I was listening in the background as I was working on carb & it sounded like the Dude was teaching me about carburators. It's good to see the Big Lebowski got a job as a wrench after his rug mishap. Say hi to Walter for me man. Thx for the info on video good job
Vent lines to maintain atmosphere pressure in the float chamber. The line on bottom of the bowl is for the over-flow tube to avoid flooding the engine if the inlet valve would stick.
Bro you are winging it. Mike Turskey just corrected you on several important points. You are a terrible presenter and your content is weak and mostly incorrect. It’s unfair to lecture people on technical subjects when you have no idea of what you are talking about. Your UA-cam followers are are none the wiser and think that you actually know your subject. That’s why you think you are a good teacher. Get a second and third opinion on your delivery and content a from a professional technical teachers and tell me I’ve got it all wrong.
You obviously care about teaching and professionalism. I salute you sir. I sincerely hope my comment helps you raise the bar so that you can reach your goals.. OK-my critique as follows… This presentation was meant to be a lecture on vacuum lines in carbs. That subject was not even touched upon. Instead we got a ramble on what a vent line does. If you prepared your presentation before delivering it, you would be doing us all a favour. Preparation + opportunity=success…therefore opportunity without preparation = failure
You Sir, obviously care about what you get for the money. Since the Cost is O.00$ American Dollars to watch this Free Video, I assume you did not get your moneys worth? Lets do some math, shall we.? Hi thank for this a value video I really learned a lot. I wish you make a video adjusting the air screw&idle screw on a live motorcycle so we can hear the best idle and recognize the sweet spot. thanks a good teacher
i was havng this problem with my dirtbike just the other day. take your carb apart and that needle/valve he was tlking about probably has some dirt in it. take your carb apart and throughly clean it out. should solve your problem. also check your float shake it if you hear liquid inside then your float isnt floating its sinking causing the valve to stick open.
In my polaris scrambler 500 mikuni carburetor, i have the main fuel line. And Two very tinny lines, one from the bottom of the carburetor and one on the top. Where do l connect those two lines to.? And why the bottom one is leaking gas.?
Each carb manufacture is set up a little different. The bottom line, under the fuel bowl, could be a Fuel Bowl emptying line. Old carbs all had one, new ones not so much. A top line is a Vacuum line that lets air in the fuel bowl to displace the fuel that coming in. In my Playlists , I have very Recently Catalogued all my videos on this Subject- Check them out !! thank you.... All Free!!!
hi again now i i changed jet from 90 to 86 and at 90 i couldent give full gass but now on 86 i cant bearly give any gass while driving but in netural i can rev it high
I bought it as Sears and it is Annoying. The magnets are so strong that I will look for a lost nut or bolt and find it magnetized to the bottom of the tray after looking for it for two hours!!!
looked up this vid cuz i got a bike off someone for free and the vacuum lines that are supposed to be there arnt. guess its off to another vid cuz i learned everything i already knew about the valves and bowl but no lines
I have a Yamaha mx100 and gas fills the carb but wont go from the bowl into the top of the carb and the engine. I have cleaned it twice so the jets are not plugged. And I get good pressure (130psi), and I have a new piston and rings in there. Only thing I dont have set up, is a vacuum line on the side of the carb that actually gets clipped in and hangs down from what I see on the internet. Could that be my problem? The vacuum jets are not plugged but would having a hose up to them make that much of a difference that it would actually stop gas from getting drawn into the carb and into the engine??
Yes it is. it is a great book to understand 2 stroke general theory and advanced calculous of port timing , fuel flows, combustion and all aspects of two stroke motorcycles.
Marcel Franz Remove and clean the tank, remove and clean the carb, replace carb gas line and put an after market filter between the gas tank and carb. This is a common problem with old engines that have sat for a long time.
+Megan Hoffpauir You can plug any hose in any bike using forceps, hose clamps, jubilee clamps, duct tape, staples, two boards clamped together, magnets, bubble gum or my favorite= High Explosives .....
Please help ME. My scooter keaps leaking fuel from the thing that you are takling about at 7:43. Even when when idling it leaks. I don't know how to make it stop. Also cloud you tell me how to stop the tire from spinning when idling. I am new to scooter carbs, especially 2 stoke scooters, so i don't know how to tune them very well.
Hey man this is UA-cam and is known for a jackass or two, but keep up the good work and ignore the trolls. plenty of people find this very informative!
come on spit it out bro get to the point chingado you never said you were going to talk about the floats vacuum lines bro remember just for get about it
well that's ten minutes of my life I'll never get back......try writing a script and cut down the run time. You seem to know your stuff, but the delivery needs some work.
Came here to learn about vacuum lines on a carbed fuel system, don't seem any vacuum lines... Breathers, floats and pins, but no vacuum lines :/

Makes me hold my breath when he is trying to say something.
Isn't there a line running from the carb to the crankcase breather? Is that a thing or am I misinformed?
Very helpful, don't listen to the haters
Great tip 👍

@slyyyy1 START WITH A BIG JET AND MOVE YOUR NEEDLE VALVE UP OR DOWN A NOTCH OR TWO...

Glad to have helped. Randy H, DSD
I think you just like to hear yourself talk.
You were not that good then, and your not any better now....
says volume cannot be changed while working on a compression engine carb....
I noticed the AG bell book on the bench.
Would this be 'performance tuning in theory & practice' ..?
Yes it is. it is a great book to understand 2 stroke general theory and advanced calculous of port timing , fuel flows, combustion and all aspects of two stroke motorcycles.
Get to the bloody point!
Jason B ahhhhhhhhhhhh i know
how do you no what nipple on your carb is for the vacum ? just bought a mikuni vm26 5 series and im trying to find out what 1 is vacum
two stroke motor kit carbs dont have vents
wow 6 minutes to explain how the float bowl works...
I bought a 2011 Kymco Super 8 50cc two-stroke moped it doesn't have any of the vacuum lines on it how can I find out where they go
Get a repair manual for your model or see if their is a download manual availabale, R
Y does my 2 stroke backfire when I try to start it up
Sounds like your electronic timing is off or sothing to do with the electrical.
Bought a 1984 polaris atv. I emptied the gas tank and it smells like varnish. Should I remove the gas tank and clean it?
Marcel Franz Remove and clean the tank, remove and clean the carb, replace carb gas line and put an after market filter between the gas tank and carb. This is a common problem with old engines that have sat for a long time.
you know what kind of metal is the bowl of the carburator?
Lazaros Bull cast aluminium
@palitrochefucker Thanks, and check out the rest of my 1450 videos, many on motorcycle tips and repairs. RH DSD.
The Big Lebowski!
THEY'RE NOT "VACUUM LINES". THEY'RE *BREATHERS*
They are rubber suction tranducer air vent lines...
Does anyone know if you can plug all vacuum hoses on a 06 Suzuki gs500
