- Edward Taylor plays the first of two sets of three pieces inspired by verses from the Psalms of David. This piece focuses on Psalm 34 v.6
'Lo, the poor crieth, and the LORD heareth him; * yea, and saveth him out of all his troubles'.
Performed on the organ of Carlisle Cathedral
Bravo!
What this guy \/ said. And always to tears. And kicked in the 32' at the end.
great interpretation and perfectly in keeping with the Howells style. Great to see the visual spectacle of managing the registration, which is the most tricky with howells the notes of the registration:)
Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed it
A piece that never fails to move me, especially when played as well as this.
Very nice Edward....one of my favourite Psalm Preludes by Howells alongside No.3 from his 2nd set.
thank you, mine too!
One of my favourites too!
A fine piece by a great composer, beautifully played. Thank you
Many thanks!
Beautiful performance, with a large and open phrasing perfect for this "romantic" composition: Howells typical modal feeling along with reminiscences of Elgar's music.
many thanks
Beautifully played. Regarding the organ why is it off-center'' in the Cathedral'. Obviously the arch is also off-center, but to me , having studied design etc. it looks wrong.
