I think brutal leg kicks will play a huge factor in this fight.
Yair and Volk both had some success with the leg kicks, and Justin throws some nasty ones so you might be right. I do think Justin leaves himself alot more open tho, and Max is very durable. So it could come down to volume damage vs power damage and who can take the most punishment. I'd probably take Justin, but not gonna count Max out
Yair and Volk set up their leg kicks different, Justin looks more susceptible to straights to the body or head after or mid kick, and for all the deal made of leg kicks I've never seen Max on crutches after any of his fights. I see Max hooking off the jab around Justin's guard, and for all the "he doesn't got power talk" its cause he throws a lot of shots like Nick Diaz, generating power from the arms, not the feet, in order to counter punch or combo. When he sits down on his straight, counter hook, or ducking overhand Justin will feel it.
@@kaipomeller1449Exactly, Volk and Yair set up their kicks after occupying the hands or with their footwork so you don’t expect the kick when it comes. Gaethje just blasts them and leaves himself more open which he why he doesn’t throw them as much now. I’m still definitely worried about the kicks for Max but he is a much more technically sound striker than Gaethje and as you said he power is underrated. Also, while Holloway has problems with leg kicks, Gaethje has problems with body shots as we saw in the first Poirier fight and the Alvarez fight and Max is one of the best body punchers in the sport
@@bbguy17 Ye Max loves attacking the body, and if he can land one of his spinning mule kicks to the body could be game changer. When Max got someone tired he really starts making them miss and pouring it on. Big Max fan, coming from the same Island, lot of respect for Justin though, just excited to see a great fight, may the best man win that night!

I don't understand why so many people make out like Max has no chance to win. Justin Gaethje gets hit in his fights, and he gets dropped. People seem to suggest that Justin can't be knocked out by Max because Justin has more power. Also I can't think of many Justin fights where he didn't have the power advantage so why is it all of a sudden unfair? Max has always been a big 145er. Look at his weight cuts. I really don't see how people can say this isn't a fair matchup.

If Topuria beats Volk he is going to get an immediate rematch. I don't think the UFC will deny Volk that opportunity like they did with Aljo where he was robbed of an immediate rematch. Even if Max beats Justin and Topuria beats Volk, Max will not fight for the 145 belt until Volk has had his immediate rematch.
Depends how it goes I think. If Topuria smokes Volk then that would be Volk lost 3x times in a row, potentially twice by finish.

People just assume that risk of fighting Justin Gaethje is too high for Holloway, considering how damaging everybody knows it can be(Tony Ferguson fight). Its not a real title fight, although may lead to a title shot for Holloway, but he is justifiably an underdog. The last two times Justin lost to grapplers and Max doesn't have big KO power, so its a tough stylistic match up for him. Is it worth fighting such a dangerous match up at this point in his career?
I personally would like to see the BMF title legitimized for catch weights. Where they do something like a Volk v Gaethje, if both guys win their upcoming fights, at 150. Or something like BMF winner vs Edwards at 163. That way it wouldn’t affect the rankings at all for any weight division, and could float between divisions for banger fights. If you want to challenge someone in your own weight class you can, but it has the option for catch weights. And only a single person can hold it at a time, so there isn’t a ton of BMFs

Max doesnt have the power to damage Gaethje, he would need a perfect fight to beat him, perfect movement, perfect striking, i dont think he would be able to handle Gaethje on the ground purely because of his strength and wrestling skills... Banking on the toughness factor of Max is alright and all... but Tony was one of the toughest LWs we've seen... and his career arc was drastically changed when he fought Justin.. the difference is that atleast Max doesn't just walk forward without head movement. I think this may be the fight we finally see a takedown from Justin 😂
Dustin poirier was piecing max up until he ran out of cardio and max has regenerative cardio.
Then dustin started throwing take downs in the later rounds, If gaethje doesn't ko max inside 2 rounds we might very well see a similair situation, gaethje will gass out in the later rounds if you keep the pressure on him.
I love gaetje, but he's not going to beat islam (9/10). I hope max gets a master class UD over gaetje, moves down to fight Topuria who just knocked out volk, and we might just see a SUPER fight at feather weight for the first time in a very long time.

I got the sense that DP was told the trilogy with Gaethje wasn’t an option because Justin was fighting Islam. Seems he was disappointed when he heard of this booking. If Justin wasn’t gonna fight Islam, DP wanted him.

Max has fought a lot of really good strikers, but NONE of them strike as hard as Gaethje does. Max is a volume striker, and Justin is a killer. I’m afraid we’re going to see Max Holloway get El Cucuy’d, ending Max and starting him on a BJ Penn cycle.
Max is the BMF for just taking this fight. Justin is the bigger framed guy, with more power and brutal leg kicks. I hope Max wins, but only give him a 20% chance in doing so. Hopefully he proves me wrong

Just because they’re the same height or walk around the same weight doesn’t mean they’re the same size. Max cuts to 145. Justin cuts to 155. Either Justin is lazy and just doesn’t bother to try to get to 145 or he’s got more mass that isn’t easily removed. Muscle, bone density, etc.

Tony was known for his crazy pace, high volume, and high strike variance. He was a menace with the output and the pressure. But when he ran into Justin, he couldn’t withstand the physical consequences of trying to crowd Justin.
I literally just said the same thing. Man if Max pulls this off that would be something but I don't get it. Volk's just got KO'd and imo against Yair kinda got lucky with that head butt, he's slowing down just a little bit I think. Max could be right back to a title fight later this year, but nope let's take on Justin who's at his peak right now in a terrible match up for Max. Max has some stones lol gotta love him.
Tony cut weight twice just to do it though. Plus Tony was never champion caliber, with the exception of RDA a lot of the people Tony beat were all on their way out. Look at Pettis, ya Tony won, but what did Pettis do after that, went and lost to some no namer in an under league. Most of Tony resume was wins against names that were already walking to the door, he never beat a prime guy and the first time he came across one he got smoked, but I think he would’ve had a better outing had he not cut weight twice

The head butt messed Yair up and instead of taking the 5 mins he took 30 seconds and went straight back in, stupid move. This whole conversation about Dustin saying Max would win is pointless because you missed out the fact he said he would bet on Max because he is an underdog, he is not saying Max is the favourite but that he gives Max much more of a chance than everyone else by saying hes a good bet to take as an underdog.
