You did all this with only an hour of daylight? Sir, you are the man!! It took me almost 3 days to replace mines. And I took of way more than you lol so happy I found your video!!
Omg finally a DIYer who gets it excellent vid I've been trying to find out where this green wire goes for weeks..now I can get this woop woop woop woop noise to stop....power straring pressure switch LOVE ya man keep up the good vids😊
Thank you for the video, I just did the same job, same car and couldn't have done it with out this video. It was a nightmare job because the manufacturer put the pump and screws in very difficult places to reach. Thanks for the zip-tie idea too! (the hardest part of the job is lining up the new pump and getting the screws into the threads)
Bro I just did it, 4 hours 😢 thank you!!!!! You are fantastic, i dont know if you do this on a daily but amazing video and very descriptive of everything you are doing.
Thanks a million for taking the time to make this video, no way in the world I could have made this repair without instruction. Any vids on changing the tss and oss in the trans because I think that’s next to go, lol
Really good video , thank you I got a 07 Lincoln MKX looks like a lot of work but that's what I'm gonna be doing this weekend, once again thanks for the video.
Thats a very good question. On parts like these I like to have a good visual understanding of the lines etc. For instance the high pressure line , which is the metal line that bolts down is the most likely culprit. The rubber hose line is the fill line and not under pressure. The rubber hose could be remedied by putting a hose clamp the screw down type. The high pressure line would need replaced . Now I have heard of the high pressure leaking I do not see how really because the bolt uses copper washers to fasten it and they are usually pretty reliable . So i guess the line itself could be leaking . I would more suspect the pump seal itself and would try to inspect from the fender well and also using a phone recorder etc from the top to inspect it without removing it. Most of the time the rack and pinion is leaking , but anwhere on the hoses linking the pump the cooler and the rack can be a leak . In this particular case the pump had failed due to the rack and pinion leaking excessively and burning the pump out. Hope this helps and thank you for watching. Heres a link to the rack and pinion if youd like to check that out . Watch "Replacing Ford Edge power steering rack n pinion 2007-2013" on UA-cam ua-cam.com/video/en2kU3kw1Fk/v-deo.html
I agree with you 💯. Subaru seems to be the only car company that builds cars for the owner to be able to work on it. My 1966 Ford bronco was the only ford easy to work on. The government should have let the American car companies fail instead of using tax dollars to bail them out.
Fantastic video! While it's a straightforward job, it's enough of a PITA that I think I'd rather break out the checkbook and pay someone else to do it.
I would go to your local parts store and get yourself some hose picks. Very cheap maybe 20-40 bucks and I literally can’t believe I ever worked on cars without them
what did you torque the supply line hose bolt to? (i believe it's a 12mm) after doing the water pump job i have a power steering leak that seems to be coming from the bolt area of the supply hose
I only snugged it up , but I would think no more than 35 ft lbs if you can get to it. The main thing is to not overtighten and ruin the bolt. You may try a new washer or even a banjo washer with rubber seals , I have had to go this route on banjo bolts on transmission lines that refused to stop leaking. Hope this helps.
@@s33therfan sorry, i worded that badly. i was referring to the low pressure hose supplying the p/s pump with fluid from the reservoir. turned out my issue was a small o ring on the inside that deteriorated and was sucking air into the pump when it was operating and leaking fluid on the ground when it wasn't. also i couldn't have even dreamed about doing the water pump r&r without your video on it. from the bottom of my heart (and wallet) thank you for all your guidance
This video is awesome. Couldnt have done this without you. Have a problem though. I watched closely on how to hook up geounds and checked them but, my car is NOT equipped with autostart. But when i hooked everything up then put on neg cable the light's quickly flashed and the vehicle turned on with no key in column! Runs ten seconds and turns off, waits ten secomds and then runs for amother 10 secs. If you put a key in or hit brake, it shuts off. So confused. But you cant start it with key.
@s33therfan I had a hard to steer issue going on in my flex, I was 🤏close to starting to take out the pump but decided to check the steering shaft. The u-joint in the shaft had seized up in one direction, luckily I was able to free it up. Lol, this was a little easier than dealing with the pump.
The bolt on the top left of mine is slightly rounded. Enough to where I can't get a socket to catch and hold. My last ditch effort is get a 10mm wrench, which seems to missing from my set, and attempt to do it that way. Any tricks you can offer so I don't have to take the engine out to cut the bolt off?
I can't remember if there is room , but I am thinking a hammer and narrow chisel/center punch. Hit it on the outer edge trying to make it rotate. If that fails , I would cut , grind or remove by any means necessary the bolt head. Depending on my mood I might take the pump apart in pieces. I will say this , any time it actually mattered for me the rounded head sockets let me down. Anyways this kind of stuff happens with bolts being overly tight, all you can do is clear room to work if possible. I have cut off bolt heads with limited room and a hack saw blade itself. Was not fun. Wish I could be more help and thanks for your feedback.
@@s33therfan Actually got it off that day. Bought a 10mm wrench, since it was the only one missing from the set, and had to bend it at a 45° angle so I could turn it once I got it on the bolt. Now I'm having issues with my engine. I've got the car back together, but it won't start without sputtering out and dying.
What really bothers me is this designed power steering pump doesn't have a tension adjustment bolt where we don't know if this is tight or not that's where i noticed that on my ford edge engine that is definitely different. Otherwise thanks for the video on this new pump installation.
I'm working on the water pump on a 2010 Ford edge and I'm still pulling parts off that thing is a pain in the ass you got to pull the timing chain cover just to get to the damn water pump
For your cars pump they do not sell them with the pulley . I am not sure why unless there is an installation issue. However you can purchase a low miled used pump off of ebay , which is what I do anymore. But it is up to you on how you want to do. Hope this helps and thank you for watching.
I couldn’t find anything on the 2008 Ford Fusion 3.0 either. I’m going to be doing one on my grandmothers car today. And this is the same exact method? How long did it take you?
Nice video, but you make it look easier than what it is. Its seems that my water pump decided to expload, and the power steering pump just so happens to be bolted to the timing cover, go figure.
If its hard to steer and not low on fluid its going to be your pump. There could also be some secondary issues leaks etc that caused it to fail or it could have just failed. The rack and pinion is bad to leak inside the boots and you can't tell unless pulling one off. There could be a leak on a line. If no leaks then replacing the pump should fix the issue . Thanks for watching
Actually it is one of the worst I have encountered. I really hope someone else can chime in . I would just be guessing at couple hundred labor maybe, if its dealer it will be way way more. Thanks for watching.
No, it's not the worst power steering pump repair. On an 06 Altima 3.5 the pump is chain driven by the timing chain. That engine is so tight against the fender that you have to do it with a remote camera.

You had a lot more room than my 2011 to get the pump out. Thanks for the help, couldn't have done it without you.
Was your 2011 the same? I'm trying to do mine but appears to be different
2011 is a little different. The high pressure line in at the bottom instead of the top
I need to remove the timing cover. Do you know if it is just the one power steering pump bolt attached to the cover?

Quick question if you can answer it so both of copper washers go in between the pressure line
The pressure line is sandwiched between the copper washers . But yes they both need to be installed . Thank you for the feedback.
Beat engine design even seen😂❤
Thank you for watching.
Are we sure this only works up to a 2012? I thought first gen went up to 2013 or 14?

No, it's not the worst power steering pump repair. On an 06 Altima 3.5 the pump is chain driven by the timing chain. That engine is so tight against the fender that you have to do it with a remote camera.
How many hours it took
