- Have you ever wondered what goes through a sailors mind before, during and after a race?
"Revvin' up your engine, Listen to her howlin' roar"
It's been a long time since the Hobie Family hit the fabled waters of Botany Bay, Sydney. But for the 2023 New South Wales Hobie 16 State Championships, the fleet ventured to Kurnell Catamaran Club for their annual top Gun Regatta, open to all classes of off the beach catamaran. Finishing third overall and taking out the Grand Masters Title, the mad Hobie scientist and craftsman of two decades, Mick Butler, raced with up 'n' coming super crew Hazel Raftery in their first State Championship as a team. The Jervis Bay locals tossled with world champions Cam & Suzzi, along with Victorian hot shots, Fletcher & Georgia, for overall title.
What are the deciding factors that influence a sailor's decision making? What's their approach to the starting sequence? And how long should one stay out on wire going around the top-mark?
Now for the first time EVER, Totally Immersed TV is taking you onto the boat with the sailor(s), where you get to experience their every move during the race. Experience Hobie Sailing at its best from the perspective of Australia's greatest catamaran sailor(s).
From the 2023 Australian Hobie 14 Champion Bryn Robinson-Mills, to his training partners Paddy Butler & Will McKenzie, along with multiple World Champion Rod Waterhouse and Olympic Silver Medallist, Darren Bundock. Experience the Championship Tour from the greatest Hobie 14 and Hobie 16 Sailors the world has to offer.

Good stuff. Really interesting to see them working the traveller in the gusts and leaving the main sheeted hard on. I've heard about this technique but i find it super hard when sailing, there's always so much weight in the traveller.
I raced through the '80s and early '90s. Wish I had some video record of those days. The only one I have is this one: ua-cam.com/video/tlGiHmvJOxY/v-deo.html
Unreal video, mate! Thanks for sharing it with us!
