Nutshells Vblog Viking suggests a space of at least 1.5" between your pipes and the saddle bags, that's why I recommend using a 2x4 wrapped in a towel on top of the pipes and sit the bag on the 2x4 that way there is a space of about 2" between the bag and pipes Also I put saddle bags on my Yamaha Raider S and I used a universal quick disconnect bracket but the bolts are pulling through the bag so I would also suggest using a thin metal strip about 3"x3" or 4"x4" with a hole drilled in it on the inside to add a larger area so the washer does pull through the bags
This way super super helpful. Especially the heads up on the different hardware. I’m going to attempt this install on my own. I’m not handy when it comes to stuff like this but my dealership wanted a ridiculous amount of money to install them for me. So I’m going to try to do this myself😳🏍️
Hey man, I really appreciate how in depth you went with this video. I wanted to get these bags for a while, but the instructions on the website were really unclear. In the Honda Rebel Facebook group, people kept warning about all the issues while installing too, and I got intimidated to get myself a pair. You made it look easier than it seemed and answered all my questions. Viking should have this on their UA-cam channel for real. Thank you so much, your ride looks sweet! 👏 P.s you look like Bon Jovi.
lol not bon jovi - glad the vid helped, the bags have been great - use them every day , something I should have gotten right after I got the bike. I've had no issues with these since.
Very informative video. I have a Rebel 500 and I'm contemplating Viking saddlebags. I have a sissy bar attached to the fender bolts but it seems like it can be all incorporated together.
Nice Michael! I’ve been thinking about getting saddle bags for my bike as well! Just don’t know if I want to really get Vikings or not… I’m also shocked that it didn’t come with pre-drilled custom holes for the Rebel😩 thank you for all the great information about it! Loved the video!👏
no- it was because of the receiving nut that is on the Rebel fender - the one they sent would not work - so it needed the other sized one (the one shown in the video)
I have the exact same large Viking bag on a 2017 rebel 500, and yes you can fit one gallon of milk in one bag and a small bag of chips, fits like a glove
I havent had any that I am aware of - I put my laptop on the other side - clothes and etc on the exhaust side - I havent experienced any issues - I ride every day to/from work - temps outside can get to 114F - yes 114F ! so I am sure it gets really hot down there.
@@NutshellsVLog thank you! I am about to install some myself this weekend and was wondering if i had to do anything about the exhaust . thanks again looks great

Thank you for showing off how to install our Honda Rebel 300 saddlebags.
Was very helpful. Made installation of mine easier. Thanks!

I would think so.... You might need some longer bolts but all in all it would probably work out for you.
Good looking saddlebags and excellent installation tips.
Thanks John, they've been good bags for me...
Great video. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make it!

Thanks for the comments :)
Great video, Why would you needed the 80mm was the 70 too short? Thanks!

You mentioned that the bags are medium but the Viking site only has large listed. Wondering if you misspoke or Viking changed things up ? Thanks !
I must have mispoke - I did get these : Honda Rebel 300 Warrior Shock Cutout Large Motorcycle Saddlebags
@@NutshellsVLog thanks! Great video and easy to follow :)
@@CruiserTherapy Thanks mate - hope it helps!
If they're made specifically for each type of bike. The fact they're not predrilled, I don't understand.
Nice video brother, Im curious 🤔 What passenger foot rest you got on your Rebel ?
It's not a foot rest, it is a frame slider. If I recall I got it from T-Rex racing.
@@NutshellsVLog Thanks
Can you fit a gallon of milk in there?
I haven't tried , but I think so, if single one gallon jug is two big, you could get 2 half gallons I'm sure (in one bag) ... They do hold a bit
I have the exact same large Viking bag on a 2017 rebel 500, and yes you can fit one gallon of milk in one bag and a small bag of chips, fits like a glove
what brand and model is your rear rack ?
here you go link below - to be honest - I think I would prefer to get a Seat or a flat rack.... smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BJ3MPXS
any problems from the exhaust? heat issues etc?
