Trying to decide between the 1477 or the 1480. The 1480 is 8' long and has much more gain. But it is 8 feet tall ! Thanks for the video. Great job. Definitely worth a thimbs up..
Yeah see I looked at the 1480 too, but want to keep this small for emergency use, so love the fact that its not super long. Before this i had that Comet CX 333 tri bander and it was much too long for an easy deployment
The "b" model is black, easy to blend in for base use. Thinking of using black chain link top rail and this antenna in black for a low profile base. Good video, feel like it would be a good choice. Using a comparable 25w tyt radio for both mobile and base use.
Would there be any way to tune one to run up around 469 band digital got a few Kenwood nexedge rigs in use wanting to turn one into a base rig but fcc has Me in the 469 band
What is the tripod called that your using to mount the antenna on? I’d like to get the antenna but having a hard time finding something to mount it on. Thanks In advance
I have the Tram 1477 I used some left over 1 1/2" PVC conduit to mount it on and cut some PVC disks glued them in the bottom, drilled that and fit a 1/4-20 coupling bolt into it. All that sits on an old camera tripod. I'm not real happy with the SWR, running over 2 across 2 meters and 1.8 on 70 cm.
@@stevehildreth1934 Hi there i use a big speaker tripod...3' to 5' toll ( you cut get it in a music store ) and 20' to 50' mini 8 coaxial cable for temporary set up..in a fill day or emergency's ( we live in the Island of Puerto Rico..and we are in the hurricane hi way every year )....you never know so we are prepared...73 ....WP4EFM
Glad to see this channel and all the videos are still here. Came across this antenna on Amazon so decided to search youtube.
I ordered one of these antennas for a mobile/temporary base station with a btech uv50x2. Just waiting for my coax to come in.
bought this. high swr on 70cm. 2m is spot on out of the box.
Thank you so much for pointing out this AWESOME antenna!!!!!
Does it make it up too the GMRS section too??
Thanks!!!! And 73
i think tram makes a gmrs antenna as well similar to this one
Thank you for the video

Is there a video on the radio box? or is it a battery box?
Nice looking dual band antenna. I wish you would have told us how far away the repeater was, for informational purposes..Nice review!👍🇺🇸
The last one I hit was a good 50 miles or so the rest maybe two to 20
@@Iridium242 or that a radius ? Can that antenna also work with gmrs
I have this antenna, will it matter if I mount it to another galvanized pole? Vs wood or fiberglass etc?
No, It shouldn't matter.
Witch antenna commet like these do you recommend for GMRS home base
can I use it with GMRS channels only Im in process in getting my Ham techik got it thanks
It would be best to get a GMRS antenna for those frequencies, while this might work it certainly wont give you the most distance due to a higher SWR
just watching for support. no idea on the HAMM stuff

I wonder if it would work at my house. Wifi and satellite won't. Only 1 brand of cell carrier will but max 2 bars. What do you think?
How is the match on GMRS
Nice gear 242!
How do you ground it?

Its a tripod I got in radio shack years ago, was for a tv antenna but it works for ham radio too!

Nice...............
this is a HAm/Gmrs antenna right
will this work as a base antenna for a CB Radio.?
Nope its just for 2 meter and 440 on the ham bands.
Tram Cb antenna simular to this junk
What is the tripod you're using to do that? I'm fairly new to the hobby and this looks appealing.
Its an old one i got at a radio shack years ago, kept it for a while cleaned it up and use it for this stuff now.
