I gotta say, can't say that for nearly all the new songs off the album left me wanting more heavy tbh but it's very good. I'm just seriously surprised, these insane riffs aren't really present in non singles
The intros to most of their earlier stuff on the second album were mostly breakdowns

Currents are going to be on top of the metalcore scene with this next release. I’ve honestly been waiting so long for metal like this to come out. Can’t wait to get my mega bundle pre order! Am I the only one who thinks it’s gonna be a masterpiece? Just from the 4 singles! Fuck yeah.

Currents is already taking the scene.Couple of bands to look after but they are climbing on first place.
Them, Silent Planet, Loathe and Ice Nine Kills to, and Veil of maya.
The guitar solo at 2:37-3:02 was a very nice surprise! You don't really hear guitar solos too much in metalcore.

then you have to listen to 2004 - ~ 2012 metalcore
there you have 90% solos in every song : D
as others have said, early 2000's metalcore is filled with solos
@x _ x Chromatic means going in semitones. So from fret 10 to 11 to 12 to 13 and so on, on a certain string. Chromaticism can be awesome, if used moderately, as it can create tension and surprise people and can also be an awesome tool to change keys. "Melodic chromatic" riffs doesn't really make sense, though (in my humble opinion). If you play something melodic, you usually play certain notes of a certain scale in a certain order to create, well, a melody. Chromaticism doesn't really lend itself to melodies, because - again - it's just one semitone played after another. The chromatic scale consists of all 12 notes in western music played in order. Not really that melodic, I feel. Ironically, you tend to find a lot more melody in guitar solos and lead licks, which you seem to dislike compared to those "melodic chromatic riffs".
Of course, if you care to elaborate on what you mean by "melodic chromatic riffs", I'd by very much interested in that. :)

My favorite track by them is shattered. Once I saw them on the trilogy tour with invent animate and silent planet they became one of my favorites too

Brian Willie's vocals are incredible. The pain in those screams and the harmonies in the cleans is addictive. Mixed with heavy af riffs and hard hitting drums = Perfection. This album is going to be an absolute beast.

Cleans at the beginning remind me of Sam Carter, overall the Architects feeling is strong in this one

I have my favorite bands rn and I love listening to them, but I always love hearing new noise, and this is the best metal I've heard in 2020 since the new Polaris album, and I think I'm hooked on Currents now...
Honestly, I'm with ya...a lot of my bros don't dig any of the newer noise out right now....but I just saw an indoor show of this ETID/Johnny Booth/18V style older 2000-esque metallic HC/punk n'roll band (but with Black Dahlia/Darkest Hour little nuances in it) and, in a way they FULLY ecompass the Polaris-meets-LIMBS (but with the energy of Attila, yet they're a 3 piece w/a temp bassist!!!!). *I just met the guitarist Dennis or "Turbo" or whatever dumb name he has, lol, and they're gonna tour with Currents/He is Legend (good friends of theirs I think? idk, that's what Legend's vox said) and even Norma Jean!!! They're from South Carolina's Beaufort area by Savannah....
but they're SUPER small (just 3 guys, two of them run the Instagram and just post silly video recordings of jams, song ideas etc to get feedback and they're gonna have the MOST badass pirate type merch in a few months. I'm not with their street team or anything lol, I'm just telling any Polaris/Architects etc or Every Time I Die/Converge fans I see online (as RTB has no press or label or support...on PURPOSE lol....
...the were just on some podcast like Rogan or maybe it was that Bobby Lee one?) f___k man I don't know, i could be wrong. *I just know that Legend, Knocked Loose, and a few others think they're the shit and they've barely put anything out (they only god like 1,150 followers!!!! LMFAO but duuuude.....if you're hooked on Currents and Polaris?? If you were to pull back on the overdone sampling (which I love too!!) and add a bit more feral ferocity (via Hawk, their Apache vox, Dennis, their maniacal guitarist who does back flips and wears WAR PAINT w/the singer & skinsman, Jasper (of Astronauts in Deep Space on drums), you wouldn't believe it....like a super snarling punk rock version of Black Keys playing almost throwback Refused meets The Chariot (in energy and sound, but with some Darkest Hour riffs thrown in on rare occasion!!) CHECK EM OUT...I love Currents and Polaris, and RTB played Warped a few times, and played shows with both, and so many people here are obsessed with em and their whole pirates artwork themes and just Chariot level crazy live sets for a 3 piece!!*
Love that all 4 singles have a distinct sound. Currents really growing into their own. All their work from the place I feel safest on has been phenomenal.

I love how every note of the speed picking/shredding solos are always so fast and never disappoint in their songs.

This album is absolutely going to slay. Still no bad songs so far. Also reaaaally liking the change to a more softer tone in this song. It shows they aren't a one track band and can experiment with other styles of metalcore. The cleans are superb and I'm actually hoping theres some more of it on the album.

The first time i saw Currents live. They were smaller on the first album. It was at The Warehouse in Clarksville, TN. And the vocalist came up to me and my buddies and gave us a sticker (which i still have and this was years ago.) so we took them and just brushed it off cause we didnt think theyd be any good. Turns out they were better than the headliners whom i cant remember currently. So i saw them 2 more times after that, and now in a dark time in my life i hear this song and it made my day. I turn 23 in 14 days and i didnt think i was gonna make it there. But hearing this gave me that chance and the drive again. Thank you guys for being amazing.
Even Mike Tyson took a bow to this, cuz he realized Currents hit harder than he does.

I clicked on this video for my curiosity!!! The music is awesome but the lyrical content is totally relatable with me right now. My family has been trying to help my oldest brother get out of his old ways with drugs/alcohol/etc. He was on a great run for almost 10 years and just decided to just throw in the towel at a great job he had, was gonna get married. Now hes blaming us for everything that's happened to him. We cut all communication with him, If he wants to live that lifestyle than so be it! Life goes on! I'm putting this song on my Spotify and maybe do more research on these guys!

This record, the new Polaris, and that new upcoming Old Wounds + Every Time I Die etc...Dude, if you dug the newer Polaris, Architects, Currents, but if that same cookie cutter djent style of hooks-turned-unending breakdown chugs (which, w/Architects, never gets old) never gets old then forget it...me? I love that snarling puck vibe Currents, Unearth, and even Knocked Loose has. This band coming soon (He is Legend loves em....they dubbed em "southern Swaggercore" the last show I saw with them w/The Damned Things, While She Sleeps (i think??) and Legend because THEY ARE A 3 piece like that band Bungler or a more feral version of High on Fire--minus the stuffy stoner blurry fuzz sometimes they get--but yeah i feel you... I love that bands like Islander (Raising The Black (SC), Hundredth, and now '68 (Chariot/Norma Jean singer's band) are killing it live with that whole chaotic 90000BPM ferocity straight up into a wig peeling/head busting breakdown outta something you'd hear from Refused if they mated with Fathoms, LIMBS, and even that sassy Eighteen Visions or Johnny Booth style of unhinged punk n'roll esque HC!
*Sorry, Im rambling cuz I was lucky enough to meet the coolest nicest dude, Dennis their guitarist, and all while I was at a While She Sleeps/He is Legend show, and they were going off about Currents' newer sound, and they brought up the fun vibe Attila, Alkaline Trio, etc that bands they'd predicted would be huge, and Raising The Black had just gone on and nearly incited a Slayer style riot with just the a singer, a guitarist doing flips, and a drummer who was in Astronauts in Deep Space who used to be massive. It's like watching Black Keys (in terms of small lineup) but putting out the energy of CONVERGE!!*
