Hey Leroy, i realize this is an older video, but i have been having issues with my pmd getting to hot i think. Its mounted on my grill infront of the radiator. After driving aboit 30 minutes across town and then letting it sit for 40 minutes, it didnt want to restart and was acting like the pmd was bad, which it cant be since its brand new. My question is, is it better to use the pad they send you when. Mounting it, that goes between the pmd and the heat sink, or to use CPU paste ? (Ive recently heard cpu past can help woth heat transfer).
Hi Leroy, thanks for the great content! I just relocated my PMD on a 2004 GMC Workhorse (old FedEx truck) and my issues seem to have went away, but now I am getting a P1216 code that says something like “fuel solenoid response time too short.” I used a #5 resistor but I don’t know what was used in the old PMD. I read that maybe this can be caused when the computer has to relearn what’s happening inside the PMD and that you would need a special type of computer scanner to reset it or cycle the engine 50 times. I was just curious if you’ve ever come across this before? Thank you!
I replaced my PMD module in a 1999 Silverado 3500 6.5 turbo diesel. I mounted it and grounded it well and when i fired it up the throttle or rpm went into very high acceleration then shut off then fired it up again this time the rpm was jumping between 1000-2500 then it would shut off. There was no control of throttle with pedal it was doing it by itself. I ordered the PMD module from Auto Parts prodigy do you think it's a defective part
I’ve read that the resistor #5 is for stock settings and that the resistor #9 delivers more fuel flow do you Leroy have any info on this or have you personally found any gains on these trucks. Thanks for the video !
LeroyDiesel do you have a shop ? I have a 6.5 Diesel smoking white and it’s running rough trying to figure out what’s going on I bought a pmd before seeing this and bought the resistor but when I plug it in it won’t clip in all the way like if the resistor is in the way is it normal ?
I have a question for you. I am working on a 02 Chevy 3500 tow truck with a 6.5 turbodiesel. My problem is when it starts it runs ok but will surge every couple of minutes and then go back to normal. Now when it gets to 170 it just starts to blow white smoke straight from the tailpipe. I get p1214, p1218, p1656. I am the 3rd or 4th person at the shop to look at it. I am thinking it is the pmd but they have moved it and replaced it. Can you help me?
How are you Leroy, I have 1998 chevy turbodiesel and this is a second time in one year that I have to replace the pmd, do you have any idea about this?why this happens?thank you.
Could be a bad quality extension harness and PMD? If all 6 wires in your cable are black then most likely its a $3 Chinese cable. Get rid of it and put ours on there, also get our PMD with lifetime warranty.
Mine feels like it is sluggish or purging like i am pushing the pedal releasing the pedal pushing the pedal releasing the pedal it is driving me insane and i love my 98 K3500 and want and need this fixed PLEASE HELP
I have a 95 6.5 turbo diesel --- it starts and idles but don't wanna take fuel do you have any idea what may cause this ? any help is greatly appreciated thanks doug hawkins
@@lillyhawkins2668 - Simplest things to check would be 1. fuel supply and/or return lines having blockage, 2. fuel filter issues, 3. strainer "sock" down inside gas tank is clogged and is collapsing during acceleration, 4. failing fuel lift pump along frame under truck that helps pull fuel from tank and push it to the injector pump. Good luck and let us know if you solve it!
whats the purpose of the resistor ?

I've always had good luck using the pad that comes with the PMD. But it's really up to you either way should be fine

Thanks man got a fue in my truck And had no idea got the truck today n now ik to keep that on hand
What is the difference in the number 9 resistor and the number 5 one?

Have the same issue right now did you ever find a fix?
How many Ohms is the resistance?
What the resistor for

Hi, My question is; Do the resistors come on the OEM module or do you buy it separate?
can I put this on a stock truck or do I need straight pipe

@@leroydiesel5647 thanks I think I fund the problem. I looked inside the pmd and no resistor is in it.
My truck has no resistor and no cods? Will this cause weird engine characteristics

I didn't check if the 9 was facing out lol fml , but it plugged in 🤣

How much u charge for the pmd with the kit
hey just a question . i have a 96 chevy 6.5 but needing a pmd . whats the difference in #5 an #9
thanks man ...
this may be an ignorant question...why is this resistor needed?
is the resistance 5 or 9??
thanks for the video very good information
why should i go to a 9 ? just wanting to know because im not sure what it would do.
Thank you sir
Are they pretty hard to change out?
From what I understand it's easier to buy a new one then to get an old out
can it be removed and moved to another PMD? thanks
I have a 1998 6.5 I have went through to pdm in 4 months are they something i check that would cause it to go bad
It turned out to be the injection pump
Do the pmd need to reprogram?
Use the 9
