I prefer this original over the updated version. The updated version does not fit the words and does not convey the spirit of the song.

I've been reading a book called Then Sings My Soul by Robert J. Morgan, a book of Hymns with stories about the hymns. This morning I read a story behind Jesus, I Am Resting, Resting, which was a favorite hymn of J. Hudson Taylor, the great missionary to China.
I wasn't familiar with the hymn so I did a search on UA-cam. I love the simplicity of your rendition. Thank you for sharing!
