunately, as such instruments together would cause a perfect sensation in a more "complex" composition. Gee, they use shakuhachi instead of nai or something like that!

Yo-Yo Ma is an inspiration for bringing this vision to life. This will surely be appreciated for many generations.

But there is a north and south. :3
Try that philosophy on sea :D
Asteroid Ninja Super-Steel, haha...yes, but he is saying we all have things in common. Too much fighting over stupidity.

Cannot envision anyone doing a waltz to this!! A lot of discordant sounds typical of easter music.
