- It's a bit late but today we're taking a look at Spiritfarer a game that's been touted as something special but can it live up to expectations. That's what I'm here today to find out in my Spiritfarer Switch review. Want to support the channel? Patreon: / switchcorner
Spiritfarer is a cozy management game about dying.
You play Stella, ferrymaster to the deceased, a Spiritfarer. Build a boat to explore the world, then befriend and care for spirits before finally releasing them into the afterlife. Farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, and craft your way across mystical seas. Join the adventure as Daffodil the cat, in two-player cooperative play. Spend relaxing quality time with your spirit passengers, create lasting memories, and, ultimately, learn how to say goodbye to your cherished friends.

Last week we saw a lot of games drop live during the Indie direct! This is what I would say is one of the biggest ones not only in expectations but price too. Is it worth the price tag and is it as special as it looks? As always thanks for watching, liking and subscribing. This one I spent most my time handheld while I was sick and it was good company!
It is an absolutely stunning game, I think the art style is what caught my attention first and then the game itself how you can create and personalise your ship how you want it. Brilliant game!

I heard the traveling with no fast travel is a con to this game, as well as unskippable lightning storms etc. Since once you get lightning bottled there isn't much use for it after 1 specific person. I personally don't mind repeating a storm but not a fan of traveling for 5-7 mins back and forth with no skipping.
Brooks Soljah you can fast travel! There are bus stops in the game, and you can skip the storms also ☺️
@@olciademoncia good to know. As I said earlier, I will be picking it up...just heard some downsides and frankly they aren't that big of a deal.

Been playing this with my wife since launch and it's scratched that itch we had with Kingdom Two Crowns.
I have to admit I couldn't bring myself to watch the entire video as I didn't want to spoil myself with what's left to come. But hopefully your video helps push more people to pick it up!
This is a special game, so unique and beautiful. My girlfriend who doesn't like many games can barely put this one down.
I finally made the jump and bought it. It’s currently on sale for less than $10 CAD. It’s currently downloading and I’m excited to jump in. Great review.
This game really shocked me and my roommate as a really enjoyable co-op. The cat can do everything the human character can except talk, and it handles really well. We played the full story, grabbed all the collectibles, fully upgraded every structure, and had $1.36 million sitting in the bank when we were done. It took us 60 hours, probably because we were overly enjoying the resource harvesting, but it never felt like a drag to us. It’s really hard for us to find co-op games that are chill/relaxed paced and casual skill/non-gamer skill level. The lack of frustration made this a great way to unwind at the end of the day.

Thank you for this review! I picked it up and i'm nearing the end now after so many hours but i've loved every minute of it. I wasn't expecting this game to resonate with me so much or the writing to be so good. I wish animal crossing was more like this! Can't believe i'm nearly at the end
Revisiting now that it's 50% off. I didn't know it was from the same folks that made Sundered and Jotun, so yea, count me in!

I had my eye in this game since last year... I was enthralled by the graphics/ animation but also by the idea of playing as a new Charon.
I am loving this game. The story is touching and you feel a connection to the characters as you manage their needs and yours. I don't know if I will finish this one because of the amount of time it will need but it's been amazing visually and in general.
Your looking at about 20 hours with this one dependent on your pace! The characters are pretty amazing right!
I especially love that it never punishes you for anything.
@@SwitchCorner Indeed they are amazing, I love how alive they feel even when they are just off running their idle animations. And each dialog event you go through, you feel that more and more. I also appreciate the fact that the conversations are never just negative. Even when they breach a topic of discomfort, the character often finds a positive in that moment too. Somehow. I like that.
@@SwitchCorner Thanx for stating it's about 20 hours as mentioning the gameplay time for any game is "always" a good thing to know before buying a game I be buying this as it's now on sale now been waiting awhile for a sale
Your review convinced me to get this one. Small fact that you missed (or maybe I missed in your video) is that a second player can jump in as well, although they can't do a lot.
I absolutely adore this game, I’ve been playing it nonstop since I got it; the story is beautiful yet heartbreaking but still comforting all at the same time and the art style is fantastic and very eye catching! Not to mention all the music is very relaxing to listen to.
Darn see now, when all these games came out last week I was torn between this and Raji - I plumped for Raji and that was the wrong decision. Lucky enough to still have a pay day (tomorrow, yay) so this will be my game for the weekend.

This seems a game I’d really enjoy, I have this weird thing about resource management games (seriously, my favourite Atelier game ended up being the spin-off Nelke because town building yay!) and a great story is something I never say no to, especially if I enjoy the gameplay and I don’t mind games that others find repetitive. I find it relaxing, getting caught in a loop where my brain doesn’t keep wandering off and stressing me out even more.
Like Piczle Lines (no idea how to spell that) (as long as you turn off that god awful music x.X) and finding words in those Powgi games, as well as Letter Quest. Really chill pick up and play but accidentally get stuck for longer than I planned games. Same with Farm Together once I got my farm to a size I can’t really manage, but since starting out is slow I had several at the time to switch around with at first. Pro tip from my sister that played it on I think xbone.
Gotta give u a heads up. For some reason the South African eShop is far cheaper than the US / UK counter parts!!!! R175 in South Africa . (Works out to be $11 and £8 directly converting)

I created a South African region acount, but they do not sell gift cards for South African eshop and you cannot pay with credit card or paypal outside of region. @@shyguy2046 ah i see. Is that what you did? Unfortunately I don't know anyone from South Africa. That's pretty risky for both parties and quite a favor to ask from a stranger. I read a few reddit posts where people were able to just change their region and use their regular credit cards, but the posts were from a couple of years ago so maybe they changed that. I didn't think it'd be quite so simple. Many thanks for responding.
I'm about 60% through this game right now and it has already made me cry two and a half times 😭 I've recently lost several family members and this game has really been helping me heal from those losses ❤ an amazing and powerful game 💯

This is one of the most beautiful story and game play w this amazing soundtrack and visuals. I cried so much playing this game.
Thanks to this game I got curious and picked up the other two Thunder Lotus Games on Switch during their discount period. May do the same for this one, wait for a discount before buying it I mean. Added to the Wishlist.

It looks like we can zoom in and out in this game. Am I correct? I hope so because I'd like to buy this game but due to poor eyesight I can hardly see the figures in some scenes due to landscape or seascape taking center stage.
What was the close second indie game to play? I understood "Guard of Manifold" but can't find anything.

Great review but i’ve got a question.
Does the grind damage the overall experience?
After watching a couple of reviews, most of them agree that slows down the pace and make it a little tedious at times.
as I said the middle sags a bit but it’s not something you’ll find yourself stuck in for hours just kinda waiting for crops to regrow and locations to access. For me though it didn’t do enough damage at that point I had put in more than enough hours that it extended the play time without our staying it’s welcome! Hope that makes sense!
Depends on where you threshhold lies. If you like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing then you'll be fine.

So fun, plain and simple. Love it...I played it on game pass . I had to stop playing it tho so I can buy it for the switch .
I think it’s one of those rare games where me feeling sick probably heightened my experience even more! If that makes sense

I'm loving this game. It got me to stop playing animal crossing everyday. It is beautiful and very fun.

Seems like the developer had 2 interesting/beautiful games that were slightly flawed, and then absolutely nailed this one.
The screenshots on the Eshop don't do this justice. I thought it was some weird furry game were you are in one location and manage relationships with them lol This shows me that it's more of a platformer adventure with story elements.

The game looks interesting but it’s just too expensive to get into. $40+AUD is a bit ridiculous. Might grab it if it goes on sale though
Looking at Jotun that drops in sales so no doubt this one will too!
Although to some it may be looked down upon, the price is surprisingly much lower priced in Russia and Mexico.
But again, for the developers, it's always good to support, especially for a game like this one~
If you do decide to get it it is quite a meaty game about 40 hours in total if you do most things so keep that in mind.
