    About Spectre Sound Studios:
I'm Glenn Fricker, engineer here at Spectre Sound Studios. I love making records, and after doing it for sixteen years, I want to pass on what I've learned. On my channel you can find tutorials on how to record guitar, bass, real drums and vocals. There's reviews and demos of tube amps, amp sims, drums, mics, preamps, outboard gear, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, and plugin effects.
We've covered Moon on the Water, played Bias FX, given you the absolute best in Stupid Musician Texts, ranted & raved about bass guitar, and this channel is where The Eagle has Landed.
Everything you've wanted to learn about recording Hard Rock & Heavy Metal can be found right here on this channel!
I also respond to your comments & questions: The best make it into the SMG Viewer's Comments series of videos. Loads of fun, lots of laughs.
Thanks for checking out my channel & please subscribe!

Well, thanx a lot Glenn and everyone for all the comments. We also have other free sims out there! Our software models our physical amplifiers, so yes, the Emissary is also available as a full tube head.

Hi ignite, just wondering if you are planning on updating Emissary like you did with NRR and The anvil? Not that there is anything wrong with it as is, just curious if that was getting an update with your new modelling DSP. Great amp sims by the way!

I would want that guitar tone on an album. You could lie and tell me it was a $1500 amp head and a $1000 cab and I would believe you from hearing it in the mix. Unrelated: That drum sound was badass.

You mentioned Emissary in a prior video and that's why I decided to try it. I have to thank you for that, as it is the best free plugin I've tried and honestly, I think it's better than nearly all of the paid plugin amp sims I've tried. I'd only put Reaxis ahead and the Mark IV sim in Helix Native equal to Emissary for metal tones.

I have used the IRs in Reaper using BIAS Amp, Two-Notes wall of sound, and Pulse. No matter what amp sim I use in those plugins the IRs pair up very well. In particular I LOVE the blended 57-Hewitt in the Eagle Has Landed swath. The whole Revv swath is magical.

YES!! You finally covered my favorite VST maker and possibly their best amp of the several they make. Good shit! I'd also recommend checking out Anvil (3 channel tube preamp) and TPA (tube power amp) from them too, Anvil is very nice for lead tones I've found, and blends nicely with Emissary's tonality. Ignite is amazing quality, and all of it being free is ridiculous. Good shit!

Just bought some used recording gear for a hell of a low price (USB interface and a pair of studio monitors). I am very excited to finally be able to try out the things you teach and preach in your videos as I have been watching your channel for many years now. I am a guitar player and will mostly be recording guitar using plug ins, although I have a tube distortion pedal that eventually I would like to try into the interface with some IRs.
Thank you for your videos and sharing your knowledge.

I also purchased the jst Jason Richardson plug in and I actually prefer the free emissary plug in over the one I spent $80 on. Ive heard other people get fantastic tone from the Jason Richardson but I just can’t dial it in for my taste. Another good free amp sim is the lepou 456. Incase anyone is looking for a similar option. Great video Glenn, I always get useful content from this channel. 👍

Glenn, I would really like you to make a video on mixing fast tremolo picking. This type of tone works well for slow chunky guitar but probably not so well for super fast tremolo picking riffs.

Yeah the Emissary is incredible. That and the Kazrog Thermionik-Suite for just 50$ and you're good. I also love Ignites free SHB-1 for bass tones.

On a whim, I decided to download the software and give this a try (with different IRs) . In less than a half hour I've got great sounding guitars . I've spent probably 200 hours and 300 dollars on Bias Amp/Fx and never even came close to how good this sounds... for 0 dollars and a 1/2 hour of my time. Hopefully I'll find a use for my Bias stuff beyond a cautionary tale lol.

Emissary stays in my arsenal specifically for monitoring guitar DI during tracking. Definitely my favorite amp sim and being free makes it a no brainer.

These guitars are seriously brutal. I've never had a problem with your guitar tones, but this is just beyond! Death metal usable, no question about it.
