I put in 6 auditions last Tuesday (10/22/2024) and got contacted by one author. He asked me how long it would take to do the work, and I estimated about 4.5 hours for the initial recording before editing and polishing. For some reason, someone else got the job, but the author emailed me and said he would keep me in mind for future books he writes.
He was the only one who got back to me. One author pulled his book from consideration, and I didn't get selected for any of the other projects, either. I didn't get discouraged but I'm grateful for this tutorial today. Thanks.

It takes time - as far as books/long form, my audition to offer ratio is about 37.5% (I do track it) - I don’t know if that’s good or bad.
I’ve learned to expect that I won’t get the work - doesn’t mean you’ve done a bad job, it just means the voice in the authors mind was different than yours :)

Sounds familiar. I DO get discouraged, unfortunately. When I first jumped onto ACX, I got three of the first 8 books for which I auditioned. I thought it was going to be a piece of cake. Then, rejections and authors pulling their books without choosing a producer started to become more frequent. I'm starting to wonder if now that I have samples of books I've narrated up on my profile, authors are deciding I'm not very good at this...
