The devs have described Zorah Magdaros as being the largest monster thus far. Even though it isn't as long as the likes of Dalamandur, the sheer bulk of the thing outweighs its fellow giants.
as arekz said, depend on how you describe what largest is, for me, it's from their volume and mass, which definitely made zorah magdaros first place imo, while dalamadur and laviente is longer, they're serpent like which means their volume and mass is lesser than zorah
Fun fact: Raviente is one of the guild's worst nightmares, because as a sea serpent, if it ever escaped solitude island and reached the mainland, nothing could stop it from causing immeasurable damage to the ecosystem. They fear this thing like the boogeyman, as in near Fatalis level scared of what he could do. Why else do you think they didn't bother with the 4 hunter rule and let 32 people get sent off to exterminate it for its siege? XD
Depends on the type, you'll be fighting him at the same place and when his dying youll be at the same but there's a volcano meanwhile on the black and mostly powerful you'll be fighting him at what look like a giant ass cave
@@not_fatalis It never left the vicinity of the island for the most part. Berserk is fought in the caves beneath Solitude Island as the big bad among them all.
I'd argue dalamadur is larger than Laviente if we take in account the skeleton in world in the rotten vale, which head seems to be several times larger than the one we fought in 4, thus likely being larger than laviente or at least a similar size.
@@athos9293 true, but the issue with laviente is that its similar to deviljho. it needs to keep eating or will die otherwise. so its unlikely to get much bigger. Dalamadur doesn't seem to have that issue, since snakes in general can live for a long time on a single proper meal.
You’d argue wrong then, if it’s not documented bigger, than it’s not bigger, that’s it, no more headcannon, the only one that makes no sense is Zorah, he should be numero 1.
It didn't make this list but by FAR my favourite giant monster is Gogmazios. i would love to see him return and honestly i think he'd be great in sunbreak. They even already have the Magala skeleton he was based on in Sunbreak and existing giant arena locations. Unfortunately, i doubt we'll see the big tar boi, but i can always dream
5:27: For what it's worth "Laviente" is actually a mistranslation from the MH Wiki, which has a long history of fucking up translations of Frontier's monster names. The correct translation is "Raviente", which is also the name used on private servers. Similarly, Dalamadur is actually bigger than Raviente, as supported by the Dalamadur corpse in the Rotten Vale in Monster Hunter World, whose sheer size allows it to form much of that map's landscape. As a former Frontier player, Raviente was huge- big enough to eat whole islands, but it was never that big
You know those monster hunter monsters u got on this list seem to fit the kaiju section so I can just imagine rajang becoming king rajang and deviljho becoming jhozilla or something like that
The vale dala is a bit of a blurry area since we don't know if their size is just for show to use in the map, or it is a canonical call back to ancient adult dalamadurs. But there is no confirmation the 4U Dala is a juvenile, so until then I still count Raviente as the big G in monster length.
The dalamadur we actually get to fight is basically confirmed to be a juvenile, the 2 in the rotten vale have been calculated to be easily over a mile long( i think someone said roughly 800-900 meters don’t quote me on that), so while we haven’t seen them at full size in the flesh, it’s reasonable to assume that they can grow much larger than the laviente we fight in frontier.
The rotten vale skeleton is an ancestral serpentine elder dragon, not a Dalamadur. It could be an ancestor to both Dala and Lavi, stop bringing up this argument, from what we fought, Lavi is slightly bigger than Dala, no point using ifs and hypothesis. The ones we fight are both juveniles, they can both grow more, no more headcanon, Zorah is the biggest boy, put some respect on his name
dalamadur fans are weird ,u think the lavi that we fight is the "adult" ones? nope ,he still can grow as well 😂 why keep using hypothesis while the actual canon thing is its not bigger than lavi 😂
That one direct look Laviente gave the hunters at the final cutscene... Almost human like. This is most likely a very intelligent monster just like Fatalis
Do keep in mind that the dalmadur we fight is merely a juvenile we have no idea how big an adult would be. Although if you look at the rotten calendar in world you can see a dalmadur skull which suggests it might have played a role in creating the vale.
Definitely not a juvenile, I played MH4U and no one had ever mentioned the Dalamadur being a juvenile, the one in the Rotten veil is just a big individual, snakes are know to keep growing the more they age similar to other reptiles.
No the biggest monster is Dalamadur with no doubt because the one we are fighting in game is not a fully grown boi ; the fully grown Dala skeleton in the rotten vale was several km long That's a Big ass snek 👌
Laviente probably, it has a greater arsenal and is much more aggressive, not to mention having possibly more combat experience as it terrorizes its own island where its species live while Dala sits atop a floaty mountain peak far away from most other life
It really does depend though. Laviente would be larger than the Dalamadur we fight, certainly. But what about the one whose skeleton makes up the Rotten Vale?
@@CrownofMischief we don't know the canon behind them. Could be a whole new type of Dala, a new world variation, a true adult, an ancestor, OR just a map set piece the devs put zero brain cells into the scaling implications of.
@@GKnight3553 in the guidebook this point is actually brought up. Its mentioned that it is a dalamuadur but much larger than any recorded specimen so I wouldn't say it's a brainless set piece but more of an added mystery to just how big some monsters can really get
I wish we got more of these big boys. I started in World and Zorah Magdaros set my expectation that the elder dragons were these huge things that would be a challenge to kill. instead we get normal or large sized monsters that are annoying to kill

We need to see the loa shen lung that the skull on shen gorens back belongs to, seeing one that big would be sick
I love Lao Shan Lung. It was such an epic (if a bit boring) in the first Monster Hunter game. There was just nothing like it until you got to Fatalis.
