Inflation multiplying lines outside of food banks in Toronto

- Long lines outside of food banks in Toronto have been highlighting how hard inflation is hitting people in the city.
For the last year, the Fort York Food Bank has seen a month-over-month increase in people needing help - demand that executive director Julie LeJeune says has been mainly fuelled by inflation.
The Daily Bread Food Bank has also seen demand rise exponentially, and organizers say 2023 is shaping up to be the worst year that food banks across the city have ever experienced before.

worst Federal Government ever
Billions for pet projects but nothing for food banks
guess we just skip meals
Prime Minister takes huge entourage to the coronation in Britain. They stay at the finest hotels and dine on the finest food and beverages all on the taxpayer. And I should donate to a food bank ? I don't think so.
Maybe we are all “ just experiencing it differently” ?
Our government would rather give billions of our taxpayer dollars to Ukraine or Taiwan or Sudan than help out struggling Canadians here at home.
What cant you pull yourself up by your boot straps? Need big daddy government to take care of you?
We can send you next time and keep the dollars, is this a deal?
Hello, Canada government didn’t give Taiwan anything. What are you talking about.
Thank a boomer!
Thanks for your opinion Yuri. Tell Putin to get out of Ukraine.
I wonder if people that experienced the 2008 crash had it easier because this market conditions are driving me to insanity, my portfolio has lost over $27000 this month. alone my profits are tanking and I'm don't see my retirement turning out well when I can't even grow my stagnant reserve.
Even in this whirlwind, there are chances to be had, thus an increase in volatility is not always a bad thing. You have an opportunity to rebalance thanks to volatility. In order to help you diversify your portfolio, you must hire a financial counselor or broker.
I'll suggest you create a diversification strategy because building a good financial-portfolio has been more complex since covid. Recently my colleague advised me to hire an advisor, surprisingly I have accrued over $120K under the guidance of my coach during this crash. She figured out Defensive strategies to protect my portfolio and make profit from this roller coaster market.
@@lucianoboccedi I'm intrigued by your experience. Could you possibly recommend a trustworthy advisor you've consulted with?
@@adenmall7596 It's best you do your due diligence, I have my portfolio overseen by “ELEANOR ANNETTE ECKHAUS” and her qualifications speak for itself. Most likely, the internet is where to find basic info, she has a noticeable page for consulting.
Thanks for the contributions, I just skimmed through ELEANOR ANNETTE ECKHAUS webpage, interesting stuff, wrote her an email.
Disabled, I have been surviving on $475 to $812 per month here in Toronto for the last 20 years, but the idea of using food banks always seemed to be far to extreme for me and my circumstances. Thus I am curious to what the conditions are for those who do use the food banks. I use smarts instead. Recently I purchased roughly $90 worth of food and other goods, and did so at one of Canada's most well known stores. I then went on line to determine how much it would cost if I had shopped at No Frills for the very same items. It totaled up to over $185.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that low wages, high inflation, and housing are the drivers. Fix it.
Stop begging big daddy government to make your boss give you a raise and Unionize. Strike. This is capitalism; you only get what you can win.
Inflation keeps rising but citizens salaries don't catch up with it. Hence overall living standards keep falling. So yeah just raise the interest rates please BoC.
In India, traffic in overwhelming heat is the worst, this isn't fun looking line-ups either
Well it’s maybe it’s time to slow down on the spending Canada.
In 2008 I had a dream that forever changed how I prepare. In the dream I was standing outside the Superstore in a food line waiting to purchase food. In front of me were about 30-40 people standing singularly or side by side in twos. Suddenly a man armed with a shotgun appeared at my side, pointing his shotgun at me and shouting. Immediately, I broke away from the line and zigzagged along the nearby parked cars and ducked to the side of one. He caught up to me and pointed the shotgun at me... I woke up.
Years later Covid happened and while there were food lines in other locations and people lining up for food, etc some things were missing from the equation. Notably, aggressive civilians with weapons. But NOW, I believe I understand what was missing from the equation. I believe that the next significant cause for shortages is conscription, a draft, or one of its synonyms and it will be so bad, or eventually so bad that healthy looking men will be physically accosted to participate in any draft or conscription, or any related synonym.
Location: Canada and I believe I that I know the precise location, a small city I happen to live in now.
It's happening at all food banks. Millions of migrants will only exasperate the difficulty in providing food for those in need.
Justinflation is killing us
Riiiight paying interest on the national debt of some boomer is totally irrelevant , it's all Justin's fault because he can't pay their interest anymore.
But Trudeau says Canadaians have never had it better! 😂
And the legacy of Pierre Elliot Trudeau lives on.
You mean boomers?
Every day we encounter novel challenges that have become the new standard. Although we previously perceived it as a crisis, we now acknowledge it as the new normal and must adapt accordingly. Given the current economic difficulties that the country is experiencing in 2023, how can we enhance our earnings during this period of adjustment?
I cannot let my $680,000 savings vanish after putting in so much effort to accumulate them.
@Sandra Verheylesonne Could you possibly recommend a trustworthy advisor you've consulted with?
I really appreciate this info. His website popped up on the first page immediately I searched him, I read through his resume and it seems very suitable. So, I dropped a message & hopefully he replies soon.
The uncertainties accompanying this present market is more reasons I have my daily investment decisions guided by a portfolio-coach seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time, both employing profit-oriented strategy and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downtrends, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis, it's quite impossible not to outperform. Netted over $1.5m in return on investment, since using a coach for about 2years.
@@GaryWinstonBrown I have good experiences with my Edward Jones stockbroker as has one of my relatives.
You sound so Conservative and Privileged. I cannot let my 680 K savings vanish...🙄
Some expired food is fine for a few months after the date - should be up to the individual if they want it - in the UK they put it on z table and you can take what you want!
If you think liberals care about your well-being, you better think again.
Truth is the share going to labour for the last 40.years has barely moved while productivity and costs have continued up. Like so many things the last three years have only exacerbated what was already there.
I find this strange, Canada is rich in natural resources and has vast amount of agricultural land...
Bad politicians.
@JusticeRealm I remember in the US there was a farmer battling the right to repair policy (against lobbyists and a corrupt council member) and eventually ran for office and won! There's hope if we decide to make changes for a better future.
Also Most of the resource mining companies are owned by foreign companies, as well for real estate properties in major cities throughout Canada.

One possible way to have an economic system without inflation is by implementing a fixed exchange rate system where the value of the currency is tied to a secure commodity such as gold. Another way is by controlling the money supply through strict monetary policies and regulations to prevent excessive growth of the money supply.
Thanks bud for keepin us financially Educated! Regardless of how bad it gets on the economy, I still make over $22,000 every single week.

Hey all you elites- drop some food from your private jets on their way to your tropical vacations.
This kind of Volunteerism and Charity while "well intended", is NOT the Answer. All Three Levels of Govt need to Intervene with Local and National Food Security Programs---ie Food Stamps or Card for those who Qualify based on Income / Need. Obviously this kind of "charitable works" approach cant hold out much longer before it crashes.
Considering how much food I see get thrown in the garbage directly from grocery stores especially Walmart it's insane how much perfectly good food gets wasted just because it doesn't get sold and it expires... Grocery stores like Walmart should be donating far more if they do at all in the first place..
Wal-Mart staff is hella crerpy
Metro is doing it too !!
Thank a liberal/ndp voter.
Ya there coming up to Newmarket food fridge(cleaning it out leaving nothing for anyone else)taking away from Newmarket poor
Thank Trudeau and Singh
I'm in Europe and Canada use to always have a reputation of being an advanced nation with high living standards, plus having all the natural beauty N.America has to offer....but now all that idyllic lifestyle has been trashed in only a few short years by the woke Trudeau regime = so sad.
Its not his fault

You really think the conservatives are going to do any better it’s the same party liberals and conservatives are in cahoots. We’re better off voting NDP.

are you sure? those people lining up for free food ALL WEAR decently good. some one them drive a nice car from videos online. hahaha. canada really need to do something about it. people are taking advantage of it
Is this a new Skam give you food ya right
These people should be ashamed of themselves. How low do you have to go before you just have zero respect for yourself. I wouldn't even go down that street. Yuck.
Lmao what
Blame inflation! What a catch-all! The real problem is that not enough people are trying to meet their dietary needs by growing their own food. Instead, they CHOOSE TO OFFER DISDAIN WHEN TOLD THEY SHOULD GROW THEIR OWN SUSTENANCE, as though they are too good to stoop to the level of soil.
@S exactly my point. Living in a situation where their pride in being so far away from where their food is grown, they can look down from their corporate balcony upon those who toil twice as hard as they should have to just to feed them. They kinda deserve to go hungry.
@S aaaaaaand blocking you. You failed to grasp the point. I sure got yours..
Many live in basement suites, apts and condos so have no land to grow food such as myself.
@@MrGregcarr and you choose to live that way. All I'm saying here is it's time for changes to our society and the way it's set up before it's too little, too late. There are more people living reliant on the hard work of the few farmers or suckling at a corporate teat than there has ever been. This is not healthy for either people or the future of humanity. If food has become so in demand and scarce, then it's time for many people to consider helping farmers, even for free/exchange, before getting starved out of a conditioned lifestyle. Time to put down the remote control and participate in growing food before the means of doing so is gone, gone, gone.

So much land in this country , why not create a non profit to grow food for the people in need, you could feed millions of people with fruits and vegetables, with guvernment land
But most of it is not suitable for farming or inhabitation.
Thank a boomer, and keep paying off their debts for them.
Let’s keep voting for the Trudeau Liberals....we’ll be first in all the carbon targets....AND have the longest lines in the world....at food banks due to federal inflation creation.....firsts in two things....thanks Justin!
Canada has not even been close to hitting emissions targets and never will. Unnecessary pain and suffering because of the Liberals and NDP.
@metanomena The US has met and surpassed their target emmisions and they do not have a carbon tax. The carbon tax will never work, Canada can shutdown all emmisions and it would not effect the world total emmisions. There are far better ways to fight emmisions then to punish people with a carbon tax which taxes everything.
We need change canadians !!
