Why ET is used in diphteria and Tetanus??

In diphtheria, severe upper airway obstruction occur due to membrane formation which can lead to respiratory failure so nasotracheal intubation should be considered
In tetanus, laryngospasm can cause respiratory failure so intubation should be done
