All of them tend to have a modified aggro mechanic. Keep threatening presence on your felguard and make sure your felguard is the closest. Caster always wanders with the closest enemy in melee range. The only mob you'll need to then react to is Sigryn, who will regularly charge to your position. As soon as Sigryn charges, have your pet go to her (soul strike is good). As your pet approaches, move away. Then get your pet to go back to the caster. I found that Sigryn then follows. You can also use Hand of Guldan a little closer so that imps spawn closer to Sigryn. She then charges imps instead then runs straight back to the felguard. You can see me do this from about 49 seconds in. I have imps closer to the mobs and spend time running around dispelling runes.
@@trevplayswow thanks so much! I swapped to your talents and used your strat and got it done on my second attempt after 50 attempts with a different talent build/strat
@@patrickriley916 that’s excellent, well done! I really like the Mage Tower as an opportunity to try ideas out and swap into abilities or patterns I wouldn’t normally do. It’s great fun. Glad my video was useful!
I didn't use any DF tier at the time on Demonology. The end of the video you can see my character tab open. It was mostly DF dungeon/WQ gear. Notable other items include BFA Cloak, Heart of Azeroth, Hellscream Heirloom Staff, and two Legeion legendary rings. I chose the old gear because they're very stat rich and scale well to the level of mage tower. On the matter of DF tier, I have since used some tier items on attempts and the game doesn't say their set bonuses are disabled. I have yet to verify if they're active. I generally find gear isn't that important. I haven't gone out to find anything I didn't already have.
The Scaling of these challenges is an absolute JOKE. I just went in as a demo lock... with 0 knowledge of the class, clicking my skills, not even level 70.... no food/flasks etc and I got her down to 37% with 0 effort on my second try. On my arcane mage, a spec I played since DF release.. I am struggling like crazy and keep dieing around the 60% mark (with enchants, food/flasks etc.) 50 tries and counting. GOOD JOB Blizzard. Edit: Cleared Demo on Try 25. But all tries before usually were around 30%. Had to get used to pet management, as I never played with a pet before.
There is certainly inconsistency across the specs, with some coming out with a huge advantage. The most stark contrast I have experienced with Guardian Druid. Either way, I am glad you got the challenge done. Well done! It is still a tricky challenge.
Sparing use of Health Funnel throughout the fight to keep the Felguard topped is sufficient. The only danger is during Jarl's enrage, where starting at full health will afford you time to keep channelling Health Funnel. Alternatively, during the enrage, pull your fel guard to you and run off, using curse of exhaustion on the Jarl. I found the latter tactic to be ruinous to damage done though.
Did you find Nether Portal was worth the talent point? I think for a high mobility encounter like this I'd rather just drop it and go guilloutine + tyrant with more points that benefit dogs/imps further up the tree. You're probably never going to get the proper NP opener off in the first place with all the movement and it's less buttons for people picking up the spec just for this challenge.
Not really. I also found not launching my imps to their doom made the encounter easier too due to soaking the charges. I did take guillotine and that was awesome. There is no way I used nether portal well because I was too preoccupied with survival.
It was in the build but I doubt I used it optimally. It would be such a good damage boost because of the council damage triple application. I'm not very practiced at Demonology. Fortunately the Demonology talents are quite strong for this challenge. Keeping the mobs grouped and using the Fel Guard abilities was plenty sufficient.
The macros used are pretty simple. Swap the spell for the one you want. Use weakness on Jarl if using the pet to keep them together and channel health funnel as much as you can. #showtooltip Curse of Exhaustion /tar Jarl Velbrand /cast Curse of Exhaustion /targetlasttarget #showtooltip Curse of Tongues /tar Runeseer Faljar /cast Curse of Tongues /targetlasttarget #showtooltip mortal coil /tar sigryn /cast mortal coil #could also use fear. /targetlasttarget
Because I learn a lot of classes to do this stuff, sometimes when I’m mid panic I misstep on the key bind but I can see the icon I want. I bind a lot to buttons. You will notice key crowd control in this fight is entirely macro to key-bound actions. I’m not a great player though, otherwise I’d have a mouse with more buttons and other stuff. I’m just a guy with a laptop doing his best and posting my successes. :)
@@jacobbrackett3568 I don’t understand how that would be an improvement over a keyboard and mouse when playing World of Warcraft. Especially given the warlock and it’s penchant for spells and abilities with a ground target area.
How are you getting your pet to keep aggro on all three of them so consistently? I always have 1-2 chasing me
