Shorty no mention of the beef at all damn don't tell me yall strictly a sports pod now mfs been a decent balance of sports and pop culture fa years damn im hurt🤦🏾♂️
I don't think any of yall fully captured Melo's point, so here it is: He's saying that his archetype of a bigger dude who can play with guard skills and be the primary creator was a lot rarer in his day, so it was more difficult for guys like him to emulate that style and not be pigeon-holed into playing a certain way because of their size. The reason Magic was such a sensation in his day is because he was so tall for a guard, but because there are people of his height all over the league nowadays with guard skills, its a lot more common for coaches to recognise when a tall player is skilled, and let them play the position that benefits their skillset, as opposed to what benefits their height. Look at Josh Hart - he just started at PF for the Knicks - that would've been borderline unthinkable back in the day, but the league has evolved to be so positionless, that your skillset is now more important than your size. Now, because there are so many skilled wings coming out of all kinds of different sources to the NBA, it's a lot easier for teams to dump and recruit new talent that is tall and skilled, because there's a lot more tall players developing those skillsets at that size due to the way the NBA has changed. Melo isn't saying it's easier nowadays necessarily - he's just saying that because it's more normal to play like that now, a lot more big players are coming up with an advanced skillset compared to what it was back in the day.
I’m still wondering why we can easily blame KD for the suns losing and basically say Vogel gets no blame but then when we go to the lakers it’s vice versa.
I’m hearing a lot of people blame the front office for the suns over KD. Most of the things being said about KD are that he’s not a top 5 or top 10 player cause he’s not carrying that team to win ANY games in that series. It’s not his fault they lost all those games, but he’s not that kind of guy if they couldn’t even win one.
Nobody is blaming KD, dude. We're calling him a failure. He is. "We're done with KD" does not mean "it's KD's fault." 2 separate phrases. 2 different meanings.
People don’t blame Vogel because how can you? He’s always been a very defensive minded coach, and they gave him a team full of shooters with no defense lol.
@@ill_steal_your_pbj7363 that’s not what I remember them talking about on the podcast. For all of yall replying you have to stay on topic for what’s being talked about for the pod. @@ruffendtv1320If were talking lebron then this take is crazy. He is literally matching some of his best career stats? shooting way more efficiently- the team isnt just at a competitive state rn.
The JJ take is statistically true. If the league added two teams this offseason and every team had to sign G league players to make up for losing players who were good enough to make the main roster, every team would be slightly worse. Over time, if/when the game's popularity grows, a larger number of qualified players will replace the inadequate players and even out the talent pool again.
