  • The kidneys take in blood and filter it with the power of a million nephrons. The main idea is that polar solutes can be excreted easily, because urine is water. Things that are bound to proteins cannot be excreted easily. These tend to be hydrophobic compounds. Things that are really big like proteins also cannot be filtered into the lumen. Watch this video to walk through a pharmacokinetic problem that works through renal dose adjustments.
