- South Lido Beach Re-nourishment. Major construction on South Lido Beach.The Sand is being pumped from the big pass ground through pipes onto South Lido Beach. This Project started in the middle of July and will be going on until October. This has been a very controversial project because of the sand being taken from the big pass and not from further out in the Gulf of Mexico.

I really enjoyed your video. We stayed at Sandcastle Resort August 9 and 10 and they were just south of us with the big pipe (probably not the technical name) shooting out shells and things. I just stood there and the shells came to me and some were quite large!
Thanks for the update and aerials. I just returned from a trip and was kayaking in the far western end of Big Pass. I could see the rig but not much else.
If they continue to take sand from that area then I don't think it will be an issue. If they go west, then that becomes an issue since that ebb shoal protects Siesta from the storms out of the N and NW. I have a place on Siesta and it's amazing to see the difference in the beach after just one storm. I would hate the see the north end of the island look like Lido does today.

I do recommend taking a class but you do not necessarily have to. It absolutely would be the easiest way for you to pass the 107 certificate test. But it’s very similar to getting your drivers license. You do not need to take the class but it would make it much easier to pass.check out a UA-cam page call Pilot Institute I have been watching him for a while and he is very good. The sand is MUCH nicer on Siesta, they should pump it from Siesta to Lido.
Whats the name of the contractor? I do this type of work , my guess would be there pumping from the pass because it's getting to full of sand and also much cheaper.
The reason is that the movement of the water, as the current takes away the beach over a period of time. The dredging is the process of rebuilding or putting the beach back so there is more beach, more beach more room... People complain about no beach, they rebuild the beach and then the same people complain about the construction/Dredging process, and where they should have the equipment. yeah lets get the beach sand from 100 miles out at sea, so it cost more money... never satisfied, snobs. just my opinion.
