Big Picture Takeaway for me: We did not waste a second of the bye week. We got healthy. We got our minds right. We got focused. And we put a beatdown on the team that beat Syracuse on their home turf. (I can't wait to see round two of Kenton vs Jackson on LOCKED ON ACC: THE SQUAD TEAM. I can just see Kenton compiling ammo for that little conversation later on this week. LOL!) But, getting serious again, we move to 5-4 on the season and can snag a bowl game with a 6th win over Duke. Offense DOMINATED! Defense DOMINATED! Special Teams DOMINATED! TOTAL DOMINATION happens when you play complementary football.
What I loved most about this game for our beloved Wolfpack is that they played complimentary football. Offense would do a series of spectacular plays like the freshman-to-freshman TD play by CJ to Keenan, then the defense would come in blitz the QB, cause a fumble or an interception, a sack, or a tackle for loss. It was a battle between the offense and defense of anything you can do, I can do better, and I loved every quarter of it!
I don’t care how bad of a team Stanford is. Outside of those two TDs by Ashton Daniels and the one drive where we got stuck for a FG, this game was beautiful. The OLine finally played like the Veterans they are for the entire game. Jordan Waters came back to life. Justin Joly and KC did their thing and Hollywood showed off his superstar power. It was so nice to just be happy and excited for 60 minutes for a change, instead of stressed. 😅
This was a very important game for this team and WPN, THAT energy, and fight must be translated into these last 3 games and the bowl game?!!!! GOPACK!!!!
To me what we have seen the last couple years after the bye is gettimg back to basics. Seems like the offense especially simplified things and got good at being consistent with those play calls. Another big factor that has been missing all year was the special teams. The kick returns really energized the team. I am still scratching my head with the weird kickoffs in thebfirst half. Just kick the ball into the endzone.
I know everyone is worried about who we might lose to the portal, but @wolfpackstats made a good point on X yesterday - the only really important football player we’ve lost in the last few years is Devin Leary. State’s player retention is actually really good considering the state of college athletics today. That made me feel a lot better about the chances of keeping a good core of CJ and our pass catchers for next year. If we can end this season on a high note, I think our offense is going to be just fine. The momentum is the key.
It’s a great point. Really across the board in all sports, State hasn’t been routinely poached of their talent. Only a handful of players have been successful elsewhere. Leary is the only big one in Football
Offensive/Defensive Reviews- Offensively the run and gun show was in full effect! CJ gunning down Stanford with that spectacular air raid, and the Lamborghinis racing up and down the field at lightning speed just overwhelmed Stanford. If Waters go bananas on Duke this weekend, they in trouble. Defensively- total domination/100% aggression. The men fell on the Stanford O-line like a ton of bricks. I started yelling TI M B E R every time you saw the QB tumbling over behind the line of scrimmage. So happy for Vann, leading the nation in Forced Fumbled Turnovers. Bro, might have a shot at the Butkus Award? What do you think, Grayson?
@@LockedOnWolfpack OH! Okay. Thanks for the info. Yeah, if he keeps this up,especially leading the country, he should be a lock for first team all-defense
Do you guys realize you're one of the few Locked On Channels that has objectivity? Some of the others pumps so much sunshine up their homer's butts that I want to 🤮. Keep up the good work guys! 😽👍
CJ should have been the guy from the jump and I would have been ok with this season but we brought in mccall and fumbled the season a win is ok. But not the season we wanted
The risk was necessary. McCall had a good resume and great tape. Just didn’t pan out here. If anything, perhaps the injury history should have been more closely vetted. Starting CJ Bailey from Game 1 likely would have produced similar, if not worse results. He’s still learning
@LockedOnWolfpack similar or worse results I would be fine with he would have been a true freshman he would have gotten reps under his belt and experience and would have went into year two ready to contribute and execute this offense we delayed him by having McCall running the show until his unfortunate injury cause this season was a complete waste and let down
Yes, but hindsight 20/20 on that. Bringing in an experienced QB made the most sense at the time. In fact, it still makes sense now. It just ended up being a failure. In a year with Championship expectations, riding the entire thing on a True Freshman QB would have been completely illogical.
@LockedOnWolfpack that was my point of view since the spring game McCall had a history of injuries if he got hurt in coastal what makes you think he wasn't going to get hurt here
@LockedOnWolfpack I don't see the point in going to get a senior quarterback or a junior paying him money to play in the offense he hasn't played in and expecting him to be the guy to lead you to the promised Land those rips that you wasted on McCall and you could have got Bailey or a guy that's been into the system longer
Glad that Victory Monday comes without sweating over the outcome. Wolfpack Nation can get used to this.
What a relief. Feels good to finally win this way
So glad to see that this team came out on Saturday and took care of business against Stanford
The whole way!

Excellent point on the Bye Week. They utilized it correctly. Looked like a brand new team

There it is! Complimentary Football.
These are the results you get!
Oh and God bless CJ Bailey. 🤩 That young man did something even Philip Rivers couldn’t do. He was balling from start to finish!
A true star in the making. Kid is something special
That belt should've been applied all season. 💪
You’re telling us!
Especially to the dirty foot club!
It's on the menu!

It was just nice to see us comfortably win a game like that. It had been a while. Forgot how good it feels!

They simplify things and come out looking like a better team. So why are things being routinely overcomplicated in the Preseason??

Defense needs to recognize that QBs can actually run the ball too
And the scout on Daniels would have told them that. He was their leading rusher. Their RBs have been extremely subpar

The Butkus Award is for Linebackers, but if Vann has an extremely disruptive last few weeks, he could be in the mix for 1st Team All ACC

Good morning guys! 😁👋
Good morning!
Doc's Deciders 5/6. This is the type of performance you would have love to seen against WCU LT and Wake.
This is exactly what we were supposed to see
DD just cannot get his teams ready for the first 5 or so games of the season. Not sure why, but it's a definite pattern.
Taking too long for the pieces (and coaches) to gel together. You can’t afford to be rudderless in the first 6 weeks. That’s 1000% on the Coaches

Every now and again we can be a little homerish 😂
But objectivity is important to the two of us. We do our best! Thank you!
Will state be able to keep Bailey?
We believe so. Everyone wants to think Miami will come calling, but Miami will hunt for someone bigger. More established
