I hope everyone remembers that the LRT was planned and funded to be extended into Brampton, but Brampton councillors ultimately supported the rich homeowners on Main Street in Brampton and cancelled the LRT because they didn't want trains on the road. So I hope councillors will tell the rich people there to shove it.
Finally the government came to their senses. It wa stupid to just end it at Steeles. I’m sure they will figure out to make it work in the narrow downtown Brampton area
They should have just done the loop from the beginning. Also what about port credit? There was preliminary plans to extend it underground into port credit proper from the go station. If they put any of it underground in brampton, they might as well do port credit too.
The irony being that Hazel wanted to separate from Peel Region, in effect Brampton. Doug Ford announced it, then looked at the true costs, then decided “ Let’s name a transportation link between the two city’s after a person who was firmly against being a part of the region “ . Hey, Irony, can be really hilarious sometimes. 🤪✌🏼🇨🇦
I don't even know why they named the line after her anyway as the line extends outside Mississauga. Not only that, its a straightforward line along a single street rather than a line that follows multiple streets like the Ontario Line that needs a special name. Renaming Celebration Square to "Hazel McCallion Square" instead would make a lot more sense as naming civic Squares after mayors is common.
Ummm. Announce the LRT extensions. THEN, give Metrolinx a mere two weeks to put together the business case AFTER the announcement. RIDICULOUS!! A business case is used to compare various options and to help make choices BEFORE a decision is made.
Building transit investing in transit but people arent moving away from cars to transit. Why? Its still terribly inefficient. Take a bus from sq1 to the airport it'll take 45min. By car 15min.
That's incorrect and a bad example. It actually takes 25 minutes by go bus because of the transit way. With that said, the transitway is horribly limited, which is why more projects are needed.
your argument is that because transit is underfunded, we should underfund it even more for a mode of transportation that requires nonstop road maintenance from all the potholes that start forming, instead of a metal track?
The loop and extension to Brampton is the new part (though was previously cancelled from the design that is being constructed now). Why have you left several comments claiming it’s going to open in Sept ‘24?

and where does it end at steeles? right into the mall?

Port Credit "proper"? LOL! Imagine someone describing a former-town neighborhood in Toronto proper such as Weston or Swansea like that...

Even the extention in Brampton, is already opening soon. But Doug may change it to underground, instead of above. That's the only difference.
The Hazel Mccallion LRT
What a great lady who build Mississauga, definitely should be named after her
Yeah so that way no one can point fingers when the trains crawl along at the speed of a lady who was perpetually 96 years old
A good location within the western GTA did that, not Hazel.
The traffic around that area is horrible too many vehicles not enough people

Gotta keep construction going at all cost
Come on who are we folling at least 3 to 4 years before hazel line opens
They havent even finished
Taking forever.....very bad traffic...and public transit buses...delays...😭😭😭😭😭
This guy managed to not answer a single question.
There should be a law passed to make it illegal to dance around direct questions by public figures.
How about get anything finished first? Open projects nothing finished.
The loop is also opening in Sept '24. But now, Doug will pay for it, not just Mississauga.

@@Mystro256 transit way is always empty though

But it's all due to open in Sept. ' 24. What they are doing today, is just adding more money. But it will open Sept '24, with or without Doug!
It's going to open in Sept. It's not new!

It was the original date of opening. Just because your adding stops or extentions, no reason for most of it to open!
