Yep. The R-1s (R-2 was the truck/motor package for R-1), R-4s (R-5 was the truck/motor package for R-4), R-6 (variants), R-7/As and R-9s would be retired and replaced in 1977 by the then-brand new R46s.

i read it somewhere, think it was one of these: - crime so they made shorter trains so people could be more compact - lower ridership so not worth it - not enough cars in operating condition for full trains
