Heck that is what the blues use to be about back in the day, about life! Somewhere along the lines we lost connection with actual reality in music.

2024 and still listening to Deemi and this song like it was released yesterday ❤ Her music helped me get through some very TOUGH times as a teen/young woman. It was unbelievable for me when I discovered her, being able to listen to music with a voice & specific storytelling I could really relate to. It was like "I can't believe someone is singing exactly what I'm going through!" and really like having this big sister you never had. I'm so grateful for her cause her music helped me a great deal during difficult times and grimey situations 💗

Shoutout to Deemi! I was a counselor at her kids’ summer camp in Bed Stuy. I had her daughter in my group & my homie had her son? Or the other way around lol. Either way you put it, she had to come see both of us to sign her kids out at the end of the camp day. She told us both to mess wit her new single when it dropped. Next weekend. Sure enough it came out the following weekend & I’ve been selling everybody I crossed paths with to listen to and download it 😭 She was mad cool & her kids were cool too so it made everything that much better. Easy to stand behind somebody when you see who they really are and what they stand for.

For real, what happened to Deemi? Like for real??? Over the years I always look around for her. There is a twitter account, but I need receipts to know its her. This song will always be one of my favs. Her personal story was always so inspiring. I knew she was going to take off.

I graduated high school on June 5, 2006 and that was the first time i saw this video, I loved the song so much i went to joe records to see if here album was available but it wasn't, but he found me the single and ordered it for me, I waited and waited for the album all the way into 2007 but it was never released. I hope one day we get the album, I bet this is one of the greatest albums never heard.
Listening to this in 2020! Demi was highly anticipated and the record label shelved her.
I never understood why that crummy record label didn't release her album cause I've gone to SOOO many different record stores as well as online trying to find it to no avail. I wonder will this album EVER be released cause THIS right here is music and I'll EASILY take her over Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Tamar Braxton, and Miguel ANY DAY !!!!
It was only released in Japan under the title 'Dying To Get Rich' in very limited quantities. It's super hard to find but I may have found a copy :-)
