As a die-hard Satan (Vikings) fan, I knew Kirk wouldn't work out in Atlanta. Everyone kept saying Falcons are gonna easily win the division but I knew riding on that Kirk train for years that it wouldn't happen and now he we are. I called it.
Difference is, the Falcons have a new HC and Kirk coming off a tough injury. When Kirk went to Minnesota the Zimmer defense got figured out and the Vikes were winning via offense not defense.
Idk if kirk ever starts again for us, but this was the right move. Kirk killed our momentum in the south and took us from 6-3 to 7-7. The deadcap hit is irrelevant to me, not my money he took. I'd rather watch a rookie make rookie mistakes than watch a 13 year vet make rookie mistakes. Penix is our future and the right move. #RideThePenix
Feel bad for melr kirk. He still wants to ball, and got paid thinking he would be able to replicate his last season b4 hos acl injury. But kirk body gave out on him, he has lost a step. Good for him getting another team to pay him a lot. Good for vikings on staying firm and moving on to sam
Idk what's happened to Kirk cousins. He's played phenomenally in the beginning of the season. The first what? 8 games. Kirk even threw for 500+ yards in one game. I don't think he's ever done that before.
It was always gonna be a 2 year deal for Kirk in ATL, they just had to make it 4 years to sign him. The scenario happing now was planned for but not expected till next year.
its so weird seeing this happen to cousins when he seemed so good earlier this year, seems like just a couple months ago dude joined the 500 club and everyone was high on the falcons. not saying its undeserved, just a weird trajectory.
Honestly, remove the fan/supporter emotional narrative and just focus on the business of the game, whatever these players can negotiate for themselves is just how this business works. It really doesn’t need to matter to supporters. It’s distracting from the game itself and dilutes the fan experience. On top of it all, fans aren’t privy to the inner workings of team business only the outcome. It really doesn’t matter or shouldn’t. The money is there to ask for why not ask for it? Why is professional sports so much different than any other business?
Cousins has never played well when he's the incumbent and has any legitimate competition on the roster. His ego is just too fragile. The Vikings always had total schlubs as backups his whole time there. I'm so glad we let him walk and didn't guarantee 100 million dollars to him
Makes Hendon Hooker the last remaining QB from the class to get real playing time..with the dearth of quality QBs do you suppose Brad Holmes has offered him straight up to CLE for Myles Garrett? #GoLions
SOME Falcons fans rejoice, not all Mr. Grossi. I, for one, don't like the move to bench Kirk. I don't think Penix is ready and I think Kirk can work past whatever issues he's dealing with. That being said, I hope for the best.
I figured there was no way you take out Cousins right now. You're 1 game out of 1st in the South with 3 to play. How do you bench him for a rookie? My only guess is that they've accepted that they're not winning anything with Cousins, so why get a worse draft pick for the privilege.
As a Vikings fan, I couldn't be more pleased with Kirk's performance. Kirk has sucked and still sucks. Now he just doesn't have anyone else to point fingers at😂
Cousins is as he always was, mediocre. He is the Tony Romo of his generation. He could put up a lot of stats numbers but could never generate wins when you actually needed one.
to be fair to him though he's random qb from michigan state drafted in the fourth round. his career has been insane for that level of expectation. he was so good relative to what anyone thought, that he became overrated. that's a pretty high honor in itself.
@@cellamuertOnce you start playing at a consistent level for a few seasons and your ceiling is known, your draft position goes out the window imo. Especially considering he’s had two teams that chose to sign him, not drafted him, since then. Compared to other quarterbacks, he’s not a playoff winner which is sus when the Falcons decided to pay him $40m/yr for 4 years
"I bet Penix has no problem finding the tight end when it matters most."
Because of his bigness he prefers wide receivers.
He’s also partial to tailbacks and the occasional fullback.
Lol hilarious comment! wish I could like more then once hahah
"Everybody in the State of Georgia, today, is feeling the insertion of Michael Penix."
They did it nice and slow, so now all of Atlanta will be satisfied by the Big Black Penix
For the penix pick to be good the cousins signing had to be dumb and vice versa. Falcons are playing to not lose instead of playing to win
Exactly, no matter what one of the two moves is a mistake.
I've been waiting for Tom to do a Falcons fan reaction to Cousins getting benched.
I was hoping for it, hes probably not doing it sadly

Penix is coming.
Everyone in Seattle is excited too! It's always great to have a UW quarter back
10:00 no mf'er we aren't colts'ing it in pittsburgh. i'll absolutely riot

Why am I not surprised at the thumbnail of this?
I salute you, you magnificent bastards.

we'll never forget you curt
It's Georgia. If you have Cousins, a Penix is going to show up at some point.
I’m on penix envy
love u boys
I was hoping the Falcons would announce that Penix would be starting only the first quarter, then it would be TBD based on performance.
The Falcons wanna harden Penix up a little so he's ready to go next season
It was always gonna be a 2 year deal for Kirk in ATL, they just had to make it 4 years to sign him. The scenario happing now was planned for but not expected till next year.
Saw it coming with Cousins. Never was a fan of Cousins at big money.

How many holes could the Falcons have plugged with that cap they're paying to Cousins?
I'd have gone with "Insert Penix here"
Looking at Atlantas O-line "I teally shouldnt put my Penix in there, but"
Just don't put the Penix IN your Cousins
I would have been disappointed if they started the segment without double entendres.
So they're just gonna shove Penix in there, let's hope he's UP to the task!
How long before Penix is forced to pull out?

Grossi & Perna, you know damn well…what to do…..you play Cousins vs the Bucs exclusively…next year
And let Penix kick ass in the other 15 games…..record this for posterity…!
Lost his confidence...? Nah ... He lost his Justin Jefferson
Darnold did nuttn until he had a Jefferson
I said Penix was the best QB in the draft and now we all get to see how wrong I was.

You get rid of him, like any team that has been duped by his padded stats and his agent.
As a Vikings fan, I couldn't be more pleased with Kirk's performance. Kirk has sucked and still sucks. Now he just doesn't have anyone else to point fingers at😂
Kirk being paid 62 mill this year is a joke.
He’s never been top 10
Put him on IR and then when the new NFL fiscal year starts put him on trade block. Oh I forgot, START MICHAEL PENIX FOR CHRISSAKE
Penix will be a disaster for 2 seasons. This is a stupid idea.
being a vikings fan...he is an over rated .500 quarterback...an old .500 quarterback later qwerk

Romo was an undrafted walk on for the cowboys, i think that's more impressive @@cellamuert
@@PeleJenkins sure. i think romo gets pretty unfairly discussed, too. relative to expectations.

Who cares what they do with his old overpaid ass!! Good riddance to old rubbish!!
Penix insertion will screw the Falcons.
