Another lie actors tell to get roles is their ability to operate various modes of transport. "I can drive like a stuntman","I can ride a horse as good as Derby winners" and "I can fly a plane better than Sully". No you can't, no you can't and no you can't.
Another fib told for a movie part here or there, "I can do my own stunts." No you can't.
More specific example: Claudia Christian refused to do nudity after agreeing to play a stripper, nudity and all: The Hidden (1987). Infamously difficult actress Claudia Christian, well known for being about as easy to work with as Bruce Willis, was on the set of Jack Shoulder's follow-up to Nightmare on Elm St 2 with the 1987 action comedy horror movie The Hidden, starring Kyle McLaughlin, Michael Nouri and a certain actress. On the day of her shooting her STRIPTEASE act in the movie, she outright refused, grinding the production to a halt. (Btw, she also filled her bra on two different occasions, implying her breasts were much bigger than they were and lied about stripping ability. She was sent to Janet Jackson's choreographer for dance lessons; he called her "unteachable".) The money g-strimg was a compromise to getting what they needed from the notorious actress.

It's not a movie, but my favorite audition story is when Hugh Laurie tried out for the show House MD. David somebody, (I think he was the Director or Producer) had said he didn't want somebody with an accent playing the role. He watched Hugh's audition and said something along the lines of "Now that's what we need, a typical American actor." It would seem he was unaware of Hugh's large body of work, and the fact that he's BRITISH and was quite famous in the UK. He also has a lovely heavy British accent, but managed to adopt an American one for the audition. He got the part. 💙

He had never rode a horse, and until then, he hadn't even been around a real horse. He got a few lessons at a stable in LA, which was fine. And then there’s the directors and producers:
    - Michael Bay: “Megan Fox? Yeah, I hired her because of her acting skills”
    - Katherine Kennedy: “I love Star Wars”
    - All the post-End Game Marvel producers: “I know what I’m doing”
    - Roman Polanski: “It’s fine, she’s like 20”
    - Marlon Brandon and the director of Last Tango in Paris: “This won’t hurt”
    - Harvey Weinstein: “Yeah, no, just a cup of coffee. Come on up”

Tom Cruise surprised me twice on Olympics: first is that he rode the bike himself, doing the one thing Jackie Chan used a stint double for. The other is making Simone Biles look average height, I knew he's nowhere near 170cm Tom is billed at, but I expected 160 not being close to 140-something gymnast WHILE WEARING LIFTS!

It’s LAY-zenby, dammit. Not a single WhatCulture video can get by without using the word “titular” and/or mispronouncing a performer’s name! Are there no rehearsals or any research done for these?

What’s with the poor pronunciations of some of the names I’m not impressed.

Reminds me of when John Lennon was asked of Ringo Starr," is he the best drummer in the world"?
And John answered" nah, ----- he's not even the best drummer in the Beatles ".😅

Twilight was hot garbage from the beginning of the books to movies ending. No one in those movies had a chance to be anything other than cardboard or stilted. Especially Bella 'the godawful Authors personal self insert' Swan.

Eh, Bella in Twilight is supposed to be blank self-insert protagonist, it's basically like those visual novels or dating games for guys just with genders swapped. An Otome movie.

I totally disagree about things based on lies failing. How many religions are there? We'll assume that at least one of them got it right. That means all the others are based on bullshit but there's still a lot of people who follow them.

Here's the thing: Acting IS lying. If you can convincingly lie about your accent or height or whatever in auditions and land the role...the director really doesn't have much ground to complain. The drumming and volleyball are a bit different, because the director is trusting you on that.
